This video is so helpful I was growing frustrated and couldn’t get it right and then I came across your video I can’t thank you enough for uploading this
I appreciate how short yet detailed is your video. I would note that demographers usually divide the population in each cohort by the _total_ population, and not just the total male population or the total female population. However, it seems like most of the UA-cam videos and online Excel tutorials I've come across only divide each male cohort by the total male population and each female cohort by the total female population.
Thanks for this comment! I thought the tutorial was amazing, but with my skewed dataset (65% of my sample is male), my graph wasn't accurately displaying the data. Dividing each cohort by the total population was an easy fix.
I was writing a field report and I was to present the population data of a certain ward, first I had to use pie chart instead, as I didn't know how to construct population pyramid in excel. Thanks for the tutorial now I know how to do it👏
Thank you very very very much. I was really struggling a lot on this. You made my life easier. God bless you Kobe. Please do more I just started following your channel.
I do appreciate your effort to teach, but when you are teaching something, don't skip or cut. Because some of your students might get confused if you skip something they are not aware of yet.
Don't think it's of much help now, but what it is doing is continuing down the line of your population column, so you'll need to manually input the correct equation
So this worked really well. However when I did one side of a population the graph makes it look smaller than the other side even though they are similar numbers. One is 75,000 but the percentage became -25.00% and the other of 70,000 became 93.333% so the “positive” side is a loooot longer than the other side
Thank you so much for your video! I was checking other videos but you are the only one that explains really clear how to change the negative numbers :D Thank a lot!
Idk if you still need this or not, but you’ll have to change the format on the label by right clicking, choose number and then custom. Type: standard, standard on the format code bar and click add.
Thanks, bor brillant viedeo. Technuque about number ---> percentage formating was sinmpe but so amazing. Hope tas mome day we will see more videos like this. Thank.
Wouldn't this only give the percentage of a population relative to the sex, not relative to all the people? Shouldn't the male and female populations be added together and then the percentage calculated from that total?
Really great tutorial. BUT, you have male%=100 and female%=100. This is incorrect, as it doesn't accurately show the relative sizes of the male and female populations. You need male%+female%=100. So your denominator for each % should be the total population, not the population for that sex.
I like how she's so enthusiastic about making a population pyramid
