In my other sampling in Maschine tutorial, people have left comments saying they can't get it to work. So I decided to make another video showing you how to sample anything into the Maschine MK3.

DDS825 How to sample into maschine from a external interface? My MK3 will not pick up a audio in from my external hard drive on my other dog's do it with no problem I cannot figure out why machine will not pick up a input from my external interface oh, anyone know how to fix this?

Hey bro, I constantly get digital distortion when I attempt to sample into Maschine. All of my levels are set perfectly.
Any idea what the problem might be?
I had an issue where no sound was coming in through the two inputs. It was driving me crazy. I watched all your videos on this and the one thing not mentioned was the ‘Mic In Gain’ dial at the back of the controlller next to the inputs. Mine wasn’t turned up! Problem solved! Thanks so much for all the help, keep up the good work!
I hadn’t had the issue because mine was already turned up. Lol But I think I pinned it in the comments.

Ack Ibanez It should be called ‘Input Gain’ as it seems to control all inputs, not just ‘Mic In’. Enjoy 👍

To get the most out of whatever your sampling wether it's a record , minidisk, tape or smart phone or what ever it is , link the device through a dj mixer with whatever jacks or connections you need , even a cheap dj mixer will do ,it boosts the signal through the mixers preAmp (so it's not quiet)
It works on the same principle as the big boy mixing desks you see in professional recording studios .

I followed these instructions to the letter and still wasn't getting sound.
And then I realized I had to crank my volume up on my phone all the way AND turn the volume on my headphones (plugged into the Maschine) to hear something.
After recording, I NORMALIZE the sample and then it sounds normal.
Hi im super new to Maschine +.. So I only need the cable for this to work? I wanna sample something from youtube to machine + should i just buy the cable and then i put 2 cables in maschine and 1 in my pc?

For the MK3, do you NEED a laptop/PC? Or just a monitor?

Can I pull and drag a song from my computer library to the device for sampling, or do I have to use the external outputs?
What about for the Mikro since it doesn’t have any aux connections?
You’ll have to use an audio interface but the same steps.
Can someone tell me why choosing MK3 isn’t an option under devices? This is driving me insane
Is there anyway to "highlight" THIS video so that when your viewers look for "how to sample in maschine" they will find this and any other old "sampling" videos only and it remains at the top of your video listing?
I don't think there is a way to specifically highlight this video. I just go and add the link to this one on top of the descriptions of those older videos.

Do the aux cables need to be plugged into the maschine and the monitors/ or audio interface?
To sample with the MK3, the aux cables just need to be plugged into the Maschine. To hear what you are recording you have to have either headphones or monitors plugged in to the MK3.
Aye DDS I just noticed something. I think out of all the Tutorial videos you've done you've never showed one where you do modulation and effects on a full song. I feel like that's what confuses a lot of people when it comes to the process.
You think that confuses people on this process or are you are saying unrelated to this video.

Since about 1 week my mk3 stopped Having an Input signal
Somethimes ist works Perfect and 5 mins later ist stops again.

@@DDS825 I think I also experience similar problem. I followed all steps in the video over and over but my Maschine does not receive single from my phone. I could also experience the cable problem. I am not sure whether I have to reorder another cable.
I just connected my new cable I re-ordered from Sweetwater since my MK3 could not receive signal last time with the first cable I bought through Amazon. I followed over and over all steps in the above video but my MK3 still fails to get signal. I feel so disappointed. Though buying a similar cable from could maybe solve my problem this time. Could my MK3 be the problem could be my MK3.
Can anyone advise where I can take it to be tested by an expert?
Mic was the problem. My MK3 works now perfectly.

Man , I just tore everything down, unplugged my Mk3, (was getting a sound wave on "sampler" mode out of IPhone into Mk3, but no sound )
And I come to #THiS video, and all I had to do was turn on "monitor??" ( ... 3:10 or so )
Idk man, I've had this Mk3 over year and a half, and still haven't done anything spectacular with it.... Smh
I have other platforms and means to record,
(Various DAWs on windows Desktop & laptop, and iPad) so, I have ways to pacify that creative urge, but as far as Maschine goes, it's just Been a losing proposition!
A 550 Dollar dust collector, that looks good in pics, and is fun to finger drum on, that's it ......

Yet, I also see teenage girls jamming, recording, sampling, and playing away with these things, so, idk, LoL, it's just one of those things, I reckon !

This video helped me a lot. I couldn’t figure out why my samples sounded like shit after I recorded them. I had mine on detect mode also but I didn’t know how how the threshold worked so I just left it in its default spot. The way you explained it solved my problem

Hey, I’m having the issue with recording it says “output file cannon be written” and “recorder erro”
Yesterday I received a MOTU M2 after using a Focusite Saffire 6 USB for the last eight years.
It has a loopback function which I didn't know about before. Now I can record everything that's coming out of my PC on the Mk3 as easy as I would record a mic!
Probably in the near future my Maschine will run in sample mode all the time while watching movies or listenning to music, ready just to press the start button.

Pro tip: This only works when you're doing it using the stand-alone software.
I for the life of me cannot get this working as a VST inside Ableton.
Hey there. I’m on Logic Pro X, not Ableton. But I’m still in the process of setting up my new MK3 and having the same problem as you. When you press settings, it doesn’t give you the ‘Audio’ option at all.
Please let me know if you were able to figure anything out to sample something into the Maschine and then into your DAW.

Thanks for the content sir. Quick question tho. How come I’m only hearing audio from 1 headphone. I got the same cable ur using and can only see a signal coming into 1 channel unless I select mono. Please help. Btw it’s not the cable. Ordered a brand new one and still the same issue
Thanks man, I’ve watched this and the other video multiple times and almost gave up. I then realized that perhaps it was my PC that was the issue and sure enough it was. I now can sample with my iPhone to MK3! Appreciate these posts!

This is a super sloppy video, I'm surprised it's actually a remake to make it not sloppy... You don't even show how to save a sample. 50 seconds of silence starting at 3:51 where there's nothing going on in the video. Are you serious?

I can't figure out why my sound is so low when I export them anywhere other than my DAW. I can't fugue out what I'm doing wrong.
Is it mixed? Is it normalized?
I've got the same settings and the same exact cable and when I go to the sampler its not getting any audio. Not sure why
Bro when I get the sound it sounds really low, I figure it's because of my threshold but I have to have it around -50 for the maschine to hear it. Is there a way to increase the volume beyond going into the mixer? It only lets me increase the dbs to 10 which is still low. I have my interface turned all the way up and i can hear it but the sound quality is no where near the sound I get when playing sounds I have from Komplete 13
I've literally done everything in this video TWICE and still can't sample yet........smh
Maybe I’ll make an updated video. It still should work though. Some people didn’t have the knob on the back of the Maschine turned. Up.

I have the 3 way plug with the aux cable. I plugged into the computer and still no signal. But... i get sound from the room picking up in the mk3 like a microphone picks up noise in the room. What steps am I missing?
Are they plugged in properly?

Do I need a computer to samp,sample, movie clips so our band can have samp,especially for song intros, or can we just use a phone or tablet
This is the Machine MK3 so you would need a computer to use it but if you get the Maschine + you won’t need a computer.

I’m using a Komplete audio 6, I had the line In to the maschine going from the headphone out on the interface
my problem in this was that I needed to change my sound settings on my computer to Headphone port to be able to get it to detect on my maschine, now i'm good to go.
Tried it out but it still doesn't work for me. Mic gain is up, all the settings match yours but still no sound in.

I have this terrrible white noise in the recorded sample does anybody know how to fix it when i turn the gain down a little it goes away but then i does not record either lol and i can see it visually on the screen too bumping up and down the whole tim

I need help. Every time I go to settings to check the audio input I just have the options for general and hardware. No audio input settings. Everything else is connected properly

I have alot of samples but they're mainly in mp3 form due to being downloadeded from UA-cam, is there a way to load them in maschine? I've tried converting them in audacity but I feel like the sample loses quality.
Stuart O'R if you got Studio One or the plug-in Serato sampler you could drop it in one of those if you got Studio One you could drop it in Studio One and then put it into a folder I don't know if this help you or not how so

idk anymore, I have the same exact settings as you but as soon as I plug my phone into the maschine using the same exact cables it's not working. The cables are new too.
Are your monitors plugged into your Mk3?
@@DDS825 waitttt! bro you know what it was? my dumb mic gain wasn't turned on. I literally turned my mic gain knob all the way on and it works now. lol wow....
also yes, my monitors are also plugged in because I use my mk3 as my main interface. so yeah if anyone has the same problem as me before, just make sure your mic gain knob on your mk3 is turned all the way up to max or at least turned up enough to capture audio coming in through. but anywho once again thanks for the informative video D, always appreciate your look out for the maschine community and hope 2020 blesses you.

Anything above $100 will do to get you rolling, but Audio Technica ATH-M50x ($150 but often on sale) and the ATH-M40x ($100) are the way to go these days.

And no matter what audio source (DJ mixer, phone, built-in mic) i use or what cable - there's zero sound coming into the Maschine sampler (the meters show zero activity). Yes, used the right settings - selecting MK3 / IN 1 L+R as source. Mic input gain up. HP monitoring on. When i plug same cables/sound source into another interface it works fine, so it's not the source. I'm a 20+ year music prod pro too lol. Driving me nuts. TF is going on?
I actually figure it out.. It was my mac not allowing the sound.. Once I went into my sounds option I was able to get the sound out.. I think that's a part people leave out is the computer settings..
