When Kishore Kumar sings for Khayyam, he sounds so much more melodious, rich and sonorous. Khayyam's compositions can't be described in words, you only have to feel them. He was a perfectionist. Listen to the interludes, they are so complex pieces of music that they instantly take you to a different level altogether. Sometimes I wonder is this for real ?. Salute to the duo.

Lata ji 's voice so melidius and Kishore saheb's voice so heavy and so magnatic and they both sang the song very consistently. At that time when the song was recorded there was no technology and once Kishore kumar sang... Hazaar rahe and every time again to sing hazaar rahe, he would sing again afresh and in the same style, to maintain that consistently is very difficult.

Why does the song seem so fresh 43 years since it first released? The combination of Gulzar, Khayyam and Kishore + Lata produced a masterpiece for ages. Even today the song takes me back to my school days when I first saw and heard this song. Such beautiful lyrics still strike a chord with us even today. I wish they wrote such classics today and people would appreciate them. Now musicians focus more on Sound and auto-tune than natural singing except for a few singers who sound original. Miss those yesteryears when Music was pure and the song touched the soul.
