Aston Villa's recent drop in form has coincided with the reintegration of several players returning from long-term injuries back into the first team. Not saying that's the only reason. But it's definitely a factor and appears, it is taking longer to get the whole squad up to speed with each other, than Unai Emery would have wished for. Hopefully, they will 'click' together sooner, rather than later, and while the gap in points between the other teams at the top is still extremely small - with only 1 point separating 3rd place from 9th place. A lot of teams competing for the European qualification spots this season.
My predictions: 1st Liverpool 2nd Man City 3rd Arsenal 4th Chelsea 5th Newcastle United 6th Tottenham 7th Brighton 8th Man United 9th Aston Villa 10th Nottingham Forest 11th Fulham 12th Brentford 13th Bournemouth 14th West Ham 15th Everton 16th Crystal Palace 17th Leicester City 18th Wolves 19th Ipswich Town 20th Southampton
Nottingham Forest definetely could be this seasons surprise. Milenkovic is such a gem. My worry is the goals could dry up some. Other players than Wood need to chip in with goals more.
Yeah I love Woody but he ain't a spring chicken, hoping for maybe 20-25 games from him. I am assuming they are working hard behind the scenes to get Taiwo's killer instinct back because he was poor in that Newcastle game in the cup he played. A sharp and lethal Taiwo might be difference between 7/8 and 11/12 in the league if/when Woods age catches up with him.
I agree with the top 7. 8-11 Brighton, Forest, Brentford, Man U. 12-14 Fulham, B'mouth, Wolves. 15-17 West Ham, Leicester, Everton Bottom 3 Palace Ipswich, Saints
I think we could nick at most a 5th place finish, Fabian has done incredible with the squad, but we have to be clinical in the matches we are favored in, because we haven't really done that this season. (2-2 With wolves and 0-0 with Ipswich namely) If we can pull those results into wins, and keep everyone in shape without too many key injuries, I can see a 5th place finish, maybe just sneak p4 but that feels like a stretch. I'm leaning more towards a p6 finish for my Seagulls. Great stuff Matt!
Get your money on a Brighton top 4 finish. Had the hardest fixtures so far and most days lost to injuries. Hurtzler’s tactics and game management are improving all the time.
I made two huge mistakes in my preseason predictions. The biggest is that I predicted Nottingham Forest would be relegated. I'll happily put my hand up and admit I was wrong. They've been great.
David Moyes had to go but he might have been better supported, by the board, in his final season, when the club had a disastrous second half of it. DM was also offered a new contract but he turned it down, so they had to look for someone else. Lop looked a safe pair of hands but it's not looking good, obviously. Nobody really wanted him, but David Sullivan. I don't think anyone thought it was going to be this bad though.
For the bottom six in the table, I do this it will be very similar, except one of the teams in 15-17 will swap with one of the newly promoted teams I think (besides southampton ), but who those two will be anyone's guesses. Right now i'm thinking Palace and Leicester, but could easily be any of them
I still think Arsenal have a chance, but right now for me it's:1. Manchester City 2. Liverpool 3. Arsenal 4. Newcastle 5. Aston Villa 6. Chelsea 7. Tottenham 8. Brighton.

idk why people are predicting united to have a bad season, we just hired a new great manager and we're looking to buy some great players in january. deffo top 6 for us.

Bit harsh on Bournemouth they look best out of the golden trinity of survivors to me and I am a Forest fan.
