      @@soundproofingexpert777 this new smaller space full of stuff after moving over. Plan is to get it all in a gazebo, build a couple of false walls, Rockwool slab the party wall and ceiling, maybe use Knauf roll for the rest, air gap, then 18mm MDF on the outside. Should probably include some kind of damp proof membrane as well somewhere. Trying to do it all on a budget is a nightmare as you know!

    another question, what timber are you using? i'dit 89mm cls, or proper 100mm stuff? not sure how well the insulation compresses from 100mm

    • @soundproofingexpert777
      @soundproofingexpert777  3 місяці тому +1

      It's 89mm CLS - the Rockwool has a bit of give in it at 100mm so works ok!

    Hello, thanks for your content. Can I ask - to seal the outer roof did you just squeeze wool along the eves and up at the apex? Did you do any other sound proofing to the external roof structure? Thank you again! Gavin

      Someone else had put some insulation high up in the roof before we started. Other than that the roof isn't insulated above the lower ceiling we have built 👍🏻

      Thank you. Can I check that the ceiling construction from inside the room up is: 2 x plasterboard. Wool. Wool stuffed into the existing truss ‘ceiling’ tie. The open space of the garage roof. Tiles. Outside. ? Thanks for this. I’m doing a similar build at my house and this is so helpful. (I thought you might have extra plasterboard on the existing truss) Gavin

    Really brilliant to see, Would this make the project cheaper as you don’t have to build the external walls/concrete base Ect ? Im currently trying to buy a house and have a studio either in the garden/garage. Paying rent on my teaching/practice space right now and a home studio is the dream!

    • @soundproofingexpert777
      @soundproofingexpert777  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes it is definitely cheaper to covert a garage than build from scratch! 👍🏻

    Is this build just getting 2 layers of insulation? I think for the timber ones there have usually been 3. Do the brick walls negate the need to for the third layer?

    • @soundproofingexpert777
      @soundproofingexpert777  3 місяці тому +1

      That's right just 2 layers as the brick replaces the outer layer of Rockwool. 👍🏻
