Thank you.
One thing is certain about RG III- HE CAN TAKE A HIT AND GET RIGHT UP AND THROW A TD. He also throws a very good ball. It'll be interesting to see how he develops in the NFL.
RG3 is amazing hes put this team on his back although his recievers are amazing too.
Much better comment than these others I'm reading. You make a great point and I agree with pretty much all of it. People are obviously going to compare them because of the similarities they have with each other. RG3 is probably the most athletic QB to ever get into the NFL. He is really exciting to watch and I am hoping he can accomplish even more than Cam although it isn't likely. We'll see, I'm pumped.
Thak you. That's what I've been trying to tell people
i have alot of respect for quarterbacks who can take a hit
Griffin showed a lot in this game to me. He can take the hits and he has a good arm strength. I just don't know if Washington's line is good enough to protect him but I'm sure with boot legs and roll out he will be fine.
This man just always took big hits even in college no wonder he got broken in the league sheesh
I would hope they build a stronger line than their previous years to go far this year.
He'll do fine if he doesn't get hurt. He's got speed (he was a pretty good hurdler in in track in college) and he excelled at a smaller school against pretty good teams. I guess I'm w/ most here, I'll have to wait, but he's pretty good now. I like the Redskins. Most QB's outta college don't really run well, they're pocket guys who do well in a perfect system. The scramblers like Cam and Tebow and Vick and Vince (to a degree) and others are the one's that give themselves / team the best chance.
After seeing this video, I am convinced that RG3 will be ready to play for the pros. Reason being, the protection that offensive line gave him has got to be the worst thing I've ever seen in a Baylor game. Now the Skins don't have the greatest of all lines, but they are very serviceable. If he can make those plays with that type of line, he can do it with the skins.
i kind of agree with you. a lot of his big plays were when the dbs made a mistake. He throws a ball and then his recievers do the work. this is the only film i have really seen from rg3. Oklahoma had a lot of blown coverage in this game.
He took hits all game. Monster
dude is amazing to watch.
Notice how great Kendall Wright plays too. He could be a steal in the draft.
Correction MsJx56, the game v. # 25.Texas Longhorns with 17th nationally ranked total defense in 2011 won the Heisman for RG III.
just start watching from 10:35 and youll be sold...this guys great.
Great slant pass to beat the blitz at 2:55. He was getting beaten up before then and still made that big play with a man in his face. Big time play, big time qb.
5 Reasons your point is invalid:
1. Jason Smith was drafted in 2009 and turned out to be a bust in St. Louis
2. The Danny Watkins pick was criticized as everyone expected him to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder
3. They run a 2/3 shotgun offense similar to the one the Patriots used to run when they had Randy Moss
4. The center's name is Phillip Blake and he is not the #2 center as he is projected to be a late round pick
5. Kendall Wright is considered the 3rd best receiver and projects as a slot receiver
robert griffin is a beast hands down
@brlloyd why wont his game translate? hes a pocket passer plus he doesnt just star down one guy. Reads the defense well, has a cannon for an arm and is accurate. The fact that he runs a sub 4.4 is just a bonus to all of that.
Well, not to beat a dead horse, but everyone doubted Newton when he was selected #1 overall. And Griffin is supposedly more ready than Newton was. I don't know if Griffin will throw for 4,000+ yd, but I won't be surprised if he does throw for over 4k yd. The game is changing now. More and more rookie QBs come in and have some sort of success in their rookie year.
Is that their 4x100 relay?...dam those guys are fast
@chubroq006 the thing is that tons of other college QBs run offenses like that, but just about none of them orchestrate it quite like griffin does. He's putting up phenomenal stats, so that's where the hype comes from. I don't know how scouts grade QBs. Matt Barkley and Dan Persa are most impressive to me
man i hope this guy enters the draft!!! can you say rg3 in miami!!
I wish we had had a better o-line this past season :(
Hell yea I was at this game and I ran on the field but i was looking for Erin Andrews not celebrating with the team
His body mechanics are fine, light years ahead of say a Tim Tebow. His challenge, like all spread option QBs, will be taking the ball under center and making reads while he back-pedals. Tebow shows the worst possibilities for spread option QBs while Cam Newton shows the best possibilities. Only time will tell with RG III.
Does Griffin always take a while to get the ball out?
As an Eagles fan, all i can say is Im happy the Skins got RGIII. Hes not gonna pan out. He throws floaters. He has a nice arm for long balls but its easy in college when you have a 1st round WR.
The Skins did what they do by giving a whole lot to appease their fans. As long as Snyder is there they will suck.
Im sure RG3 is a nice guy and a smart guy but He just doesnt look like an NFL qb.
i like this camera view
Osi and JPP sure showed him...He'll never leave his home again
Hopefully the Redskins can fix their o-line problems. Give him some time and if he makes the right decisions he will be a great player. Just look how good he did with the pocket collapsing almost every down.
WOW!! Clearly Oklahoma has its own bounty program so many dirty hits in just that 14 min footage alone YIKES!
That slide at 6:48 was a thing of beauty
Unfortunately he couldn't do that in the nfl
i say colts have a better chance with griffin than luck, same arm power and griffin can run and create time
@gocuselax it all depends on what the skins do in free agency. say we get eric winston to replace the horrible jamaal brown. the line would be good. but i completely agree
He has a somewhat of an awkward mechanics in the pocket, but that is something that will get fixed by the Redskins coaching staff during training camp. Can't wait to see him play as a pro.
@YBRR88 You have no idea what you're looking at. RG3 is extremely accurate with the football. That is one of his strengths.
and how many times has Vick been out with injury?
biggest dissapointment-- "and YES A TOUCHDOWN but a flag is down.."
my dream 3 round mock draft
1st:Robert Griffin iii
2nd:Kendall Wright(good familiar Wr)
3rd:Xavier rhodes
This is why he is so much better than Cam Newton
Look at all of these NFL caliber throws
His ball placement is excellent
I'm a wide receiver and free safety
I'd love to be a wide receiver on his team any day, but I'd hate to play against him
Whats lost in here is that I like RG3, I'm really excited to see him play, but he will be playing behind an offensive line that gave up 41 sacks last year. Ware, the Giants Pass rushers, Trent Cole, They play the Ravens and Steelers. I'm saying he will have to play good pass rushers very early in his develpment. I would say that RG3 is better than Cam Newton is already. But Shanahan is not known for adapting to his quarterbacks needs. I think he's exciting, but he's not a finished product yet.
Game wouldn't translate to the NFL, but at 7:12 you can barely him motioning to throw the ball. Unreal
I want to see him in the open field so bad. Never seen a video where he is running at full speed in a game.
Yeah how about Sam Bradfords line at Oklahoma. Didnt see people downgrading him.3 of them were drafted and all 5 were in NFL camps
sure they were talking about him he was in the Heisman conversation prior to this game. But when you look at what this game was riding on the fact that RG3 had never beat Baylor the fact that Oklahoma had an opportunity to play for the NC game had they won this game and the fact that Griffin had so many NFL throws in this game. This game all but solidified him the Heisman. Sure he didn't have the hype that Andy Luck had who was projected to be the #1 pick the year b4 this but still RG3 was known
RG3 is a sick athlete...HTTR
Second longest TD run in QB history.
Even if I got that tape they probably wouldnt let me show it on here
N0TS0SUBTLE your comment is N0TS0SUBTLE ... He is fast, accurate and can run and he won the Heisman. What more do you want?
Griffin played more top 30 Defenses than luck. and played better against them than Luck too. And Im in the Pac12. AZ state baby. However, they both will be good in the NFL.
@Ryan Carson thats why he has 3 ws ib division
Dont compare the Skins to the Patriots. They are really in a class of their own the way they have been competitive for over a decade. Most of that is because of Brady but a lot of that has to do with their management and coach.
Dude if you trust what people on ESPN say you dont know sports. The only reason they say that is because RG3 has more physical talent and because they wanna go against the grain. Luck is the most NFL ready qb in a long long time
@friedchichicken9 But is the line really all that better in Washington? I like the kid. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and all the physical ability in the world, and you can argue that if Luck went to Baylor and Griffin went to Stanford, behind that line, RG3 would be the first overall pick, but I need to see more accuracy under pressure.
this was a fun game
Cam Newton broke throwing rookie records in the National Football League. Cam is the better QB. RG3 is good, but he won't do what Cam did.
OU was trying to take him out of this game. RG3 was getting CRUSHED on every play
i like RGIII but if i see him get hit like he does in this game in the nfl..he won't last long for seasons.
Well, no prospect is ever a slam dunk. No matter how much of a "can't miss" they are.
@SwishaT Agreed! If not him, I want Matt Barkley.
Actually he does not run enough. He has been criticized a lot for staying in the pocket too long. Also, Cam Newton was an extremely good rookie QB. He had no help from his team outside of Deangelo Williams and Steve Smith. I seen Newton play against my Saints in week 17 in the dome. He is extremely talented. His team's defense was horrible, i mean extremely horrible.
I feel like he slid a lot more at Baylor then he did in his rookie season.
his arm is crazy
And how is the outcome different? You finished in last place for the 5th time in 10 years and missed the playoffs for the 8th time in 10.
It Andrew luck, Matt barkley and Robert Griffin III
@deadfresh10 Yeah, I get the stats thing. I guess it's kind of hard to judge when it's a QB in college. A lot of QBs making the leap from college to NFL that may even seem like they're "NFL-ready" turn out to be busts. A non-traditional QB like Cam didn't seem NFL-ready as a pocket-passer to me either. I guess I'll just trust the scouts at their job and spotting talent while they're still in the NFL.
They could, but time will only tell if they do. Until then, I'm not annointing them. Especially RGIII.
no it didnt, people werent even talking about Rg3 until this game
This game won him the heisman
i guess the reason why the pats lost the sb was because of there owner. or there winning seasons have nothing to do with belichick or tom brady. what does a typical nfl qb look like. cam newton? drew brees? mike vic? eli manning? peyton manning? you say he doesnt look like an nfl qb but most espn analyst say hes going to do well and maybe better than andrew luck.
im just sayin that vick takes alot of hits and hes just fine, RG3 will be fine in the NFL
?? You have NO idea what you are talking about bro. TCU was top 30 when they played, so was OU, and Texas. I know they didnt look like it when Griffin played em, but thats what happens when greatness shows up.
@gocuselax i began to agree with you but then i started watching the offesnive line. they played so horribly i just cant seem to blame him. im a skins fan and after watching some highlight videos ive begun to become a little scared of him. he seems to make many bad plays as well as many great plays
I was totally sold on RG3... Until I saw this. His forces throws, his receivers seem to slow down to catch passes which are thrown in way too hard and he doesn't know the speed of his teammates.I like his speed and I like that he passes first. I have questions about his footwork as far as snapping the ball in a pure pro offense. I don't see Shanahan converting the Skins to a spread offense.
John elway, young and Farve all ran.. It dosen't make you less of a quarterback. Im a redskins fan and Cams are is better than most.
hes sick man
he is in the nfl lol
RG3 may not do what Cam did as far as passing yards or number of touchdowns, but it definitely helped Cam's stats that his defense was one of the worst in the NFL. As far athletic talents, I think RG3 surpasses him. I also believe him to be smarter. These two really aren't a good comparison. Different body types, different styles of running, and two different arms.
are you not aware that cam broke rookie passing records ?
Based on this video i wouldn't take him in the first round. His long passes his WR are almost always wide open. Takes way too much hits, refs should have called allot of those, just like how vick gets treated in the league. Those smaller athletic QBs typically don't work out in the nfl.More accurate than early Vick, but don't have he arm strength. He can't be taller than 6'2/6'1. I'd take the Arizona qb over him and am a fan of RG3
RG3 isn't going be able to make deep plays with oline that he has right. Remember who is in the division. JPP, Tuck, Cole, Babin, Ratliff and..... Demarcus Ware.
@JMPasq
Behind who?
i agree but oklahoma looks like they blitzed a lot
hes bigger than vick and vick never slides in the NFL...
He definitely needs to work on his accuracy when overthrowing those wide open receivers. If he doesn't,the Redskins will hate him as a rookie.
Why exactly is RG3 a perfect fit in the Skins system? Explain to me instead of spitting out what they say on TV. In the Skins system is the QB not required to make reads? Is it not important for him make a tight throw on 3rd and long?
The only reason people say he fits is because hes mobile and Shannahan likes calling the rollout passes. But I guarantee Shannahan, Snyder and every Skins fan would rather have Luck, who is better at the rollouts than rg3 anyway
2011 seems like yesterday
That's why I said it. That's also why I said his mechanics are fine.
this is my first time watchin RG3 and I am amazed He deserves to go to the nfl
@SportsGuy2194 Wow what an intelligent argument. Ponder has a weak arm, questionable decision making ability and has serious injury concerns. He had no buisness being drafted that high
You have to have faith in your team
correct but the reason rg3 never beat baylor is pretty self explanatory...
Dude that made no sense..just because his reaction time at the QB postition is sky high and his playaction and ball fakes are quick and perceiving doesn't mean that he's nervous and figgity. At times, yeah, he's indecisive and or just tries to thread the needle with some passes under pressure..in this game particularly, a lot because of the immediate pressure. Tough to judge, considering the fact that he seemed pressured right from the snap a lot of plays, but I'd like to seeotherQB escapeliketh
holy fuck he literally was getting hit almost every time he dropped back to pass.
wow, you should let someone know! all those nfl scouts actually think he's good!
nice but one can see the difference to nfl here
What are you talking about? You act like he's a run first QB. He's a pocket passer. .....
With 4.4 speed.
you cant say that because vick is a something year veteran and RG3 is a rookie who hasent even taken a snap yet... when RG3 completes his first year then you can compare him to vick
