Hi Darren, The J24 was my first sailboat. I found it easy to single hand and fun to sail. I sold it and "upgraded" to a Newport 27 to accomodate more family members. The Newport is a nice boat but I prefer the J24 for its nimbleness and easy maintenance (no throughhulls, no inboard motor, easy to clean etc). I would highly recommend this boat for singlehanded day/bay sailing.

I spotted a hawk 20 which is a great little boat but slightly too small, recently I have learned of the j24 and from reading reviews and watching some videos online I think this is the perfect boat for me.. what speed can these boats accomplish..?
