We mustn't let this narrow victory over the Dutch deceive us into overconfidence. Our performance was lackluster, to say the least. If we face a strong opponent like Spain and Harry Kane plays like a holographic spirit, it could be lights out for us. He needs to step up his game if we are to stand a chance against a formidable team like Spain. Our players are better but we dont score team goals, we score wonder goals in the last minute, penalties given from God while Spain play as a unit scoring goals for fun.

I seriously don't get why people say England have the best squad or individuals. In my eyes, that's either overrating England or underrating Spain, even with a depleted squad full with injuries.
English teams have the names and whatnot, but when it comes to performing they never match up to the expectations. Like ... ever. Maybe that's a big telling.
Man for man England have a better squad. Spain have a well oiled machine at the moment and that could be enough to put England to bed.

Nowadays we hear the hype and see young exciting players in action. Nico Williams, Rodri and Carvahal haven't surprised me one bit this tournament but Yamal has. I didn't think he would be able to deal with this level of competition at his age but he's been phenomenal. Let's hope he is managed well and doesn't get rushed like Pedri and his awful injuries.

@@IWannatalkpodcast I know he handled him during the FA cup but this is different. I’m definitely worried about Rodri running the show. He’s their orchestrator and I think the English defense can crowd out the wingers. Walker especially can handle Williams.

@goodnessobah2926 Imo England have a wider array of different options. Spain have some very good players, but a lot of them have similar profiles so they don't have the same swiss army knife of a bench that we have, that's why people say we have a better squad, on the basis that we have more potential solutions on the bench compared to any other team.
There's a drop off with Spain's team, illustrated by Jesus Navas and his struggles against France. It's fair to say Spain's first team are firing more cohesively than England, but the longer the game goes on, the more things start favouring England (assuming we make the right decisions which certainly isn't a given!).
Spain are a more cohesive team, that’s all.

Saka is better than yamal. Foden better than williams, bellingahm better than olmo, walker better than carvahal, shaw better than cucurella, stones better than nacho, only rodri and ruiz possibly laporte would get into the England team.

Stones and Walker will have to step up coming from a press resistant team like city but i do worry about Declan Rice

England will smash Spain. There is no question about it. The team needs to disrupt the Spanish rhythm and stop Spain from keeping the ball, just like the Germans did. If England let Spain have the ball, I don't see any way around it to win the game. Invest a lot in midfield and stop them from possessing a lot of ball. Then Spain are very beatable. I will go for 2-0 to England!!
Stopping Rodri is the key because he’s the one who dictates the tempo you speak of. We can play a ‘box’ in midfield a which will hassle and isolate him. Then we can get into space on the turnover, and create chances.

England have been absolutely terrible even against Holland. The luck we have had seems like God has finally got involved with match fixing which means Gareth has-been blessed so far. Kane starting will cost us because attack needs to be our first line of defence which has not been the case in most teams so Kane starting will be the last mistake Gareth will make before he is asked to go. He needs a good slap to ensure he no longer needs luck by playing Watkins and Palmer at the beginning not 20 mins from the end.
