West Sumatra

One of our spots visited in Sumatra was the region between Padang and Bukittinggi in West Sumatra
Beside these two big cities we have seen picturesque landscapes like Sianok Canyon (Ngarai Sianok), the panoramic viewing point at Puncak Lawang, Lake Maninjau (Danau Maninjau), the 44 hair pins road , or the grand palace at Pagaruyung (Istano Basa Pagaruyung). Furthermore we could gain insight in traditional farming (rice fields and sugar cane fields)and traditional sugar production.
Jam Gadang (clock tower) the icon of Bukittinggi is a must see and in Padang you should not miss the Grand Mosque of West Sumatra (Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat) or the Siti Nurbaya Bridge (Jembatan Siti Nurbaya).
