Biden has increased my physical strength. I can lift a $100 bag of groceries with one finger. Under Trump I’d have to use my whole hand.
Best comment!
Trumps overspending was $7’9T, reflected under Biden
She is worth $7 million and currently makes $700K per year. So of course her economy is doing just fine.
Definitely worth more than 7 million
So, whose fault is it? Biden’s?

Shit cake at that.
Ok. So what’s the solution?
@@gabrielmcgaha2379 well, given the fact that his top economic advisor doesn't even understand how our monetary system, treasury bonds, and the Federal Reserve works, I don't think anyone on the Biden team has a solution. And given their apathetic responses in press briefings and interviews, I'm not entirely sure they really are looking for solutions. It seems like the only things they are concerned with is sending money to Ukraine and Israel, incriminating Donald Trunp, and toying around with various social justice gimmicks such as DEI.

Yes, well paid tv types like Ruhle are exactly who should be explaining how inflation isn't a big deal.
She didn’t say it wasn’t a big deal.
Do you think she would help me with the new roof I can't afford?
They aren't lowering prices because the economy is getting better, they're lowering them because their sales are decreasing. Better to make a little less than none at all!
I’m not confused. I don’t listen to corporate media anymore.
2 bags of groceries last night was $200
Two bags of groceries what are you buying filet mignon. We got two used to buying high-end goods when times were super super good inflation was very low. Those things cannot always continue especially with the way the US government printed money through covid.

I guess we will eat cake then..
Is she seriously trying to gaslight the entire country!
It always cracks me up when people think that after 250 years of capitalism store owners JUST figured out that they make more money if they raise prices. Yeah, that makes sense. Capitalism ensures that if one goods or services provider decides to raise prices, their competitors can benefit by offering shoppers a lower price.
It took 250 years to completely consolidate industry so that there would be no competition threatening to lower profit margins. Now grocery prices can be levered up as much as government funds will allow for. Just the same way it works for college tuition.
@@benjamindover4337, there is competition. Lots of it, actually. The price increase is unrelated to the number of retail outlets. There are at least five grocery outlets within a 10 minute drive of my house owned by separate companies. The present surge in prices is not due to a sudden decrease in the quantity of grocery stores.
@@Zaphod771 all of those companies have different names, but are owned by the same major shareholders who implement the same practices across all of their holdings. You know, it's like they say, if you don't like it, you can go somewhere else. But all of the other places are the same. That's the reality of the situation now. This isn't your fantasy world of theoretical economics. This is actually reality.
Grocery stores aren’t responsible for higher prices. Apocalyptically unwise government policy has devalued your cash
$7.29 for a bag of chips. $7.99 for a 20 oz jar of mayo. $7.99 lb of butter. These people can go blank themselves.
Don't worry! you are now only 10 feet under water instead of 20! look how much better things are for you!!
Not true. The water level has been rising this entire time. It’s just now rising at a slower rate.
It’s more accurate to say we’re now 30 ft under water instead of 20, but at least the it’s just sprinkling instead of the monsoon we had.
😂
Inflation is still cranking along, not much different than a year ago. Maybe some of the 'experts' should actually go the grocery store and get a hands-on experience, before making any claims about inflation.
Best analogy is: inflation is like a gas pedal (not onepedal ev kind) - full throttle inflation gets prices flying. Let go of the pedal (inflation =0),after several quarters - prices are still flying high.
Darling, darling, darling, Consuela does all the marketing! She's a treasure! A tiny bit illegal, but that's why her wages are so REASONABLE!
My revenue is 70% lower than before Biden. Not sure what's confusing about that. Stephanie Rhule used to tell us that inflation is transitory. She'll say whatever the teleprompter reads as long as it pays for more plastic surgery.
My favorite meme online is the one that says:
_If the economy was so great, you wouldn't need to keep telling us. We'd know._

I don't know where people are getting these numbers from butt in the world that I live in everything has gone up everything that I have that I buy how's going up 50 to 100% not 9% not 3%. Add my income has not gone up at all.
In dictatorships like China or Russia, the government cooks the economic data. No different under Biden. I've also calculated about 60% in the last 3 years, or nearly 20%/year.
when the economists declared inflation as it being transitory, the wh spokesperson kept equating prices to inflation (Rather that rate of change of prices).
HOWEVER, that was intentionally misleading to the lay person.
Only a few people understood and knew that price increases we witness will be permanent, until we witness negative inflation(deflation).
The price increases we witnessed are permanent. Retailers rarely adjust prices downward.
@@tcorourke2007Best analogy is: inflation is like a gas pedal (NOT onepedal ev kind) - full throttle inflation gets prices flying. Let go of the pedal (inflation =0),after several quarters - prices are still flying high.
I like Robby. He always seems to focus on reality and not just talking points.
Rich people do not understand the problems of poor people.
She hasn't bought groceries, gas or paid rent in many years.
How do you know that?
Grocery stores make on average, about a 2% profit margin. My taxes on groceries are in the 5% range, but only because I'm in a relatively low tax state (the state doesn't even tax groceries, just municipal and county sales tax). Some places, it's over 10%.
So, the government is making 2 - 5x the 'profit' on every dollar sold of groceries, and they think the grocers are greedy? At least the grocers are providing the groceries.
Ding ding ding. We have a winner! Very few people have articulated this and why the government won't fix it. Every government is taking in a ton of tax money. Your city, county, state and schools are all getting percentage of value. My home valuation has gone up 50% therefore my taxes have gone up 50%
It's not corporate greed, it's government greed.
Doing quite well?? Ya right. 😢
I hope people realize that it’s not just inflation from printing dollars but also the slow but growing movement away from the petro dollar.

Remember, what happened the last time they said just let them eat cake? Marie Antoinette…
There's no confusion for me: with the same amount of money that I paid for food under Trump, I only get half of it, or less, by now. My sons are at the verge of homelessness, because of rent increase versus wages.
My wife and I just spent $450 at the grocery store, that is for two weeks. That used to be more than enough for at least a month.
MSNBC needs an economic babysitter.
I paid $1.89 for a loaf of bread yesterday that should have been 0.69, and that was the cheapest I have seen bread in months
Trust me we are not confused
Grocer here. You are paying more because I’m charging you more because I’m paying more.
Even if the inflation was 0, they are not going to ever lower prices significantly.
I pointed this out over on The Hill. You can't have your cake and eat it. Either Joe feels your pain, or you're not in pain. Both can't be true simultaneously. It's the economy, stupid.
I’m sorry, but you are wrong. High prices were not due to the government pumping money into the economy, please. Most of the high prices are due to the fact that the capitalist classes were shut down for more than 12 months in 2020. And after things opened back up they needed to extract their pound of flesh, and more, by raising prices to earn back the money they had lost. Which is what they did. The first rule of capitalism is maximize profits. Inflation went from 8.5%, (the cash grab) to 3.5%. But once you got the people paying more, the capitalist are not going to take their foot off the gas pedal (pun intended), remember the first rule of capitalism? If you can’t see that it was fake inflation, then I’m sorry.

Printing too much money can lead to inflation, which is a general increase in the prices of goods and services. This can lower the purchasing power and value of the money, and if the government prints too much money, it can become worthless. For example, in the 1920s, Germany printed more money to meet Allied reparations, which led to hyperinflation and the collapse of the economy. over 1/3 as the US currency was printed in the last three years
Corporate greed doesn’t work if they don’t all do it. If Aldi is cheaper, we’ll all go to Aldi.
Most people say that they are doing well but they thinj others are not doing well.
So the widely reported 9% inflation a couple of years ago is now over and prices are back. This is not how things work so that 9% is there and is still increasing each year. I hate where these people making well into six figures telling those people near the poverty line that costs have not increased!
Corporate greed argument... Supply chain issues from covid and prices increased. Record profits gained, supply chain went back to normal but prices are sticky so they did not decrease. They are literally bragging on earnings calls about consumers being willing accepting higher prices. Also just look at the stock market, are the corporate profits struggling, are they going to drop proces just because, or are they going to keep prices high until it hits their bottom line? Its also more than just grocery stores in the food chain. Look at how almost every category of food is run by either a duopoly or oligopoly meaning there is no competition.
Classic if it's better I'm responsible, if it's worse it's someone else's fault. People buy it.
The view from the Ruhling Class.
My newest favourite is Joe Scarborough who keeps saying “people are at cocktail parties complaining about the economy” yeah Joe it’s just the whiny champagne socialists who are the problem, not the squeezing of the poor working class with years of inflation.
Yes! I'm definitely making more money. All I had to do was to work between 50 and 60 hours a week to do it.
How many American children go to bed hungry every night? Last I heard it was in the millions and this is in a country that boasts of having a great economy.
Everyone in Rule’s orbit is doing quite well; while everyone under their orbit is getting raked against the economic coals!!!
Robbbbiieeeeee
The Fed released a study of corporate profit _margins_ , which are what actually matter, in order to answer the "corporate greed" question. They found that they're basically unchanged from before the pandemic and follow the same pattern as the recoveries from the last three recessions.
Boycott fast food and target. Let them go bankrupt.
'Let them eat Value Meals.' --Marie-Antoinette Ruhle
Inflation was not caused by the government. It is price gouging as corporate profits soar. There has already been several cases of price fixing going through the courts. But I am confident you would be against that and it just so happens that Libertarian policies almost always favors capital over workers.
You even denied price fixing at grocery store. The top egg producers are in court right now for price fixing. Also oil companies conspired with OPEC to raise prices, costing families thousands of dollars a year - probably something you would defend.
FJB. GO Trump.
I think that standard metrics for inflation under-report the actual extent of inflation. When prices go up while wages stay the same, people shift to less expensive alternatives. I used to routinely buy rib-eye steaks. Now I look for mark downs on meat for beef stew. Beef has gone up a lot - but imagine what it would be like if more people weren't buying more chicken. Now it seems like cheap alternatives are just not that cheap in grocery stores. Potatoes, onions, and rutabagas are 50% the price of chicken, despite the inefficiency of conversion of feed to meat.
Obama and Biden both redefined how the govt calculates inflation. Of course their official statistics underreport the severity of their policy consequences.
Ohhh. A guy from the federal reserve, the source of all of our problems…. Now I’m assuaged.
Only 30% of the OZONE LAYER is left !
I'm not confused.
Inflation was and is much higher than is being reported. We need an independent body reporting economic information. The current reports are generated and cooked by the government.

I bring home as much as I did under Trump, I actually earn more but my taxes are a little higher. My grocery bills are higher, it costs more to fill my gas tank and, my 401K is worth less. Please, keep telling me how well Bidenomics is working.
I wish they would put these two together on The Hill. They keep putting idiots with Robbie and with Amber separately. I guess The Hill is too liberal to put a Conservative and Libertarian together without their Socialists.

Ruhle and the other talking heads are being quite disingenuous by citing what are obviously "loss leaders" being offered by those businesses.
The quality of analysis has plummeted at Reason over the last decade. Were they bought out or has the rampant mediocrity plaguing the nation struck Reason as well? While they’re largely not wrong in this analysis, the quality of their arguments has become conversational and not as sophisticated or in depth as previously.
Stephanie Ruhle has a long history of these types of comically tone deaf statements about business and the economy. These is a prime example of how our current aristocracy is so completely out of touch with (as they deem the rest of us) the peasants and plebes. Like right before the French Revolution, let them eat cake out of touch with reality.
Ruhle logic - What, the peasants aren't happy with their $3 slop meal from Wendy's. Well, they sure are a thankless bunch! I personally know the Wendy's CEO, great person, worth millions, we vacation together in all sorts of exclusive locations. These people just don't understand how good they got it!
Funny thing is, she thinks she rose through the ranks on merit, so she deserves millions for talking (despite being frequently wrong).
