Both political parties gerrymander to maintain their seats in the legislatures. It's all about politicians holding on to their positions. Nothing about helping or harming voters.
In some states they do - but mostly in the newest states. Those that were around for a bit longer had different priorities when they became parts of the Union. Also those types of agencies largely didn’t exist in this country when districting conceptually was established.

The reason why is because the constitution delegates running elections to the states.

but to answer your question, the two parties (well _one_ of them much more than the other) are very ideologically committed to full control of all levels of government, society, and even culture. they actually create auxiliary bodies (ie. think tanks, super pacs, media organizations, etc) tasked with influencing the parts of government that are supposed to be apolitical. like how the GOP-linked Federalist Society has taken over courts and all levels of the judiciary with their own handpicked justices and clerks.
if there WAS an “apolitical” body in charge of election districting, it would only be a matter of time before that body, too, was fully infiltrated by ideologues and functionaries.

Fun fact, Bernie Sanders got more electoral votes in 2016 than Ross Perot ever got.
Similar to the delegates in primaries, the electoral college votes can technically vote for anyone and deflect. Someone did in 2016 and voted Sanders instead of Clinton out of protest. Two more electors attempted to vote for Sanders as well but they got their votes invalidated.
There were a total of seven deflectors in 2016 (not sure if that’s a record, but it’s more than usual), other votes also went to Kasich, Ron Paul, Powell and Spotted Eagle (native American activist).
Well I can't say where are RFK doing his heart is at we have to remember that the Kennedys were under the pressure of the times. It wasn't just John f Kennedy or Bobby Kennedy. This is a cell phone recording of a video monitor, meaning in the room where Kennedy is standing, Kennedy is standing in front of a camera with the little red light glaring at him. Kennedy KNOWS he's being recorded, and is purposefully letting Trump talk. He's not saying anything because he's trying to encourage Trump to talk. Maybe that's why Kennedy seems to be negotiating with Trump because he's trying to get him comfortable about opening up and saying things he might not otherwise say. Kennedy is a lawyer and has made a career out of interrogating people and getting information. We don't know his intentions, but based on this, I'm leaning more towards Kennedy was acting in a way to get Trump loose and comfortable and perhaps get something on camera that Trump would not otherwise say out loud.

Sam, this is how democracy works…multiple parties would constitute a true democracy, not two parties. So, blaming RFK Jr. for negatively affecting this election…no, that is called democracy, although there doesn’t seem to have many other aspects of a democracy there. This craziness of blaming one candidate for the loss of another needs to stop. The person to blame for any loss is that candidate themselves. If a candidate cannot win votes because they are incompetent, well, that is on them.

RFK jr. being awful has never surprised me, his stance on vaccines and conspiracy theory pseudoscience has been out front for decades at this point, since at least 2004, but Cornell West being used/allowing himself to be used in this way is deeply sad. I had a great deal of respect for the man but this just shatters it.

I don’t like Trump or Kennedy or Biden but I think this video tells us absolutely nothing. Sometimes, when you talk to idiots, you just listen and nod to try to be polite. I think this is what Kennedy is doing. This segment sounds like a reach to me. You often go after insane Conservatives conspiracies and you should, but don’t start your own and that’s what this looks like to me. You make a lot of inferences and assumptions then make a conclusion based on those inferences & assumptions not on any fact. You didn’t hear Kennedy say a word and inferring things on his silence.
