Actual music about actual life events - performed with actual emotion.
Not just for a hit.
Damn near a lost art in these WalMart days and times.
@QuixoticWeetzie I think all the songs he featured on this program were better renditions than the album versions. Slower, more soulful. He would have been a great live performer playing to small crowds if he had given himself half a chance, but he was one who didn't like to answer to anyone and didn't like to be "on" at 8 or 9 o'clock at night. Thanks for stopping by!
The man was a f###in genius! LOVE IT!
i recently saw the documentary on Harry Nilsson and i find it ironic how the song 1941 happened to him with his father and then years later he would eventually do the same to his first born son.
Better than the album version - Harry unplugged!
Bliss, bliss and double bliss.
I'd like to punch the two people who gave this a thumbs down!
This song makes me cry in the best way possible
@lechuck96 No kidding, I like this better than the album version. Fantastic.
amaazing!
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town? One of the best lines in all of songwriting.
music with content luved then luv it now rip
In the second refrain he slips (?) and moves to first person - "Well, I ...."
"When he looked around he saw a clown, and the clown seemed very gay
And he said, I'd like to join that circus clown and run away"
@Pooyum Check out the "For the Love of Harry" blog. There is a new "fan" created disc called "Son Of Harryties 03: Schmilsson Schessions" which has this track. I believe the disc is still available for download on the site.
Love him so much!
@exxon23 Thanks for the help. Now that I know what chords he's playing I'm punching myself for not having been able to figure 'em out myself.
@bobodash Thank you so much!!!
Does anyone know if this version of the song is available to purchase? It is now hands down my favorite song of his... the album version doesn't even come close
I remember him like it was yesterday. He's the closest we ever came to producing our very own paul mccartney. just a bit too self destructive. actually self-destruction was quite easy in the seventies. I'm not sure why any of us are still alive.
Love!!!!!!!!
@Rascar happy to help :)
Does anyone know where I can find a guitar tab for this version? I suck and can't figure out exactly what he's playing.
hairs on my neck standing up!!
@LeoJLeBrut Maybe. Don't forget that this song is about himself.
@RickyPercussion its funny, if you look at celebrities throughout the last 50-60 years how many similar cases there are.
@claudenorth2007
No question mark, please ...
@Rascar E7 A7 D7 B7 x3 then C7 to B7
Absolute love for this man!!!
So underrated and amazing, the American Beatle deserves more credit
in 68 when they asked lennon and mccartney who was their favorite band they simultaneously said, "Harry Nilsson." you can see why. genius.
