When you see the number and length of the platforms at Llandudno it brings home just how well used and popular the place was before motor vehicles took over. I imagine there would have been many "specials" on bank holidays and in the summer bringing thousands of visitors from the industrial cities. It is sad that the railways can no longer compete.

      That's Cyffordd Llandudno/Llandudno Junction. It's about 5 miles from Llandudno. It's a separate place.

This line features the longest single track tunnel in the UK at over 2.2 miles and yet the video cuts it out. I remember as a kid riding this train and the biggest fun was watching the pinprick of light at the far end getting bigger until you popped out into daylight. What a shame!

Wonderful video; can't beat a bit of 'slow tv'. I noticed that all those people who noticed that there was no sound didn't notice that there was no charge for watching ! Thank you for taking the trouble to make these videos, brilliant !

22:56 Unfortunately, no stopping at Betws-y-Coed. North Wales simply is the most beautiful place in the world. The people are equally wonderful (I am from London). Great video, thanks for the upload.

Shame there's no audio. - I've been up and down that line quite a lot recently, and it looks totally different when you can see where you are going! Nice to see that NR have begun to cut the scrub trees that block the view. I hope they go all the way down, thinning or removing them, so as a passenger it is not like going along a green tunnel, with occasional glimpses outside! Shame there's still no audio! That stops me from subscribing.

People love to complain, don't they? I agree, what a lovely train journey - I whole-heartedly recommend even if not riding in the cab of a Class 66! Is notbody going to mention the flawless, sunny day in Wales? It's not that common, especially in Blaenau!

Video image without sound us the equivalent of viewing van Gogh's Sunflowers in black and white. Humans are sensory beings, and sound adds colour to the visual image. As for 'people love to complain' @RoadCone411, well how dare they have an opinion that isn't shared by you 🙄.

Lovely scenery, but like so many others missed the sound which adds so much atmosphere to a train ride. Being unfamiliar with this location I would have appreciated seeing the names of stations and other notable locations identified.

Even though this footage was filmed 1080p, the quality of the rendering is poor. The camera seemed to have trouble focusing on the trees. I couldn't see the point of no sound either. Having said that, the line is wonderful.

been on this route many times..in a DMU..Then as you went in that long tunnel is was great waiting for the spec of light to appear...But you cut the whole tunnel out...The trip through the longest single line tunnel in the Uk is an important part of the trip, so why cut it out....if you have a FULL unedited version then that would be great.

Some of you might not realise but the tunnel at 3:25 is actually the longest single track rail tunnel in the UK at over 2 miles (3.4 km) long. Obviously edited out as a few minutes of darkness (and silence) would be pretty boring! Great video though.

  • @jeffhenshaw5596
    @jeffhenshaw5596 5 років тому +1

Shame that there was no sound when I played the video. Totally unrealistic as there is sound almost everywhere and unless we are unfortunately enough to have hearing difficulties we expect sound at all times during our waking day.
When I played this video for the first time, I turned it off after about 15 minutes as the silence almost drove me 'mad'. The quality of the footage however, persuaded me to view it again a few days later, but this time I played some of my personal background music while I watched the video. It made a heck of a difference playing that music. I then really enjoyed my video journey and thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent scenery.
Oh I wish that the video had been recorded with the sound of the moving train in the background. It would have made it a video classic. Good footage though.
    Jeff.

Agreed on soundless video vs none at all. You aren’t forced to watch, and as much as I like sound it’s unreasonable to expect the creator to have it if there’s a valid reason on their end not to (e.g. conversations that can in some way used against them)

Lovely route featured, but without sound the video's just a load of rubbish and completely unrealistic! I suppose you COULD play music while watching it but that's hardly the point of a cabride is it. However, if you cut the sound because of cab-conversation and/or privacy perhaps I could suggest that in future you put sound-equipment in the rear cab. This way you can record whatever noise the loco is making AND still have the view from the front, without having to worry about background noises! But as things stand at the moment your videos are completely pointless and in future I will definitely make a point of avoiding them.
