  • Sarah shows what happens when babies hips get checked and treated for hip dysplasia. All babies have a hip check directly after birth. Babies who are born breech and babies with a family history of hip problems are referred for a secondary hip check. If a problem is found this can be treated with a hip harness. The harness needs to be kept on at all times and used as explained by the clinician. The harness helps the hip to remodel and develop as normal. After wearing the harness for 8-12 weeks the baby should have no further problems. Abbey, mum and Sarah show the checks and hip harness in this video by the What? Why? Children in Hospital charity.
