Nah, what's worse is that he isn't isn't confused - he completely blanks that there's grass there and assumes that he'd placed the grass blocks that were lower down, so he needs to do the same command but one block higher. Funnily enough, Nilesy was even closer to completing the original prompt than they thought! Displacer beasts and blink dogs have an extreme instinctual hatred for one another, to the point that they'll always attack on sight. So a blink dog would be common prey for a displacer beast, who is letting it get away just a little bit in order to savor the hunt and its prolonged suffering. Alternatively, Nilesy went about as far from the original prompt as he possibly could by building the antithesis of a displacer beast. And for a final nerd fact, gelatinous cubes are actually extraordinarily transparent, to the point of practically being invisible when motionless. Artworks just tend to make them green or blue blobs so that you can tell what's actually going on. So glass is a actually perfect material to build one out of, with tinted glass making it easier to tell what's going on while also matching common artwork.
The monster manual is filled with things that pretend to be other things. A mimic pretends to be a chest, a roper pretends to be a stalagmite. A gelatinase cube pretends to be an empty map tile.

That's why they're dangerous. They're so transparent that they're hard to actually see in dungeons. You could be walking down a hallway and suddenly you literally just bump in to one because it's so hard to tell its there.
@@apennington8165 that's a pretty common explanation but never made sense to me, they're *so acidic* that they melt *almost everything* that enters them, minus some metals but even that slowly over time. Something they neglected to mention about Cranium Rats is that the more rats you have working together, they’re able to cast more and more powerful spells lol.

Note for you guys: gelatinous cubes in d&d are clear, so clear that they count as invisible if they fill the entire hallway (So very very many deaths…)
My favorites here are Duncan's Tom in the gelatinous cube and the Beholder beholding the bee by Kirsty. Surprisingly little nightmare fuel in this episode.
I've been told DnD is really fun with the right group, but I've never had the right group. Also, I tend to make characters that aren't combat oriented and I couldn't really make that work.
