Patty Duke will always be close to my heart. The movie, "Billie" helped me in sports with the beat. As a deaf person I wanted to find a way to think positive and maximize my performance in sports. It stayed with me even into my 40's when I ran corporate 5K, 10K, etc. It made a difference and I surpassed many of my classmates and colleagues. Our prayers go out to you and your family, but we know you are in a better place. Peace to you!
How well I remember seeing this movie in the theatre when I was ten years old.Later on in an episode of her own series,Patty Duke sang the well-remembered,"Funny Little Butterflies."
9 years old...crouching under a coffee table in my mothers living room while she was on the phone in the next room. I fell in...lust..with Patty Duke...at that age. Never knew the name of this movie...until now. Thank you...for bringing back memories of my childhood.
So fun to see this Patti Duke clip! I remember loving this movie when I was ten; and, as Billie, could run faster than the boys in my school. The beat....
Parents took me (age 7) and my sister to drive-in when it was first released and also bought us the LP. We were fans of the show, much cuter on the show, too butch in Billie. More depth in her voice than similar star Annette. Kind of thought this was long forgotten. Seeing it in a drive-in was fun, 1965.
I just absolutely lovvvvedddd this movie as a kid...it inspired me all the way to the fridge...really...I did love it..I remember going outside and trying to let "some beat " inspire me...plus...just loved some of those songs...I was so hurt by some GUY...that funny butterflies really hit home when he BROKE UP w/ me...ahhh...memory...lane......
Wow, the trailer alone has Charles Lane (RIP this month at 102 years of age), VO by Mason Adams (of Smucker's fame); Donna McKechnie, Jim Backus, choreography by David Winters (I think), shmaltz, a big dog, Patty Duke looking like a lesbian gym teacher, Jane Greer (!), the word 'sex', and gay guys dancing in the locker room. Wow. Clearly this is the greatest motion picture ever made. Thanks for posting.
I remember watching this one on the WUHF Sunday Afternoon movie in the early '80's and back then Patty was lookin' pretty good in those shorts to this adolescent lad.
@4MaryAnna Studio vocalist Gail Heidman did the singing voice for Patty in VALLEY OF THE DOLLS. In the same movie, singer Margaret Whiting provided a singing voice to Susan Hayward for her one song.
I finally sat this movie today ^_^ it was great. They should have made it a law that patty duke only be allowed to wear shorts lol my jaw hit the floor
Huh? Where on EARTH did you get this incorrect info? Margaret Whiting dubbed Susan Hayward on the "I'll Plant My Own Tree" song/number. Patty Duke was dubbed by Gail Heideman.
I'm afraid you didn't get the point.. It was about him wanting her to have been a boy because he already had a girl he wanted a boy.. She only wished to be a boy to please her father.. Billie was all girl...
Billie can not identify her self as a boy. Physically, sexually she is a girl...even in her heart and mind and soul. A chicken cannot identify itself as a duck and vice versa. In other words... Billie is straight. Not gay.
@@jimenezap09 Oh plzzzz Transexual does not mean Gay It means that a person mentally feels that they are in the wrong body and that they totally identify as the opposite whether it's against biology or not It's what they think and feel Does not affect u in any way at all.
I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this movie til now! I love Patty!!!
I saw this at the Fox theater in Pomona

Lust! Naughty! hehehe!:D
Her best movie.
wow, it amazes me that there are films like this that we never get to see on British TV, but are worth a look.
This movie is on video (www.amazon.co.uk/BILLIE-Don-Weis/dp/B01AAJ78G4/ref=tmm_aiv_title_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1564429226&sr=1-1)

+jaxbax: That's a darling story. Nine is such a cute age. I often think the world would be a better place if we kept that young sweetness.
I guess I was also that age when I fell in love with Billie/Patty when I saw the movie on tv back in the 80s. How I wished I'm her boyfriend.

This movie is on TCM on Sept 12.

This is where Ellen must have got her look and style.
She looks amazingly like Chloë Moretz. Or maybe Chloë looks like her!

Everybody's favorite butch gal musical-what's not to like?
How dare Jim Backus not allow Billie to self-identify as a boy!
I'm afraid you didn't get the point.. It was about him wanting her to have been a boy because he already had a girl he wanted a boy.. She only wished to be a boy to please her father.. Billie was all girl...
No, YOU didn't get the point.

All she needed was the dot earrings and she would've been a full-fledged woman gym-teacher!
@rodanvideo Actually, singer Gail Heideman dubbed in vocals for Patty Duke in "Valley of the Dolls"--not Margaret Whiting.
Yes, he was.
or bi-sexual innuendos.
Transexual She wished she could be a boy
you mean true love of white guy with equality aside.
😨😰🤢🤑🤮
