Easy pet to keep to maintain light on the wallet pretty much the second best pet i dont recommend people getting bettas as there first aquarium pet i recommend shrimp because they most likely get a smaller tank.
I'm watching this a bit late but I would also love to see a live stream from time to time just to talk shrimp and ask questions :) Love your videos! please dont stop making them
Your shrimps are very colorful and I love that mixed variations of different shrimps I just started with red cherry shrimps and I have 10 babies alone in a 5 gallon tank hopefuly they will survive since my tank was set up only for 2 weeks, I realy loved watching your video it was very nice thank you so much for sharing.
It’s so true to love this small fellows I have mixed some red, black, blue and yellow shrimps 1 month back and waiting to see something new, wish some day I’ll become like you sir in breeding them
I have the exact same belief as you. I have a 55 gallons tank with all varieties of Cardinia shrimps mixed all together. Having fun is what it’s all about 😊
I started a skittle tank about 9 months ago. All different colors of shrimp. well they breed all together and most of the original skittle shrimps are gone . most of the babies turned back into the wild shrimp color. i dont mind it at all. they are my color now lol. Still love watching them.
I love shrimp keeping! I really love just watching them minding their own life. And the best is it is free! Sell some pairs and it off sets your cost :)
Awesome awesome awesome!! Sooo true Nate ! The hobby is about having fun and enjoying the life we see in our tanks! Loved seeing your puppers to lol ! Show more of them and YES to a live stream!
Great video! So I have raised all sorts of Neocaridina for about 6 years and was thinking about getting into Caridina shrimp. My ultimate goal (since I started shrimp'in) was to get a tank of blue bolts / shadow pandas. I really dig these mixed tanks and want to diversify my shrimp portfolio. With my goals in mind what do you suggest would be a good starting point / next step for me? Should I get Crystal Black shrimp and have them for awhile and then mix in others later? Or get a second caridina tank after? I see all sorts of videos and posts on forums about this and it is a bit overwhelming sometimes. I am confident that I could be successful with this as I have had great success with neos and use an RO unit with them/keep them in planted tanks. I am super excited to see your channel grow and was your 248th subscriber if my memory serves me right. Marks shrimp tank gave you a shout out and now I never miss a video (you are the only youtuber that I have the notification bell turned on for!). I love this hobby and shrimp really brings me lots of joy and internal peace. I have used it as a coping mechanism for my PTSD from my military service. I want to thank you and all the other shrimp youtubers that help people like me on our aquarium hobby adventure. Best of luck to you Nathan
That is such an awesome comment. Caridina is all about doing it right from the start. An active substrate...tds meter...ro water with shrimp salts to a tds of 120 to 135...sponge filters....lots of plants and a decent light. I dont even test any parameters in my tanks only the tds.
wow!!! i totally agree with you with mixing shrimp it’s just so nice to see them all together and they can cross breed too and omg black taiwan bee mixed with blue bolt??!!! wow 😍 great job!!
Thank you for taking the time to share I personally agree with your concept on your breeding program it not only increases the gene-pool viability of the shrimp that's your F2 level you will see major changes multiple new strains in color variation in Bodymorph
Not sure how/why I haven't come across your videos yet since I am a regular to all "FishTube" series alike. Love your editing style! Will definitely be binge watching your videos over the next week. Keep up the good work!
Your outlook my dude! Sooooo good ik this is an older video but youcan see all your potential and progress. You also remi ded me why I got I to this hobby to do exactly what you want to. Create my own shrimp breed🥲
great vid! Question: have you ever kept ghost shrimp with neos or caridina, and what was you experience, did the ghost shrimp eat the eggs of other species? thanks.
Your shrimp are beautiful. Can I ask what you started with to get such cool combinations? I can’t quite hear what types they are…taiwan bees? 🙈 Thank you!
Here's my novice inquiry. From what I understand, there's three main categories the freshwater shrimp fall into; caridinad, neocaridinas & sulawesi (sp). Considering these categories seem to have specific parameters for the survival, health & overall livelihood of the species, can you mix between these categories and if so, what parameters would the offspring fall under? And on a side note, what category do those crawfish/crawdads/crayfish fall under. And those oversized monsters they call prawns too? Do they fit into any of those three categories I mentioned earlier?
@@SooShrimpBreeders So.... after digging in here & there, I've come to find out that Sulawesi shrimp are basically Caridina shrimp from a region in Indonesia called Sulawesi & have adapted to survive in the iron rich, high PH water in that area. This could explain why they tolerate such a higher TDS than the others (even higher tolerance than some crayfish). This helps me eliminate one of my questions as I would assume rodi and rain water(s) would require a HUGE amount of additives (salts) to bring the PH & KH levels. Still haven't found out if the caridina & neocaridina can breed between one another or what category those huge crayfish fall under.
@@deadfred821 Neos can live well in Sulawesi parameters, a lot of people age tanks by keeping neos in first before introducing Sulawesis, and also to act as dithers to encourage Sulawesis to come out more if there aren't many of them in there
@@danwilson5160 Thank you for the information. I've come to find this information as well, as Sulawesi are kind of the black sheep of the caradina family. I also found out that the neos & caridinas do not crossbreed naturally as these names are their genus & breeding between genus does not occur in nature or the aquarium (& lab experiments did not yield favorable results from the rare successes). The neos seem to be the most well rounded & most tolerant to the widest range of parameters; requiring more acclimation the further you get from their "ideal" parameters. So some keepers keep their cull tanks set to caradina parameters for the sake of that genus (& they're less tolerable to the neos parameters). It's also worth noting that these two genus are Asian in origin & there popularity is mostly due to their ornamental appearances achieved through selective breeding. There are plenty of African & American species (like Palamontes & Atya) that are occasionally found in the local fish stores, but rarely in the big name chains. These are the ghost, grass, glass & vampire shrimps, as well as a plethora of others. Moving up from genus to "order," the name is caradea (basically caradina without the n). This includes saltwater shrimps, crayfish & prawns. If you noticed, I basically answered all my questions from that original post;. Anyone interested in further research should probably check my spelling though.
Mixing shrimp is the best. Who wants just one shrimp color in their tank when you can have them all. Plus it creates the most beautiful and unqiue offspring. :)
Just like normal but if you use an active, peat based substrate it will initially release ammonia so you need to leave it running empty a couple months to let the bacteria do its thing. Don't be out off I hope you cycle a tank and get some.
Are there any neocardinas I can add to my 5.5 gal? I was going to add cherries but would like different colors or types if that was possible? Could they coexist or should I just stick to cherries?
What happens when you breed different colours neocardina together? I heard they end up muddy colours. I'd love to see a video about the results of your breeding experiments.
Looking to setup a shrimp tank for the first time. My tank is a a 45gal tank that I just setup with a dirt substrate. Should I change out my substrate to your type of soil tank? Is there any direction you could send me for help in this hobby?
