My wife and I were about two have twins in May 2018, unfortunately they came 10 weeks early and my wife had to lay in a hospital bed already weeks before. So I remember driving by bus to the hospital every day, listening to "Catharsis" and how, literally, this song saved me during that time and helped me so much to stay strong for my family.
Our babydaughter died in our arms from a sepsis after two days, but our son is alive and a 4yr old sunshine now and we are still in grief but also still in love.
Thank you, Machine Head.

This album got some pretty mixed reviews and I believe sold around the average of MH albums (which as we all know Metal albums in particular haven't sold well since the likes of streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and of course the almighty UA-cam have dwindled album sales and even back when illegal downloading platforms back in the early to mid 2000's really did a number on artists being able to sell a substantial amount of records). In my opinion there's some really solid songs on this album such as the title track, Psychotic, California Bleeding (the bass lines in particular are some of my favorites of MH!), Heavy Lies the Crown, etc. But then there's some doozers such as Triple Beam, Bastards, Kaleidoscope (though it is a pretty rad song when played live!), etc.
Overall it's a cool album but fat from my favorite of theirs and actually is one of their worst in my humble opinion. Machine Head are one of my favorite bands and always will be and they mean the world to me! They put on some of the best live shows of any band and treat their fans like gold. MH hold a special place in my heart and always will! When they last played Baltimore City, Maryland back on December 4th, 2022 we RAWKED that venue! I know they'll be excited to come back to B More! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥🧨😎🏟️🎸🎸🎸

I vividly remember the day this album was released. I was going through an extremely challenging time in my life at that point. I was homeless and mightily struggling with drugs and alcohol. I was outside freezing my ass off in the Winter weather and hearing this album really helped me feel better and get through those scary and dark times. Thank you Machine Head for always helping me in my toughest times!

With pain in my heart, being a machine head fan since 1995, and watching their live performances on several occasions. I have to say that I find this album easily forgettable.
Wait, what!? Easily forgettable!? Catharsis and Bastards are Epic bro!!! Don't get me wrong, I took love The Burning Red album but you can't deny the songs I mentioned are 2 of Rob's best

@@willkateley9938 I agree that this album isn’t as bad as people make out, there’s some gems. I personally like Triple Beam, that song is so good live. That being said I like The Burning Red also, bar the production I enjoy it.

I never understood why some people hate this album with passion. Sure, there are some forgettable songs on this album, and in my personal opinion "Bastards" is the worst song in their whole catalogue, but there are some really good ones here too. Volatile, Catharsis and Heavy Lies the Crown are some of the best songs they've ever done.
Even Phil Demmel hated this album.

I agree with everything you said. I really don't like "Bastards" and agree it's probably their worst song (along with "Brown Acid" LOL!), but there are some awesome songs on this album such as the title track, Psychotic, California Bleeding (I love the bass lines especially! Just not a big fan of the lyrics), "Volatile", "Heavy Lies the Crown" and a few others are pretty good songs. Not a big fan of "Triple Beam", "Razorblade Smile", "Hope Begets Hope" (it's not a BAD song but just never could get into it much), etc. But hey most bands put out at least one not so great album. Other than "Catharsis" their other albums are fantastic (I even really enjoy a lot of "Supercharger" though it's probably their second worst album next to "Catharsis" lol).

Absolutely terrible. I understand progression, but compared with things like Burn My Eyes or The More Things Change, this shit is total regression and just awful.
