Good video man. I have a question, how would you increase the speed of this technique? I don’t want to play fast I just want to improve my overall technique so I’m comfortable at different tempos?
Greetings Danny! Good question and thanks for watching. The key to increase the speed/tempo using this technique all comes down to "Stick Height" or how high or low the sticks are from the playing surface. These kinds of strokes aren't always going to reach the same height, so the faster you get, the lower the height the sticks will go. It will be the opposite for when you play slower as it is demonstrated most of the time in this lesson video. Also, keep in mind that a loose grip is very important not only for this kind of stroke, but for all strokes! Don't allow your hands to tense up. If you have any questions, please let me know. **I also teach private online drum lessons via Zoom, Discord, Google Meet, or Skype if you are interested :) **
