    So it's like Japanese, which also has counters that must be used with numerals of Chinese origin but allows the use of Japanese numbers without a counter if it's more expedient. Plus it works the same way about using counters for "things" and for "people". And I'd just like to add that you seem to work very well together. Just the right "mix" of comments in both English and Korean, Keep up the good work.

    OK. I only started studying Korean about 6 months ago, but I think I understood you test sentence at the end, so my answer is: 한국 친구가 없다. (I live in a small town right now, so that's why).

    can you say “한국은 친구 공 명 있어요” meaning “I have zero korean friends” or should you just say “한국은 친구가 없어요” ?

    I hope u notice my question. Until what number is it normally ok to use native Korean counters? For example for apples we count 열게(for 10 apples) but for higher numbers I haven’t heard anyone say 쉰게(50 apples) or 여든게 etc.
