That's an amazing deep dive. I feel like I've spent almost half my sound time into the PSG and OPL3, and I'm thankful for the groundwork you just did for the SID. I've known most of the terms about wave shaping you mention, but it's invaluable to be able to play and tweek them in real time. Perfect teaching tool for any synth curious people and C64 folks alike.

Thank you for the comment. Note that I did not spend adequate time on the filter and the effect on tone per filter type; I merely tied the filter to the LFO in this video. The next video dives into the filter and uses the "single-shot" with top and bottom LFO limiting to demonstrate the point. Another feature I'm working on is chaining voices (aka, using a deci-second delay on actuation of cascading from v1 to v2, etc. for more complex 'patches'. If you are new to SID, you might consider a re-watch of the first video (the 1 of 12) linked in the description; I walk through the spec sheet which is typically a very dry topic if you've not had the experience. With regard to usability and keyboard use: If you have a F256K, you'll benefit from using a mouse (I've not even tried my code yet on the 'K', but will). It's not lost on me that the art of grouping functions per key and layer is an ongoing challenge. Nothing worse than a complex piece of software with control keys that are not intuitive.

@@8-bitwallofdoom release a printable shortkeys pdf that you cut the center out and place on top of a f256k, it'll be part of the retro experience!
