- When pouring pole bases with concrete, the bolts must be placed properly to insure that they fit the pattern of base of the light pole. When they are placed wrong there is usually a few options. The first is to use force to move the bolt where you need it. If this just won't work, you either start from scratch with a completely new pole base, or do like we did in this video.
When we placed the light pole on this pole base, the bolts we just too close to the pole to allow the nuts to spin on. They were just too close to the pole, and they were too big to bend them where we needed them...
So the engineers allowed us to use the extremely strong Hilti HIT-RE 500-SD Epoxy Adhesive to secure new anchor bolts inside the existing concrete pole base. According to the instructions and specifications Hilti provided, this epoxy is actually stronger than the concrete!
So we had our solution to the misplaced bolts... Now for the actual installation of the new bolts.
This worked great and the Hilti epoxy sets hard as a rock (maybe harder). The 30' concrete poles are up and shining bright.
