If it helps, in order of appearance, its Jisoo is playing the instrument, song kicks off with Jennie (who was wearing a Manchester United x Chanel outfit in the rap part lol then Lisa with the apple, and Rosé with the heart. Jennie and Rosé speak English the best, and Lisa (who is Thai) also speaks it incredibly well, while Jisoo has a harder time. K-pop is super cool because you’re right, it does push the boundaries of what we think pop music can be. As mentioned, Blackpink and Babymonster are from YG Entertainment, a company that really emphasizes rap/swag moreso than the other companies (many of the BM girls talked about how they wanted to be “cool” artists of YG during pre-debut). The BP girls do have some “softer” pop songs and ballads (As If Its Your Last is a good example of a slightly more conventional pop song) and BM is mostly likely going to be incredibly versatile just based off Batter Up, Dream (which you have to watch!!!) and the abilities shown on the Last Evaluation series (check out Haram and Ahyeon’s individual cover performances, Pick Up Your Feelings and Dangerously if nothing else, although I love the other ones so much), and a new song is coming out this week which seems to have a Disney princess-ish concept, so we’ll see. For BP, they had the concept of girl crush/badass from the start (Boombayah and Whistle were their debut), but they like really got going by DDU DU DDU DU in which they just started talking their shit, and everyone went wild (Check out the MV and how many views it has). They followed up with other songs, notably Kill This Love, followed by How You Like That (again, WILD music videos), and Lovesick Girls which is just a super fun bop (but also slightly sad? Upbeat/Happy vibes tho!) Their first album they collaborated with Selena Gomez and Cardi B, and they’ve also collaborated with Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa. Pink Venom was followed by Shut Down, which goes crazyyyy hard, and references their old music while they, deservedly, talk their shit, and their second full album, Born Pink. BP really is the biggest girl group in the world, breaking records all the time, winning awards that havent been won by girl groups since Spice Girls, TLC, and Destiny’s Child (as mentioned) and being extensive influencers worldwide. Full on metalhead here who's all-time favroite band is Lovebites. I've been listening to metal for over 50 years, so it's rare a non-metal group breaks through to me. Blackpink has. Now supposedly YG is going bankrupt after losing black, pink the second biggest group in the world after DTS. A few quick notes BTS gave speeches at the United Nations three times 20/18/2020 2021! Performed at the United nations in 2021. Appointed as special presidential envoys of the Republic of Korea and issue diplomatic passports in 2021. In around 20/17/2018 BTS became the first group to have three number one albums in less than one year since The Beatles! The only group ever in the history ohh billboard in the United States to have three songs in three different languages on billboard at the same time. Hahaha Hugh Grant thought he would never like them either, then his daughter took him to see them headline Hyde Park and now he’s a self-professed BLINK (name for blackpink fans). They were also recently bestowed with OBEs by King Charles; during the dinner the night before he mentioned them by name in his speech and they were all hilariously caught off guard, especially because they were separated around the room.
If it helps, in order of appearance, its Jisoo is playing the instrument, song kicks off with Jennie (who was wearing a Manchester United x Chanel outfit in the rap part lol then Lisa with the apple, and Rosé with the heart. Jennie and Rosé speak English the best, and Lisa (who is Thai) also speaks it incredibly well, while Jisoo has a harder time.
K-pop is super cool because you’re right, it does push the boundaries of what we think pop music can be. As mentioned, Blackpink and Babymonster are from YG Entertainment, a company that really emphasizes rap/swag moreso than the other companies (many of the BM girls talked about how they wanted to be “cool” artists of YG during pre-debut). The BP girls do have some “softer” pop songs and ballads (As If Its Your Last is a good example of a slightly more conventional pop song) and BM is mostly likely going to be incredibly versatile just based off Batter Up, Dream (which you have to watch!!!) and the abilities shown on the Last Evaluation series (check out Haram and Ahyeon’s individual cover performances, Pick Up Your Feelings and Dangerously if nothing else, although I love the other ones so much), and a new song is coming out this week which seems to have a Disney princess-ish concept, so we’ll see.
For BP, they had the concept of girl crush/badass from the start (Boombayah and Whistle were their debut), but they like really got going by DDU DU DDU DU in which they just started talking their shit, and everyone went wild (Check out the MV and how many views it has). They followed up with other songs, notably Kill This Love, followed by How You Like That (again, WILD music videos), and Lovesick Girls which is just a super fun bop (but also slightly sad? Upbeat/Happy vibes tho!) Their first album they collaborated with Selena Gomez and Cardi B, and they’ve also collaborated with Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa. Pink Venom was followed by Shut Down, which goes crazyyyy hard, and references their old music while they, deservedly, talk their shit, and their second full album, Born Pink.
BP really is the biggest girl group in the world, breaking records all the time, winning awards that havent been won by girl groups since Spice Girls, TLC, and Destiny’s Child (as mentioned) and being extensive influencers worldwide. Each girl is one of the biggest and most revenue-gaining ambassadors for their respective luxury brands, Chanel, Celine, Dior, YSL, Tiffany’s, Bulgari, Cartier, etc etc, they are some of the most followed accounts on Instagram, UA-cam, list goes on. They have movies, a game, Starbucks collection, etc., you get the point.

If you want to go in order to see how they (and their sound) has evolved: Boombayah and Whistle (debut - Boombayah is definitely the hard hitter in terms of club-type music but Whistle is kind of addictive), Stay (a softer ballad), Playing With Fire (definitely a late 2010s song), As If Its Your Last (very pop, very fun), DDU DU DDU DU (a BP must watch - hard hitter), Kill This Love (amazing song GREAT music video, also a BP must watch), How You Like That (internationally viral, BP must watch, INSANE video), Ice Cream w/Selena Gomez (fun summer bop), Lovesick Girls (80s vibe, upbeat and fun, lowkey sad lyrics, also a classic), and finally Shutdown (goes CRAZY hard as a song alone and then add the MV and its amazing) which is them referencing old music videos, (deservedly) talking their shit and essentially “shutting down” their past eras and being like “we’re at the top, just watch where we go from here.”
Part of BP’s success is their amazing stage presence, so highly recommend watching any of their live performances, particularly Pink Venom and Typa Girl from when they headlined Coachella, DDU DU DDU DU from Coachella 2019, the D4 remix at Tokyo Dome, and Boombayah from the iconic debut showcase in Japan. BLACKPINK, like many K-Pop groups, also releases Japanese versions of songs, which changes up the lyrics and flow somewhat, and most of the raps then become mostly English.

Full on metalhead here who's all-time favroite band is Lovebites. I've been listening to metal for over 50 years, so it's rare a non-metal group breaks through to me. Blackpink has. They bring it with attitude, sick drops, great beats, film quality music videos. It doesn't hurt that they are easy on the eyes. "Shut Down" is my favorite song by Blackpink, but I like a lot of their music.

Let's get some facts straight the biggest group in the world BTS sign a contract we're big hit entertainment in 2011 they then debuted as a group on June 13th, 2013. K pop contracts run for seven years so in 2018 BTS renewed their contract with big hit entertainment to expire in 2025. In 2022 at their anniversary dinner for festa 2022 9-year anniversary. they announced they were going on a group hiatus to do solo career projects not breaking up or disbanding doing solo projects. Through the rest of 2022 BTS member Jin released a solo project collaboration with Coldplay before he had to enlist in the Korean military mandatory service. In 2023 in June of 2023 BTS celebrated their ten-year anniversary. With members still doing solo projects Jen J hope serving in the military Suga AKA August D on a solo concert tour four his first solo album D-Day! BTS member J hope had to enlist in the military for mandatory service! In December 2023 the remaining members of BTS V Jimin RM Jungkook enlisted in the military for mandatory service. These four members plus sugar AKA Augustine had all released solo albums did tours live performances and wrap that all up in December to enlist. At the time of the last four members of BTS enlisting in the military in December 2023 HYBE corporation formerly known as big hit entertainment announced that all 7 members had renegotiated and signed their third contract with the company which would begin in June 2025 when they reunite as a group work on a special anniversary album project and a world tour! Black, Pink debuted in 2016 seven-year contract ran out in 2023 they have disbanded and left YG! Differences between the two groups BTS are full of musician's songwriters' composers' producers' actor's martial artist they write compose and produce their own music along with writers and in house producers in the company. They also do collaborations with western artists from the United States United Kingdom countries in Europe who write and sometimes produce material for them example their collaboration in writing the song my universe where Chris Martin of Coldplay and performing the song with Coldplay.
Incomplete contrast YG controlled all aspects of what black pink or doing! They wrote their material choreographed their dances sexualized them made them wear skimpy outfits and told them what they were going to sing dance and everything else. HYBE labels olds 8 entertainment music label companies 6 in Korea one in Japan and one in the United States which in turn owns another label. Soul artist like Justin Bieber Ariana Grande red Hot Chili Peppers lady the country group formerly known as Lady Antebellum and many others in the United States are signed with the same company HYBE labels a division of HYBE corporation formerly known as big hit entertainment. Final note after black, pink left YG they lost over 60% of their profits even though they used to be one of the big three entertainment companies back in 2013 when big hit entertainment was struggling to stay afloat and going bankrupt. Now supposedly YG is going bankrupt after losing black, pink the second biggest group in the world after DTS.
A few quick notes BTS gave speeches at the United Nations three times 20/18/2020 2021! Performed at the United nations in 2021. Appointed as special presidential envoys of the Republic of Korea and issue diplomatic passports in 2021. In around 20/17/2018 BTS became the first group to have three number one albums in less than one year since The Beatles! The only group ever in the history ohh billboard in the United States to have three songs in three different languages on billboard at the same time. The only K pop group and Asian musical group to win artist of the year at the American Music Awards!
