I am not shocked by her reply, she is probably delusional and has high standards for happiness/life. I'm rather surprised by your incorrect statement that less than 10% constitutes a majority. Actually, 90% of women between 25 and 60 are married. Just because people around you don’t want to do it doesn't mean that the national average reflects the same.
@iamwithdhanyavarma : the interview was terrible, and the captions were even worse. It's a perfect example of a bad interview that my students can refer to. Instead of empathizing with her viewpoint, why didn't you challenge her by asking if it's all in her head?

@libsonteresa5695 and who are you?? Can you explain?? Why is ayalkoottam bothering you so much.. Have you been there in an ayalkoottam meeting to know what is happening?? And about Dhanya.. Interview is about knowing the other person and making an atmosphere which is comfortable for him or her to open up themselves... Thank you so much for the interview.
Im a 25 yr old girl, just started to drown into this pit of pleasing my parents.
Im jobless with two MA's . Im in a stage were I'm wondering what am I going to do.
And all my parents care about is for me to get married, and I stopped interacting anything with them to avoid a conflict.
And now they are dissatisfied about me being silent.
There is nothing good happening, Im working hard to do something and find my way.

    Dear Dhanya,
Aishwarya Lekshmi raised such an important point in the episode! Could you consider dedicating another discussion or even a full episode to the family pressure around marriage and the conflicts it creates?
I can completely relate-being over 30 and unmarried has made my marriage my parents’ biggest concern. The constant friction is exhausting, and despite my efforts to communicate my perspective, bridging the gap feels impossible.
I feel religion also plays a role in this. As family members grow more conservative and influenced by traditional ideologies, our generation is moving in a different direction-questioning and unlearning. This divergence creates a huge communication gap, and no matter how many meaningful discussions we watch online, these ideas rarely seem to reach or influence them.
Dhanya, is there any way we can help our parents become more understanding and bridge this gap?

@@Aswathy-lr6bg That’s just a statement to justify generational trauma. Whatever the situation-childhood, adulthood, or being in a relationship-we all need to unlearn or change attitudes that might add stress to others. This isn’t about saying no one should get married. If someone wants to get married, let them do so. If not, at least be empathetic and avoid pressuring them. Let people willingly make their choices, whether it’s to embrace marriage or live differently.
Moreover, discussions like these aim to address the flaws in the concept of marriage. In the Indian context, the concept of marriage, husband, or wife often carries inhumane elements, even though they’re treated as sacred or pure in our culture. Let’s unlearn and grow.

Until today, I used to always believe that she was a person who never had to struggle in life!
Infact this assumption was made because of a vague memory of her interview in the past, where she herself admitted that she never had to struggle for any movies, everything was handed over to her, and she feels blessed!

(its a long post...sorry for that in advance) I am going to talk on behalf of Aishwarya Lekshmi (simply in her defence) and say that she isnt saying that her parents are bad as parents in anyway... She is just saying that she wishes she wasn't conditioned In a certain way. Its her outlook. Parents of late 80s and 90s kids "parented" them in the only way they know - parenting from 'their' parents. There is no manual for parenting even now. Maybe some books and advises for certain situations but its never all encompassing! But there is a lot of unprocessed trauma for these kids because of conditioning. Im sure even the parents have and of course even the kids born later. She is just saying about the ways she struggled. But one thing needs to be said out loud - the ones who actively started seeking therapy were/are millennials and we were often ridiculed and then later applauded for the same. So there is a reason for that - these people have no proper outlet to talk and of course these guys have money! So what I am trying to say is, its a very complex topic, deeply personal and judgements should probably be questioned. oh...(I also take therapy :-P)

You can't be selfish. Up to certain age , girls need parents support for everything. Once they are financially independent, then whatever their parents say is rubbish for them. Only if you are in their position only, you will know the pain they suffer. It's sad to see that, the person who interviews her also supporting her in whatever she says.
