My Pops drove a 79 352. The company he was driving for bought a hole fleet of them brand new in 79. He would sneak us kids on runs to LA back in the 80s when we were out of school for summer. Some of my best memories were in that Pete. Hoping some day to find a clean 79. Always loved the 2 windows in rear. His had a Cummins in it.

the one i drove had the medium red interior almost dark but in sunlight light looked bright red tuck in roll had buttons everywhere outside was a dark metallic brown with 4 stripes running through it with one stupid shiny stack cause company felt it saved them money compared to 2 which would have made it look so cool

@@fsctrucking Well, being on probation ..with conditions is no excuse to do what ever he was re-arrested for. Like leaving the state of Florida, and posting video of him in another state. Driving without a CDL across state line. Driving without D.O.T. registration on the tractor.
The list could be very long, and from county, state, or federal. He blew us off when we advised him. His problem now.
I lost respect for him and left his channel.

I absolutely love Peterbilt cabovers! My Dad was a long distance truck driver. I was born in 1974 and from birth until my Dad had to medically retire in 1990, I travelled all over this great Nation of ours and Canada mainly in cabover semi trucks. Most were either Peterbilts or Freightliners but my Dad always loved Pete’s! His dream semi would be a metallic blue Peterbilt with a Caterpillar or Cummins engine, and the truck and trailer both having lots of lights and shiny chrome. One of these days I’m going to buy an old cabover Peterbilt and some kind of box trailer and flatbed trailer and then do a ground up, frame off restoration on both things to honor my Dads memory! If he was still alive today, he would absolutely love to watch videos from this UA-cam channel and many more that are exactly like it!

Flash forward - It's May 2022. Recently found your channel and checking out older videos. I went full time remote work over 2 years ago, like many others. I like watching your videos on the road with the cabover. Comforting to see the open highway after I'm done driving the mission of the agency through virtual meetings. Cabovers are cool. Got my drivers license in '88 when there were still a lot on the road. By the way, you're visibly smaller now than these older videos. You're very disciplined. I bet you've had to buy a new belt, if not new pants. I'm working on self discipline myself in that department as you have.

Peterbilt changed to the 362 in 1981. I love both of them. The 352 looks like a 352H (highcab) judgeing by the gap between the tires and cab. What i love about your 362 the most is its ALL ORIGINAL. No stupid train horn or ridiculous stretched frame. It would have been really cool if you had restored the 352 and put it back in service with orwell! Also now you need a very 372 to complete the trio!

Hello, I am a great Spanish fan of trucks from all over the world, and of course the North Americans are on my list of favorites, especially Cabovers, and Peterbilt is at Number one, in Spain we had mainly two brands of heavy trucks that it sure sounds to you, an ENASA era Pegaso, and the other was Barreiros-Dodge that was finally absorbed by Renault Trucks, Barreiros assembled many vehicles in its Madrid factory in Villaverde, among them North American cars in the 60s and 70s, the third generation Dodge Darts, Those corresponding to the years 1965 and 1966, of course at that time and in Spain were the best automobiles on the market, also the most expensive, very few European countries could say that they assembled authentic North American automobiles. Thank you very much for your video, it is very well explained and it is a pleasure to see your machines in detail. Thank you. Greetings from Spain.

My first C.O.E. was a 1990 Freightliner . Running for Apple lines out of Madison, S.D. . Don't bother looking them up. But I pretty much got to see the U.S. from a C.O.E. cab. I personally love seeing these wonderful tractors running the highways, knowing that they are still making money for someone, and that is really fricken cool to me. If it wasn't for medical reason I would still be driving. And with you doing the restore on these things is bringing back some great memories for me. Thanks! Waiting for the next video, already. I just simply love the old rigs! 🥰 I’m not much of a day cab guy, even though they have their advantages, but some have been cool to drive... the C 800 Ford cabover with a 390 gas engine. I love the tall trucks with a big sleeper. The Crackerbox rigs don’t count as a sleeper truck...you’re just laying on your side on a shelf. The old cabovers have lots of style and class...and they get your attention when you see them on the road. 🥰 And they’re TALL! 😎 I’m sure that the new owner will be pleased when you guys are done with the 352.

I teamed in a 362 with a good(now gone but not forgotten)friend for a few months pulling a 53' flatbed mostly between FL. and MA. hauling anything we could find. Like "Orwell", it was powered by a CAT. It was a pretty nice old truck and didn't ride all that bad. I dove the old 352's for years and they were super good trucks. There was as much hit you in the face difference between them and the COE Freighhtliner as the battery boxes on those 2 trucks. The only flaw I ever found in the old 352 was that they popped and snapped a lot when you were making hard turns and maneuvering around at a slow speed but I guess that's what kept them from cracking and breaking. I was impressed with how good the old Cummins fired up! Orwell sounds like he might be loosing prime. Maybe a check valve. I wound up going to a hardware store and buying a galvanized check valve for a water line and installed it where the draw line hooks on at the fuel tank and that fixed mine. I say a lot because I see a lot and I try to leave constructive comments. I hope some of this has been helpful or at least interesting. Thanks for this great video😎🇺🇸

Both are Caterpillar. 3406A in the 352, and Orwell with the 3406B. both originally white too I'll add.

@@fsctrucking I remember the engines that were painted white. I think the Cummins that was in the 352 that I drove was white too but I'm not sure. The white engines were a Peterbilt thing and not anything to with the engine manufacturers. The early 352's I drove for Dairy Trans.(who coincidently pulled dairy tanks) had 8V71 Detroit's. Those engines were green. Thanks for the reply and have a good rest of the weekend! 😎

I'm new to the channel, (one day).As soon as I saw that cabover Pete I was hooked. The first truck we owned was a 74 model, canary yellow. Started out in 1979 hauling crude oil, ended up leased to International Transport hauling jet engines.

Cool bit of kit. I drove a couple of boats owned by the same family. 1 an 8/71 and the other an 8/71 TTA the 8/71 would burst into life the moment I touched the starter, the turbo one always slow to start and from cold, ether or flat batteries. They were fun though.

I remember the cab overs when I was a kid in the 70's which I called those flat nose when I was growing up. I had a uncle who drove a cab over when he drove for Coca-Cola 18 wheeler then he went independent which he pulled different trailers including flatbed but when he was killed in late 70's or early 80's he was hauling cattle.

So I see there have been a few comments on putting shiny buds on your '84, and I gotta chime in..... Nope. The steels look fantastic and are period correct, great look for that truck. That is all, I dig your content, and the various angles you give on the road. Subbed.

Fuel pressure is bleeding down on Orwell . I found that to be true on older mechanical Cats. I don't think it is anything to worry about, but for peace of mind check the fuel system out you never know if some part is getting tired to give you trouble down the road.

My 3406 also fires up slowly when at idle, especially with the day's first start. My thought was to put a high idle solenoid on it that is parallel with the starter. You could even put it on a separate circuit then you can have a high idle switch on the dashboarrd. Good for .. well.. jump starting other vehicles or if you want to run air tools off the air supply

Ya man love the truck cabover content. Be really cool to see you get another old Cabover and take it from junkyard abandoned to a shake your moneymaker to either put on the road to make some money or sell off. That sort of restoration is very cool. Congrats on the Pete you have and the job you've done on it [may want to build a battery box either on the side or on the deck so you don't have to go through all that grief when a jump is needed [the current location isn't making much sense as you say]. :-) Cool stuff!
