All of train class in Indonesia now day with AC from the lowest class to the most expensive class. In some class with LCD TV, free WiFi on board, free meals and snack, free blanket. FYI, Jakarta has many train station, Senen station for the economy class to central and east Java, Gambir station for the luxurious and economy premium to Bandung, central and east Java. Manggarai station will be the Integrated modern biggest main central station but still in progress ( finish 2025 ), and Halim station for bullet train from Jakarta to Bandung ( will opening August 18. 2023 ).

All trains are air conditioned.

you use the cheapest train. the train is for low-income Indonesians who have been subsidized by the government. I don't recommend using that type of train, especially for long distance travel. I suggest you to use business class, executive class, or luxury trains.
I think the fare is different for foreigners.. but was definitely interesting to experience train travel like the locals. Felt very similar to our own country (where it's subsidized too) 🤓
