I have a feeling that while this was the sixth episode taped, it was set to originally air as the season premiere due to the intro announcing the return of a certain cocky, explosive, and aggressive Gladiator.
This season just feels off. Not having Powerball in the episodes, having different events for the men and women and having one less event… the sheen is wearing off by this point.
In my opinion; American Gladiators peaked in Season 3. You had that awesome Grand Championship showdown (Mark Ortega/Joe Mauro), other quality contenders, the events were solid. Plus the right mix of Gladiators.
I laughed at Nitro’s excuse for his absence. We now know according to the documentary that he was fired when he and Ice wanted more money. They deserved a raise to me.
After season 3, Nitro and the other Gladiators protested over the cheapskate producers refusing to pay them royalties for the merchandising with their likenesses on them and got terminated. Some of them begged and got rehired for season 4 (with a large group of new Glads joining them). Ice sat out season 4, and the others didn't bother coming back at all. After season 5 wrapped up, the show's ratings took a turn for the worse, so the producers asked for Nitro back and he agreed, provided that he take the role of co-host for season 7. None of the Gladiators ever received merchandising royalties.
Nitro returning wasn't really the flex they thought it was, was it? At least, I didn't feel it. I barely felt his absence when we had other amazing Gladiators out there shining in seasons 4 and 5. His performances so far have been lacklustre and it's obvious that his Gladiator contemporaries have surpassed him in skill, speed and intimidation 🤷♂️
Warning- The gladiators and contestants are highly trained athletes and have a lifetime of experience, but they are not invincible. Bodies have been broken, necks broken, concussions inflicted, and careers ended in an instant. Although it is entertainment, the hazards are real, and the contestants and gladiators take real risks, endure unimaginable pain, and put their bodies, their careers, and their lives on the line. Don't risk yours! Be Smart! Be Safe! PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, SCHOOL OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
I really liked turbo when I was a kid; but man, now that I’m much older and watching these old episodes, I never realized how much of a douche he was lol. They fired titan for chasing the referee, but yet, turbo continuously got away with taking cheap shots on contestants, getting in contestants’ faces and talking crap to them when things didn’t go his way, he was just an overall prick who was full of himself. Then on the other hand, I wasn’t a fan of hawk when I was younger, and now I am going back and watching these because he is the best attitude out of all of them. Tower was a really cool guy too. Nitro was up there with turbo as far as being a douche, but even nitro wasn’t as bad as turbo
Wouldn't be surprised if the taping of an episode went across two days, given there were 10 events to set up (3 of the 7 were split), and with four "lineups" in the prelims, they likely taped four shows at once.
Why was the second contender not be awarded in Breakthrough when he broke the plane? He should have not been awarded in Conquer for that blatant moment.
Well, Stewart Nolan (in black), his knees did not land first, as for the Conquer Ring, it should have been a little bigger, otherwise Stewart's foot should have stayed in the red ring before the start.
Apparently the rule is that you have to make some sort of sideways move instead of going straight. Truthfully, there's been a lot of contestants that have done the same thing. It's just that most of them don't come close to scoring. Turbo was hilarious btw. If he thought the non-move was illegal you know he would've whined to Larry Thompson about it.
As was mentioned before there have been contenders in the past that tried the same move and were stopped by the Gladiator..No admonishment by the referee when that happened. But nothing was said when the 1st contender was already out of bounds and Turbo still flung him to the ground.Turbo did from time to time ride the line between playing hard and playing dirty. As far as the conquer circle, yes he did have 1 foot out of the circle but I would place the blame of the referee, spotters, etc who should've caught that before the play began.
@@juanortiz3323 It's because he did no lateral movement, no attempted at juke, spin, or anything, just straight lowered his shoulder, and with how many hits the gladiators take over the course of a season, they didn't want to encourage contestants to do that I think.
0:00 You can tell this was the first episode of the series just from this intro, even without the fanfare of Nitro's return!!!
That was when Nitro came back, and after that he hung his Gladiator uniform for good, became the color commentator for the final season.
The season 6 opening
The day Nitro came back.
I like that women and men have a different event each round this season. You get to see more games even though they went back to 7 events
Don't you dare steal my dog Nitro.
Nitro ate my hamster. :(
Seeing Turbo get leveled in breakthrough was so satisfying. Wanted that guy to win so bad.
turbo laid down bro, he barely "bull rushed" him, just made cause they were so roided up and he womped on them guys with strats
Lmao nitro threatening to kidnap a child
I have a feeling that while this was the sixth episode taped, it was set to originally air as the season premiere due to the intro announcing the return of a certain cocky, explosive, and aggressive Gladiator.
Nitro punks every contender out. He is the Terry Crews of American Gladiators.
No I have seen him loose and punch guy in back of head because contestant destroyed him.
@patrickmoylan5983 the difference from then to this was he stopped doing roids
That was a really good episode! Had some genuinely compelling competition this time. Much better than the previous episode lol
Ahhhhh, this was supposed to be the very first episode 😢

I was happy that Turbo didn't explode on Stewart in Breakthrough.
But Turbo got him on "Pyramid".
This season just feels off. Not having Powerball in the episodes, having different events for the men and women and having one less event… the sheen is wearing off by this point.
Yeah, any episode that doesn't have powerball never feels complete.

Supposedly there's still bad blood between Sabre and Nitro according to an interview with Sabre
The male Gladiators all seem to be in a bad mood this season.
5:05 the dude drops the ball on the platform. That point should not have counted.
So why is this episode 6 and not episode 1 in season 6?
After 2 seasons Nitro is back
Why did Nitro leave?

Turbo Probert strikes again.
Is this the first time an alternate won on AG? (that wasn't a contender who was already in the tournament who got a second chance)
Tim Goldrick from season 3, who won 5 grand in the first half, says hello. As does Susie Stencil from the same season, second half.
Stewart Nolan should have just followed rules. Now, the gladiators have it out for him
Truthfully he got lucky the men didn't play Powerball because I can guarantee you if they would have, Turbo and Laser would have destroyed him
@@davidford3968 that’s absolutely true. Turbo and Laser would go and rough him up in powerball definetely…

It was a fantastic race in the Women's Eliminator between Sonya La Bar and Shirley V. De W. Buys.

The return of Nitro
The ratings ploy to end all ratings ploys.
1:08 yes.
It was an awesome comeback in the Men's Eliminator between Curt Gibson and Stewart Nolan.
If turbo had a good personality he had a good look to be actor
I so agree! He was very handsome but his personality wasn’t so great.
Turbo and rules…..ZERO room to talk. Shut up. I’ve counted turbo DQ’ed 6 times so far
Yes Laser you DID get beat 😂
