Absolutely love these types of videos, Chris. Deeply grateful for all that you do. Helping beautiful people, providing useful guides, the educational stuff, these field trips... I even applied to Iglu now. Coming to Thailand finally. 🙏
Happy to see my old colleague Jimmy in one of your videos. I remember when he started working in BKK back in 2016 and I knew he would be doing great for himself there. I miss working with you, Jimmy!
I think this video was not entirely about remote working...this was more about how to get job in Thailand. We want to know more about remotely working in Thailand as solo person
Finding a remote job in Thailand is not realistic for the average Westerner. But finding an 80k a year remote job in the west is somewhat realistic. The issue is that just because it's remote doesn't mean there aren't certain times to work. And those times are often between 11pm and 7am US west coast time (PST) which means you sleep during the day and miss out on having fun
The most important would be what kind of wage to expect. Because if you can't leverage a western salary then it's not so attractive. Real remote is you have an Australian/Canadian/us job and you are fully nomad.
Yes Chris , i love this coverage of this video that you have done and have send a message to Jimmys company and i hope they can help me find a job as i am planning to move to Bkk, thank you for your hard work
I plan to relocate to Thailand and continue providing sustainability consulting services to businesses in my home country and other nations, primarily to my existing clients who can be done remotely. I may also explore opportunities to collaborate with Thai businesses interested in this type of consulting. Although regular travel will be necessary, I believe establishing a base in Thailand will be advantageous. I truly appreciate your video, thank you.
THIS was exactly MY plan until two years ago. I could have done it. Then my job situation changed but boy the dream was there, absolutely. And if my current job allowed it....I'd be there on the next flight out!!!
An absolutely awesome video of information. I just sent my brother a link to your video. For IT jobs. I just got back from Thailand myself. I miss it a whole bunch. Thanks again Chris.
Thanks for this. My wife and I have been talking about next steps as we get a little older. One option is I can work remotely in my current job (already did it two times while visiting Thailand) and if she gives up her job we can live much more cheaply in Thailand.
Excellent useful & informative content . Please keep going ! 😊 . A run down / checklist of things to consider / do for moving to Thailand will be helpful if not already done. Thank you
Hey Chris, great video as usual, but highly specialized. Nothing wrong with that since so many think they can come here and live as a digital nomad, remote worker, or UA-camr. I am curious about other non-tech jobs that might be available for expats. Of course there are teaching jobs galore, or the wanna-be bar owner or real-estate tycoon. I have seen an occasional expat in some hotels and resorts. How about NGO's and other charity organizations? How does one find a position with them? Perhaps you can explore some of the lesser-known job possibilities are available to expats. While you are at it, you might want to get into jobs that expats are not usually allowed to hold in Thailand.
Hell ya Chris, that was awwesome content,,, would love to hear more about remote working and anything that assists expats living or wanting to live in Thailand for employment.... advising on tax and visa obviously required content ,,, RW4U thanks Chris
Would I be correct in making the assumption that "because Thailand is a developing country and everything is new", that living in a condo/apartment in Bangkok, or any other major city, one could expect access to running water, electricity, and air conditioning 24/7, and that interruptions of service would be a rare occurrence, as in the probability of maybe once every ten years, or so? Just found RW4U, and I'm making my way around RW4U videos. I appreciate that these videos are quite informative. Thank you.
VIdeo suggestion: Go back to some old Bangkok condo videos and compare what they were selling for then to what they sell for now. Call it "Buying vs renting a condo. Where has your nest egg gone?"
Would love to learn more about these groups(other then IT related roles) that companies are hiring Expats in Thailand for. Especially if they are not reducing your income to Thai pay rates just because you are living there. Even igloo is saying to customers they are trying to attract that they have to pay less for labor for Expats then working remote in our home countries so we are losing value by using them versus a overseas coming paying us what we used to be payed back home.
Over the past 5 years I have been focusing my legal career so I could work remotely. My expectation is next year I can spend 3 to 6 months in in Jomtien and fully time by 2026.
He says your income would have to be quite high to be in the higher tax brackets but you only have to be over 54 thousand US dollars to get to 30 percent. That is much much higher tax vs the US at the same income levels. Understandable considering normal income levels over there but if you are making US level income you're gonna be paying higher taxes in Thailand it would seem. I'd also love to get confirmation that the tax brackets are handled the same was as in the USA. Meaning only the money that is in a given bracket is taxed at it's respective rate. For example, if I made 60000 US dollars there, that would put me in the 30% bracket. In the US, only the money that is in that bracket is taxed at that rate. Not the whole 60000. I'm guessing it's the same but this is an important thing to confirm. If the whole thing is taxed at that 30% then that is way way higher a rate. This isn't to say that the lower cost of living couldn't still offset that but it at least closes the gap on the cost of living difference. Thanks for the video. I do like these types of videos. I'm really anxious to see a follow up video regarding how the new tax law affects expats simply bringing money to Thailand or even just using Foreign credit cards. Though I'm guessing to really know how it is working, we'll need to wait for tax time next year.
For countries with tax treaties with Thailand (like Canada) you pretty much only pay your home country income tax and those credits should cover all your Thailand tax due right Chris
I would like to learn more on being a freelancer or having your own company, as a video maker or writer, something like that. What's the best approach to get a job, or like, asked for a job and being based in Thailand.
Hi Chris, I hope you're doing well. I've been a follower of your channel for some years and always enjoy your content. I recently watched your latest video about finding remote jobs in Thailand, which I found very helpful for many people. However, my situation is a bit different, and I'd like to propose an idea for a video that I think might be interesting for other followers as well. Although I've visited Thailand several times and feel quite comfortable moving around there, my goal is to permanently move there in the next few years. I'm not looking for a traditional job; instead, I'm interested in finding other entrepreneurs with business ideas who want to start them in Thailand. I have the experience and the necessary capital to invest in promising projects, but from my home country, it's difficult to find people with the same aspirations. Do you know of any sites or platforms where I can find other entrepreneurs interested in starting businesses in Thailand? I think many of your followers could benefit from this information as well. If you could make a video about this or give me some guidance, I would be very grateful. I hope you can consider my suggestion and that it can be useful for you and others in the community. Thank you for all the content you share and for your dedication. Best regards
Great channel and enjoy every of your videos! I am a medical doctor in Cape Town, actually I am a blood specialist and want to move to Thailand. Could you get a doctor in your study and inverview him/her about jobs for doctors/specialists like me?
Thanks Chris! Love your field trip experiences and information, and looking forward to more of similar content! However, could you possible do a episode on how to differentiate a genuine employer than a non genuine employer in thailand business environment as JOB SCAMs are number one found in many south east asia countries like thailand. Maybe could you teach us how to do background checks and verification with Thailand authorities, to ensure that this particular job is safe to come to work, rather than people just got scam to come thailand, got picked up by representative of human traffic organization in airport and one way ticket straight into hell, just like what happened for the past few years to many malaysians, thailands, taiwanese who got scam to go cambodia to work, which in fact went straight into hell.

It would be great to see a video about importing and exporting Products from Thailand. There is the Khlong Toei Pier in Bangkok and I wonder if it is possible to ship and import products there. I think this could be an interesting visit there on the Pier 🚤🌞
why do you keep steering around the issue with these videos? dicuss the elephant in the room. updates on the new earned revenue tax code that started earlier this year. stop rambling about other tops .
There is not too much to say about it until a lot more clarity comes about in terms of how Thai government chooses to enforce this very vague change in their tax law. It could potentially hammer expats, but from what I've read the law is mostly meant to capture more income from their citizen base. I'm worried about this too as my original plan was to move to Thailand in 2025. I don't think we will get more clarity about how they enforce this law until 2025 though. My plan is to not open up local Thai bank account but use Wise and extract money from ATM as needed. Yes a retirement VISA requires having a local Thai bank account, but I've read VISA agents can help one navigate around that requirement.
I love being a retiree in Thailand. One of my first thoughts when I came here was , “ I can’t imagine working in Thailand”. The whole Thailand vibe doesn’t mesh with concentrating on work. There was little in the way of remote work in my day so it’s just me, being a Boomer, who hasn’t kept up with the times.
It would be a waste of time and life to work while retired. Thailand is too wonderful to work and life is too short to spend working, especially for Thai wages.
I’m 100% disabled combat veteran making $4k a month. In LA my rent is $2400 I can barely think like this. Is 4k enough to get started? I obviously have savings but wanted to have some different options for income streams How much do most retired people usually make?
@@seanfrancis7101 $4,000/month is 147,000 baht/month. That will be more than enough to live almost anywhere in Thailand. For example, I had a 50 square meter condo in central Bangkok with a rent of 25,000 baht/month ($680). It would be good to have $100,000 in savings.
Living in the West is driving me insane. It feels like literally everything is upside down: after visiting Pattaya Thailand it’s all I think about every day and I’m counting down the days to get back there.
Another great video thanks Chris. Is there any further development with the new Tax laws? We looked at Condo’s for sale in our recent trip. Is moving money to Thailand to purchase a Condo possible without getting taxed on the money. Our concern is if we decided to lease the Condo we would become a tax resident, and maybe be taxed on money brought into the country to purchase the Condo. In our case the money would come from the sale of assets in our home country, in which there is no capital gain tax.
Great informative video, Chris. Being able to find a good and reliable remote job is one of the top 3 things stopping me to move to Thailand. Please let me know what other companies in Thailand or elsewhere you know that can provide remote jobs that would help me and others make that move. ขอบคุณมาก
Please can I change the type of my visa when I get to Thailand for instance I go to Thailand with working visa and arriving in Thailand maybe i change my mind and apply for school can I change it to student visa or I went to Thailand with tourist visa can I change it to working visa or student visa like vise versa?
Well i work remotely from thailand every year for max 180 days (because of tax reasons and to protect my current employer to not open a branch there) so that is better than nothing. But at the moment I am thinking about buying a condo and staying in thailand, I just have to find a foreign company who has no problems with that.
Good topic. I am going to make the job switch to remote tech work. Lots of articles talking about a tech skill shortage compounded by a surge in current tech people retiring so good time to go into that area.
I might give this a chance tbh. I don't know what the pay is like. I saw one post with concerning figures. But, aye if it's something I could do then why not. I would just need emergency savings and such prior to leaving.
Are you allowed to work on a retirement visa?..And if you profit from blogging from Thailand on a retirement visa. Do they consider it working here? Can you also be taxed? Thanks
From one Chris to another thanks for your videos. I plan on moving to Thailand next year in fact, still deciding on exactly where though. Your video touching on the 8 Bangkok districts was very interesting. Right now it is between Bangkok, Hua Hin, and Pratumnak/Jomtien as I would like to be no further than a few hours away from Bangkok international airports. I'm in Bangkok right now in fact but suffering from a head cold. Darn my luck it seems every single time I visit Bangkok I get sick!!
Excellent look into what tax and visa for Thailand i worked in BK then had business in Koh SamuiI plan to return to Thailand ultimately with my own IT business but thinking of start with company and do both employed and self employed
Great video Chris. I would like to see a lot more videos like this. Also, you have made so many videos it can be hard to find a recent video on a subject. I recommend every six months to one year put out a summary video of moving to Thailand subjects. Maybe a 15 to to 20 min video where you would spend two minutes talking about getting heath insurance, go here and provide a link to your latest video. Want to get a drivers license, go here for info. Want to rent a place, go here and a link to your latest video. But all your subjects can get stale with time. So it would be nice to have a summary video every six months to a year. Great work and always love the content.
Chris, thank you for all the videos. I am traveling to Thailand for the first time in 8 days. I wouldn't be making the trip if you hadn't made the video on the first hour at the airport.
I would like to see a video digging deep into Thai health insurance...you mentioned you recently got a plan and previously had like a nomad insurance. I'm still confused by the options and all their positives and negatives such as large price increases.
Chris love the channel, have learned soooo much from you and feel ready to make the leap in a year or two after my old dog completes his journey! When are you gonna do a video on visas and how to evaluate companies to help you. Looking for better info on which visa for someone who wants to retire but also have the option to open a business in Thailand, or to work remote as a freelancer.
Hi Chris My wife and I would love to spend a year living and traveling in Thailand. The problem is we are not looking to retire there or work there. I’ve tried contacting the consulate on Los Angeles but couldn’t get an answer on what kind of visa we need to apply for or the best way to make the application. Any advice would be appreciated
@@picadosinfernowe are not looking to study or at least not attend classes on a regular basis. From what I understand they have become stricter on people trying to use this visa and not actually attend classes
You know. It's fine when not many foreigners move in my country. But now it's started to feel overwhelmed. I started to see the effects. Here in Thailand we grew up in Buddhist culture which difference from any country else in this world. It's impossible to say when some area in Thailand becomes popular with foreigners it won't change anything. People bring their way their culture from their country here around my house. I wish the atmosphere was the same. I hope Thailand is still the country that fully conservative not much foreigners move around. Thais increasingly concern about this not just me. I do not want to see huge amounts of foreigners change my town my district my province. Many Thais started too feel uncomfortable watching recommendations to move to Thailand etc., I will be honest here Thais now feel uncomfortable with foreigners move in but we always welcome tourists.

I might give this a chance tbh. I don't know what the pay is like. I saw one post with concerning figures. But, aye if it's something I could do then why not. I would just need emergency savings and such prior to leaving.
Love them Chris. Keep making them please.Great interview from both sides. Wassup Adam & Hailey. 👋😊
Pls do more ❤!
Thanks Chris. Love your content. You’re a fantastic ambassador.
As always, if you ever take a side trip to Japan 🇯🇵, please ping me. 😎
Definitely love these type of informative videos on opportunities in Thailand. Keep em coming Chris 👍🤩
Great video Chris as I am going to be a remote worker next year but on the retirement visa when I turn 50
Yes! Getting out into the world when it's relevant makes sense.
I love it, gradually moving closer to the great relocation.
What’s an “Seo bro “?
Great video! Thank you for the info🎉❤
Too damn hot
Nice video.
Hi Chris
My wife and I would love to spend a year living and traveling in Thailand. The problem is we are not looking to retire there or work there. I’ve tried contacting the consulate on Los Angeles but couldn’t get an answer on what kind of visa we need to apply for or the best way to make the application. Any advice would be appreciated
Get the ED visa
