West Ham star Lucas Paqueta faces years on the sidelines should he be found guilty of spot-fixing by the football association! FA. The Brazilian has been accused of picking up four deliberate yellow cards, with each offence carrying a six-month to lifetime ban. Paqueta's four bookings against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth in the last two seasons are being investigated by the FA - which they claim 'one or more persons' benefited from financially.
The first came against the Foxes in the 2022/23 season at the London Stadium, where he wiped out Boubakary Soumare, before immediately clattering into Dennis Praet on the hour mark.
In March 2023, the former Lyon star was then cautioned for a poor challenge from behind on Villa skipper John McGinn.
And in the penultimate Premier League clash against Leeds last campaign, he was shown a yellow for pulling back Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville in the 65th minute.
His booking in the opening match at Bournemouth this term is the last of the four, with Paqueta receiving a yellow for handball in stoppage time. His FA charge is set to scupper any potential move to Manchester City, who were interested in activating his £85million release clause this summer.

so can't people bet on this, personally if you do not get him directly involved he should be let free, all that's hurting FA is Brazilians taking their chances and winning some money.

​@@kayitamoses8580 The thing is that he's from an small island in Rio de Janeiro called "ilha de paquetá". If you search on Google you will find it. What is weird is that in those particular games that he's got yellows cards. A lot of people from this specific Island beettled yellow card on him. Why just in those games? Why the majority of bets were from this particular island tha he's was born? Even me who is from Brazil, and like to see he playing football find this weird.

Googling the topic reveals that betting on yellow cards is very common. Most of the time the bets are on less than familiar names but Paqueta takes his surname from the Brazilian island he was born on and has become a West Ham as well as a Brazilian star. I think that's the reason for what has already been described as the significant amount of betting there. Anyway, I think it's appalling that the FA has taken around 10 months to charge him, yet have given him only a week to reply. On the other hand, some of those yellow cards he got did look a bit dodgy. Oh well, we just have to wait and see what happens next.
