It can deal 1-3 hit points (the first sword (aka rusty sword) that you get deals 2-5 hit points so it's not that bad) which might seem like it's going to take you forever to get enough money from their loot, but here's the good news, these guys drop alot weapons, and the better the weapons the more monsters you get to kill, the more monsters you get to kill the more exp you get, and the higher your level is the stronger the monster get, and the better the loot gets
So yeah they're REALLY useful

I’ve been doing it, with the rule that I can actually leave the farm but only on festival days and I can’t buy anything. After the fishing competition I “acquired” a fishing rod, cuz I’m “playing” like Willy decided to just give it to me then instead. Also, I’ve got monsters on and I get so many mixed seeds from wilderness golems, and I’m at such a high level that some monsters have started dropping legit diamonds. I also have a mod that lets me level up my fighting XP on the farm, otherwise it doesn’t count as XP, which annoyed me 😅 I’m letting my weeds grow but I also have a noclip mod, otherwise I’d be unable to go anywhere. I know it’s cheaty, but I’m having fun! 😂

@@flazeflame7372 True. But what I meant was that by just adding that one action to the others possible on the farm, getting one candle was achievable. Even if you couldn't get the points from actions that require you to be off the farm.
I was wrong though. Getting four candles actually is possible without ever leaving the farm! I have done it since then.

I've been SO inspired by him! I came up with my own variation. Minimum security prison kind of deal that lets you leave the farm sometimes, so you can forage and do business in town. It's being a really fun playthrough! You really have to strategize.

@@TheMoneyOven Once a year isn't my variation. Mine lets you leave for all festivals, you get two Free Days per season to do anything you want, and you can have one Business Day per week to use the shops.
It sounds like a lot compared to "never leave your farm" but it still requires a ton of strategy and planning to get stuff done, and you are still very limited how much you can do off the farm.

For anyone else who might want to give the Never Leave the Farm challenge a shot (and happens to see this comment before then…) I’ve tried out this challenge several times and have a few tips!
1. Use the Four Corners farm. None of the other even compare for ease of navigation and resource availability. With that in mind…
2. Check the mini-quarry every single day, and keep it clear. You will start getting iron ore at mining level 4, gold at 7, and iridium at 10. It takes a long time to level, so mine everything you can.
3. The top left corner corner will spawn mixed-seed weeds, but only if there are weeds there in the first place. Clear out everything else, but leave the normal weeds so they can spread!
4. (Edited) Go for the cave upgrade as soon as possible. Both options have their pros and cons, depending on whether you want fruit for wine and Foraging XP or mushrooms for quicker cash and easier Fall Seeds from Brown Mushrooms (they are craftable even with the Fruit Bats, but it’s a much more rng process). Speaking of which…
5. You can (and should) get a seed maker. Get to Farming 9 using Mixed Seed crops, get Mining 7 for gold ore, and use Brown Mushroom for Fall Seeds and Winter Root for Winter Seeds. In the meantime (while you level Mining), get kegs, preserves jars, and tappers.
6. For professions, go with Tiller-Artisan (Jelly/Pickles, Juice/Wine, and Mead), Miner-Prospector (you will always need more ore and coal), and Gatherer-Botanist (you won’t need Hardwood since you can’t use casks, and you can get Fall and Winter seeds with Tip 5).
7. Save your Stone for preserves jars! They’re a great money maker, and 40 stone starts to look like a lot a few seasons in.
I‘ll probably add onto this as I think of new stuff, but feel free to add your own tips in the replies!

Instead of prison I think of this more of a castaway run. The money isn't real, it's just points. It's oddly calming. No neighbours.
I'm doing this challenge. However, each year i can leave an extra day. Currently on year 4 and I go out 3 times this year

@@Waligug You should visit the Night Market on Year One. Then you could maybe upgrade one tool, and get seeds for each season, and buy from clint and robin at Year One prices.

My main save is literally on the beach farm take that haters I water my flipin crops
same though I haven't gone back to that one in a while cause I woke up one summer and didn't know that leaving your scarecrows out when the season changes could potentially make the fibers and other things destroy them and I lost all the rarecrows and normal scarecrows I collected.

It was my first save file on stardew valley and I got acces to cherry bombs and my first ancient seed. I started to plant the ancient seeds and then I placed a cherry bomb. And watching it explode made me die inside :( no more ancient seeds

@@uhnoah3974 The game only saves when you sleep and wake up in the morning. So if you mess up during the day just exit the game and re-join. You will load in waking up, on the same day.

It's too bad you didn't turn on mob drops. At least you could get bat wings and slime. Sometimes fiber or mixed seeds. They're still worthwhile to sell even if you don't get combat xp from them.
Edit: I take it back. If you never leave your farm you can't get a sword, so that'd be hard to fight.

Why do people who do this challenge pick this farm? Your main money maker is the mixed seeds, and you don’t get very many of those unless you choose either the forest farm or the four corners farm, where some weeds are guaranteed to give you mixed seeds. Four corners is the best because it is the best farm for getting seed makers and ancient fruit (seed makers require farming level 9 and a gold bar, which you get at mining level 7)

If you manage to create Wild Forage Seeds for each season, then you could probably make a million before Grampa's evaluation. If not, then i doubt you can.
It'd be technically possible to get ancient fruit without leaving the farm on Four Corners or Hillside. Level farming with mixed seeds, and level mining with the nodes. Level 7 mining makes gold nodes appear on the farm I believe. It would probably take like a century of in game years to accomplish though, lol.

am trying this and am winter year three and only level 6 farming (of 9 needed for the seed maker, and i need wayyy more xp for those final three levels rip)
@@rubberducky6155 I'm trying this on Four Corners. I'm holding all mixed seeds to plant in Fall, because those give you the best regrowable crops and the most xp per crop. Also farming my weeds carefully so they can regrow for more seeds.
Edit: I changed my mind, i think you get better xp planting in summer, because of the corn not dying in fall.

@@jeremiahlampkey3137 I'm not sure I have the patience to go there for real. But I can say that I was able to create 42 mixed seeds through careful weed farming in first spring on my Forest Map farm. Four Corners had more space and better layout, so I expect I could get more.
I would never be selling any produce, since honestly I don't need the money. So anything I grow can become seeds in the seed maker for "someday".
The seed maker gives about a 1/200 chance of creating ancient seeds, and I'm pretty sure I could get 200-300 crops to put through the seed maker in two years.
Farming level 9 takes 10,000 xp. Assume maybe 100 mixed seeds planted in fall with average xp of 38 each, that's 3800 xp earned per year of mixed seeds, so figure at least three years in game before you'd reach farming level 9.

I have no idea how long it would take to reach level 7 mining on the tiny farm mine. Even including rocks on the farm, carefully trying to let them regrow too, it would probably take forever since you will never get gem nodes. IDK. At least you do get xp for every rock you break.
@@Marialla. Thanks for the update! I do think it would probably take many, many years. You should be able to get much more xp per mixed seeds though. In summer, you'd plant them to get Hot Peppers which grow quickly and regrow. You'd plant the mixed seeds in a mass area, remember which tiles ones turned into hot pepper seeds, then restart the day and plant the seeds where they turned into hot peppers only. You should be able to guarantee the correct crops and get quite a lot of them.
Probably it'd still take many years, though!

My biggest save file ever at the time of posting this was the beach farm, since I rarely plant stuff outside of the greenhouse; it’s pretty easy to maintain everything.

what kinda black magic are you performing to swing your axe so fast?
It's a developer tool left in the game called "Animation-cancelling"! Press Right Shift + Del + R while clicking to perform an action and it'll cancel the animation, meaning that you can perform another action immediately. It's a lot of buttons to press at once though, so it's recommended to install a macro key program like AutoHotKey to combine everything into just one button.

ConcernedApe dropped on a stardew stream and talked with the streamer for a bit, the streamer asked about animation cancelling and Concerned didnt knew it existed. He decided to keep it in the game since it made the game more "challenging" and enjoyable. He really is the purest of man, not patching a bug because some people think its fun.

I agree with you, I wish that more developers kept glitches in their games if it didn't ruin the gameplay for regular people. I love things things like any% speedruns, and I've seen many run methods die out because of unnecessary bug-patching.

Okay I just did the test run of Forest Map prison for spring. No daffodils or horseradish ever spawned on my farm. Double checked the wiki and daffodils aren't even listed as possible to spawn. So wild seed packets are out for spring.
Wiki does say all 3 forage are possible for summer. But in fall it grows mushrooms, not forage. And nothing is listed for winter forage. So forest farm is a fail.
I did make $6282 for the month, and gathered 42 mixed seeds which I would save to plant in fall.
I play on the Forest Farm on my regular playthrough and I can assure you that horseradish do spawn but I can't remember about the daffodils
@@lucid_walking9619 yeah the wiki said horseradish were supposed to have 25% chance to spawn. But I didn't get one all spring, and daffodils were not said to spawn.
My point is, Lumberjack profession is the way to go, not Botanist.
I play forest + Fruit bat fro my year one completions, never got a daffodillo on my farm. Did get a couple of horseradishes though. Might be just a bit of bad luck you didn't get any

Hey, if you never leave your farm you might still mine copper, stone, and coal, and raise your forage enough to make a tapper! You could add the goal to get each of the kinds of trees tapped. But then you'd be better off in Hilltop farm, so you could get much more copper.

For a few playthroughs I've been doing what could kind of be considered an opposite of this? I just try to get as far into the game as I can without planting any sort of crops at all (I don't count fruit trees)

Look into ArgonMatrix's stardew video on "Can you Complete the Community Center without Leveling Up" video to find what your looking for. Little to no farming is in it at all and it's very thorough

If I can never leave, I'm choosing the forest farm so i can grow forageables. It has the best chance of weeds dropping mixed seeds too.
Edit: don't bother, this idea is a fail. You only MAYBE can gather all seed packet ingredients in summer.
I'm doing a version of this where I can leave the farm once a month on the 4 corners farm. No forageables sadly but it has a small quarry, extra mixed seeds in the forest quadrant and a pond you can fish in.

No, the lack of ore isn't the problem. You can leave sticks and stones around and they will reproduce over time. The real problem with all farms is the lack of clear farming space between immoveable features like stumps and boulders.
The exception to this is Forest Farm, which is the one I like to play.

Not possible since you can’t buy animals for the animal bundle. Other things require leaving, such as ocean or river fishing bundles, the fire quartz (which is only found in the mines or in geodes), or the slimes and essences which are combat specific. Also, I guess you wouldn’t be able take them to the community center anyway 🤣
