      It's not the same station - in Czech language Dechovka means brass band music.
      This is Český Rozhlas Olomouc from a big hill. Nice transmitter and the highest point in CZ hotelpradedvysilac.cz/fotogalerie

    Is this direct reception not tropo?

    • @TheMajkla
      @TheMajkla  Рік тому +1

      That's right direct because I can hear these Czech and Austrian stations every day on that hill. Down in and around the house there's no chance of catching other than Slovak stations.
      The signal from the West is passing over the hills on the horizon (that direction where's the sunset and colourful clouds).

      @@TheMajkla Great distance for direct reception. Very good place also for tropo. Here only flat terrain with low altitude around - a really bad place for FM DXing.

      @@oz_dxShouldn't signals travel better on flat land because there are no obstacles?
      I had a look at the map - this transmitter is only 22 km from polish border and quite far indeed.
      My other usual catches are from Poland about 100-110 km but directly to north. Czech one was north-northwest.
      Amazing how good FM reception can be on the hills. The band is totally packed and there are multiple stations on one frequency often.

      @@TheMajkla Too low altitude and direct reception I get is maximum about 75-80 km. Also for tropo the place of reception must be as high as possible. For E-sporadic it's not so critical and ok.
