I read a fab little article today about a family who have everyone write their name on the white table cloth and then it’s embroidered. It often has embellishments like a graduation cap next to someones name or ‘first’. It would be something your family could do either each thanksgiving or Christmas get together. The family I read about lost a daughter and love seeing her name on the cloth each year. They add to it every year.
We always make cornbread dressing too. The ladies gather around the bowl and fuss a little over how much more sage and poultry seasoning to throw in. Then we all agree when it is just right and get us a little dish of “raw” dressing before we bake it. Why is it so good before it is baked? I told my niece to watch us well this year. She will be the fourth generation to carry the recipe down. I hope she will and just remember everyone when she does. Looks like your family had a good Thanksgiving together. I pray everyone in the NC mountains and those other states affected were fed and warmed. There is one cute baby story I will tell you as it comes to mind hearing Woodrow. My mother and I used to keep my first cousin’s son a lot. He always fought sleep like the devil. One night I was rocking him and walking him by turns. He finally screamed so loud that his face turned red and then stopped like he was dead. I ran to my mom with him and said, “ Oh! Momma this baby just screamed himself to death.” She looked at him worriedly and finally said, “Lori. He just fell asleep.” I always remind him how he scared me so bad by screaming himself to sleep. That baby is 21 now. Love to all.
Y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and made lots of sweet memories to cherish always. Can’t wait to hear Granny’s Christmas story she shared with y’all. I glad Katie was quick thinking to record it too.
I never had a dishwasher in all three of my homes. I have always washed dishes by hand. People think I’m nuts. But I love to wash dishes it cleans my hands and I don’t have to worry about it breaking and flooding my kitchen. Plus with the view out my window to the mountains I could stand there all day and watch the deer and the birds. ❤
I love watching your beautiful family. My family used to get together like you all. Most of my precious family are gone now. We had a huge get together for holidays. I miss it so much. Miss all my family so much. I was surely blessed and you are too. God bless you and all your precious family Tipper and Matt.🙏🙏🩷💙
Our children and grandchildren live in many states, but we all spend Thanksgiving together by renting a large house or resort together for a week. This year we were in the Outer Banks. We have been in Virginia, Tennessee, Chicago, and Caribbean cruise. I am grateful that our children’s families and our grandchildren ages 6 to 23 still want to be together-loving each other and praising God.
My Daddy would say, “I’m going to fly up” when he got ready for bed. People today wouldn’t have a clue what that meant. Sure love watching your family videos. They bring back so many memories of my growing up & my family who are all gone now. Thanks for sharing!
I fix the dressing at our house every year and have been for 20 years. I use cornbread, dried bread, 1 sleeve or crackers, onions &celery ( I cook the onions and celery in a stick of butter on the stove before adding to the dressing mix ), chicken broth, salt, pepper, and add poultry seasoning and sage until I get the taste right, after that I add raw eggs. I probably like a little more sage than the normal person but it seems to be a hit every year. Just had a plate of dressing and gravy for supper tonight. My granny's dressing was always a little dry, mine stays moist even after a few days in the fridge.
Love from my family to your's. Please pray for everyone who was affected by the hurricane and make sure they are able to have a happier holiday season. Share the Love. Love is the glue that holds everything together in our Universe.
I love the fact that you call it dressing. My mother and her mother always called it dressing, but growing up in Cincinnati, most of my friends and their families called it stuffing. Whatever you call it I love it. Hearing you talk about it reminds me of my mother and grandmother who are both long gone.
My mother would stuff the turkey and call it stuffing. The huge casserole cooked separately, she called dressing. We all loved the dressing, but the stuffing was beyond delicious with all that turkey juice baked right into it.
What a nice family they are!! their parents did a good job bringing the two girls up, they are so grounded and respectful and appreciative of everything they have, lovely to see in a world where many families are falling apart and dysfunctional. My family is similar to this family, except we do have disagreements and bicker, but we love each other!! Lovely to see this family enjoying a family get together and good food and company. Absolutely wonderful. 😊
Heck yes . . . use those tablecloths as long as you can. Reminds me of 1969. In service I sent by grandmother a handmade tablecloth from Hong Kong and a set of stoneware dishes from Japan. That Christmas they sent me a picture of the whole family gathered around her big round table set for dinner. That tablecloth was stained through the years, but wish I still had it. A young girl in the family took the dishes when grandmother died . . . made me happy.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I am thankful for your channel and YOU!❤ Love this time of year with family and friends and just the lovely cozy feeling it brings even if things don't go as we hoped. God is so good! Your channel helps remind if that every time I watch😊
Granny! Dang she filled her plate UP! I love that. She must be feeling good. We put raw eggs, sausage and applesauce in our dressing. Super moist in the middle, crispy on the top. Blessings to all!
Happy Thanksgiving to the Presley family and extended family as well. Such a beautiful day! It is a true moment for all of us to be reminded to be “Thankful and Grateful “✝️💜🫶 for the life we have been given. God bless you and your loved ones. It looks like the day was fantastic. Filled with love. Esme’💚🎄❤
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for sharing your holiday with us! I have voice recordings of my beloved grandmother telling me stories, and I’ll cherish them forever. Whenever I miss her, I push play and close my eyes & hear her voice ❤
That is so sweet that you have tablecloths that granny made. I found a beautiful table cloth from a thrift store not to long ago that is hand crocheted from that really thin cotton yarn. I bought it and brought it home and put it on my table where it is still at. I told my husband that someone spent a long time crocheting it and they probably passed away and it ended up there. I wasn't going to let it go to waste, I would give it new life. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
You’re the only other person I know who uses paper plates at thanksgiving besides myself. I’ve received a lot of critiques from my family and friends for using paper plates also. But I always get the pretty ones so they really shouldn’t complain I don’t think.
I was glad to see all your family together. Haven’t got to enjoy that for many years. All the years that I enjoyed making dressing I never heard of putting vinegar and mustard in it. But we all make it the way the cook makes likes it. I never made it dry, but if it had sage in it I was happy. I put sausage and chopped up apple in mine , that gave it a little spicy flavor , I wish Matt would make a cook book. He really knows flavors. God bless you and your family.
My mother would always have a starched tablecloth on the dining room table. Your spread of food looked wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your Thanksgiving with us. So, appreciate it.
That was a wonderful video. Another great video. Thank you for sharing it and all your family got together. What a blessing. Thank you for sharing it.❤
The Mountain View restaurant made a roasted turkey Ruben sandwich. Basically it was a Ruben sandwich made with roasted turkey, dressing, jellied cranberry sauce cheese and mayo Grilled in butter with thousand island salad dressing on the side. It was absolutely delicious.
Black pepper, or Piper nigrum, has been used since at least 2000 BC in India, where it was first cultivated around 1500 BC. The spice originated in the Western Ghats region of South Asia and Southeast Asia, and was prized for both its flavor and medicinal properties.
I'm with Matt. I'd rather have chicken than turkey, & I like the canned cranberry jelly. I was tired for you, watching y'all do all that preparation & cooking. The food looked delicious! Thank you for sharing yourselves & your Thanksgiving. You enrich my life. May God bless your family with continued good health, loving memories, & many more blessings to come.
Hi all, I'm from the UK & I've only recently started watching your channel, I've always had a fondness for America & only came across the Appalachian region & what the meaning was. What a blessing to have family that still gathers-for y’all to have Granny is a huge blessing in itself after the bumpy year with her health. By Christmas, maybe you will be recovered and ready to go again ❤ Love and prayers from Mississippi!
Hi Tipper lovely last videos your gathering of leaves etc for decorating Katie helping with cake, and now todays with the family prep for Thanksgiving everthing looked very delicious, thanks for sharing
I loved this video. I enjoy watching you working together. I love hearing the babies in the background. I totally agree with Matt on his favorite dishes.
Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family! Mustard and vinegar in dressing is a new one for me, but to each his own. I've made homemade cranberry sauce several times, but prefer the canned jellied Ocean Spray brand. A good dish washer, properly loaded, high water temperature, is more sanitary than hand washing. I will never be without one.
Oh Tipper and Corey! Dry chapped hands have plagued me every winter since childhood, especially here in New England. Gloves are essential dishwashing for me too. But what really dries them out are wrapping Christmas presents. Every paper, even tissue paper dries them out so bad that makes even tying the ribbons painful. If I planned ahead, I’d wrap every present in summertime! I have tried every salve and the only one that helps is O’Keefe’s Working Hands (Amazon has it). I have a tube in every room in the winter. Your Thanksgiving is so beautiful, Tipper. Thank you for all you teach us here❤Nini
Oh Tipper what a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration! All of food looked delicious and how wonderful that you all had a house full of family. What a blessing. Thank you for bringing us along. I think you have inspired to try and make the rolls. I haven’t ever made any kind of bread. For some reason I always feel a little intimidated with the process.
My Aunt Fanny swore by Corn Huskers Lotion for her hands. It’s old fashioned but she said the old fashioned things are best. My Uncle used Bag Balm in the green square can, another old timey cream that works really well, too. My Mom used it on our heels in summer because we never wore shoes. You might try these.

Stuffing is never dry at our house. We just drown it in gravy. Gravy is a beverage at our house. 😂
😊
Funny but so true.
Yep. Gravy is a beverage in our house, too.
😂😂
Bwahahahaha yes! I'm not admitting to maybe eating gravy like it was a bowl of soup but, wouldn't that be nice?! 😂
What a blessing that Granny was feeling strong enough to share in the meal and visit with the family. ❤
It was really nice 😊

It was always my favorite. I also loved rabbit and quail. Havent had any of that in years!
