Thank you d VOM for these weekly broadcasts. They are so encouraging to me as I live in the West and have not faced this kind of persecution. But I realize it may be coming here to the United States sooner rather than later.

God bless you. I am from Ethiopia and believes of
Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church. The church is not practicing as what the
person (sorry I did not hear his name) is saying. I believe Jesus is my savior.
The problem is not from one side it has complex nature.
There is conflict as it is what protestant reformation face with other
denomination in any part of the world. The problem of persecution at that time
was the communist regime which is their ideology is materialist. Concerning The
‘nature of Jesus’ as a Man and God, it is the strong hold of the church that
Jesus is the Son of God and the son of Mary.
Now it is the Orthodox Church is facing a strong persecution
covered by ethnic conflict and it is difficult for true Christians whether they
are the so called evangelical (to call as one group) and the orthodox. More pressure
is on orthodox who live out of there ethnic village. Churches are burned, believers
are slotted and their homes are burned. There is insurgent of radical Muslim. It
seems politics but we are living at end time, one of the sign of it is to persecute
true Christians for the enemy to kill, stile.

The first story of a martyr that I ever heard outside of the biblical story of Stephen and the stories that were written in the Bible, was of a woman from North Korea. She had previously been a very greedy woman, who would not share rice, even with her family or friends. In the article I read, it said that she would not share rice with her cousins.
Then, she went to China and discovered the love of Christ; it remarked how she thought that it was incredible that Christ would die for her, and she shortly after became Christian, and went back to North Korea to share the gospel with her people there to show them what true love was and to enlighten them of the living Hope. One of the ways that she showed her transformation was by sharing food, and by sharing and giving of her possessions and of everything she had to strangers, family, and friends,, which caused them to wonder, and therefore be told of her transformation by and in Christ.
Eventually, someone informed on her, and she was arrested by the secret police. Yet, this did not disturb her. Even in interrogation, her peace was not Broken; even in moments of danger and duress, her calm was not dampened. The interrogator became so angry because she was not afraid of him, nor did she have any fear of him or what would happen to her there, that he put her in a cage, where the rats began to eat her flesh, and the other prisoners had to take care of her. Eventually, she died in prison, But her peace had never faded or wavered or left, nor was the work of Christ done. In fact, one of the security agents ended up defecting and converted to Christianity.
The story made a deep impression on me, long before I started watching voice of the martyrs. It was then that I understood that the peace of Christ is unsurpassed, and that nothing could ever Trump or overwhelm or trample. It truly because God is with those he has chosen, and especially with those he has persecuted and with those everywhere in the world.
I don’t know how to attach the article, but I think you could search something like greedy N. K. Woman goes to China, finds Christ.

When he talked about them using a version of the Bible that is in an ancient language, it reminded me of how it was in the Catholic Church before the reformation when people couldn’t understand what was being said, because they weren’t allowed to understand what the priest was saying. That is totally, and completely against what God wants; He wants people to read the Bible, and he wants people to understand what they’re reading so that their devotion to Him and their understanding of Him can increase. Search teachings are against God and only serve to increase the power of the church, which is the goal of such false teachers, and priests. They want to hold onto their teachings, their understanding, and their power, yet we are called to spread the gospel, and not to hold onto it greedily like it’s ours alone to have.

The Catholics believe in mediators, too. I can’t imagine that it’s very easy to be one or to be a part of a denomination that believes that you need a mediator. It must be very difficult to worship God in such a situation and in such settings.

3:25, brother, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has its problems, but I'm sure that they believe in justifying grace as Protestants do.

all organized state-controlled religions, christian/muslim are not true servants of Jesus Christ. They want to build a kingdom in this world, but Christ tells us that his kingdom is not of this world, and that this world will pass away destroyed. Let them repent for not genuinely representing Christ!

I didn’t know that Ethiopia had a problem with orthodoxy, or the orthodox branch of the Christian faith. I knew that they were a mostly Christian country, but I didn’t realize that their version of Christianity, at least the official and seemingly more powerful one, at least in the Earthly sense, was so misbranded and twisted and ill-informed. It’s crazy and mind-boggling to me that there are countries where the Bible isn’t even translated. I hear about it all the time, or at least a lot, especially watching voice of the martyrs, but where I come from, given where I come from, it’s just insane that that’s still a problem around the world.
It also makes sense. Why people would be so surprised that someone would die for Christ because if they don’t believe in Christ, death is the end for them. What seems so simple, like going to a mosque, isn’t symbol, if you’re a Christian. Yet, just as it is true in every situation, the word and ministry of Christ still continues and is in fact bolstered by such events, because people realize why someone was martyred for Christ and why they died for Christ, just as Christ died for them.
I pray that more people will come to realize that Christ died for them, as well, and they should be saved, that they don’t have to live in their sins anymore, because Christ died for those sins, that atonement was already made, and that they will receive versions of the Bible in their language that they can understand so that they can receive the faith. In addition, that they would take it home and study it, and thereby through God, ensure their families and the church would continue to expand, which is the word of Christ. The work of Christ is so important, the most important, that it will be done. And will continue on a forward and upright course and not go into stagnation. I pray for the comfort of the families of those who were martyred, that they would be given peace and understanding, and their faith would be unwavering and that they would continue the work of preaching, and being in churches and planting churches, for the glory, and their love of Jesus Christ.

This is true what the man says. Martin Luther started questioning paguitary, which is not Biblical, and started his own church based on the Bible principles rather than the Roman Catholic

It is sad to hear this guy saying the Orthodoxes executed protestants in Ethiopia. Besides to that he gave a false picture of Orthodox Christian in Ethiopia. You don't know Ethiopian Orthodox christianity at all. By the time of Derg all religions were forbidden, including Orthodox christianity. So it was difficult to teach openly. But in the last regime, there was comparatively huge freedom of religion. As the result my generation was lucky to know Jesus more. I myself as an Orthodox I have no problem with protestants. I listen to protestant songs( i consider it as the sound praising my God). Many times I have attended protestant worship Programs. But I got no reason to change denomination. Just like you & you, I am fighting with the challenges of this world & my own flesh. Which is my biggest concern. I believe we both worship one almighty God. Thus we don't need to argue on the basics. We need to grow. I am not happy with people like you who tell halve truth for the sake of money, for the sake of better life or lack of knowledge. If you are really concerned of saving other souls why don't you go and convert Muslims? They don't believe what I & you believe? You know what will follow you. The genocide of Orthodox christians in the country is active since 3 years back. But except some true protestant christians like one of my all time favorite singer DerejeKebede, others were not condemening the act of the Islamic extremist govt of Ethiopia. But now it has started in protestant churches too. They want to destroy both of us. Because we have our common denominator Jesus Christ.

I don't know much about the Orthodox church, and I'm not from Ethiopia. Is the brother correct in say ing that the church teaches that Jesus is only God and not man also? Do you have access to the Bible? Is it true that man needs another human to mediate on his behalf before God, such as Mary, Paul etc? These teachings are erroneous, and are not found in the bible. Read 1 John 4: 2,3....this is foundational to the Christian faith. The disciples watched in amazement when Jesus ascended to heaven in bodily form. Thomas because he believed that Jesus was not bodily resurrected was told by Jesus to stick his finger into His side. Then Thomas proclaimed "My Lord and my God." Jesus ate with His disciples after His resurrection. However, He had a glorified body that allowed Him to enter through closed door, the same body believers will have on the day of resurrection. Also look at 1 Timothy 2:5,6. As followers of Jesus we have a responsibility to share the truth with those who are walking in error.
