sm58 and sm57 have the same capsule, and the SM57 with the pop filter made for it can be processed to be indistinguishable to most listeners. Julian Krause made a video where he did and compared the two frequency responses, and it is mind blowing how close he got it. The SM57 is the best budget option that comes closest to replicating the sound of the sm7b, the SM58 is just behind it though!
Excellent unboxing, I just bought the same one on Amazon US but I have doubts about its authenticity. Could you share an image of the side label of the box? And I would like to know if yours has a kind of QR code inside the connector and on the retaining clip and if it came with the thread adapter inside the bag. greetings from Mexico
Hey Leo great video. I really want this but I have a Sony ZV1 and don’t know what other equipment I need to use my camera to film and this mic? Please can you advise ?
Hey, happy to help but it’s a broad question which can go many ways… did you want to consider something more long term? Just temporary to get you started? Budget? Do you only have ZV1 now? What level of audio are you looking to achieve? XLR mics you will need an interface, so if you were to get the Shure SM58, the cost doesn’t stop there. So you might be better off with a USB mic or Rode Shotgun NT-USB… let me know how much you are willing to spend and what the ultimate end goal is to reach? I am an advocate of buying nice rather than buying twice… but with audio, there are many many many options! So I’m sure we can find something that fits your needs… I haven’t tried them all, but can advise you based off what I have tried
Oh! lol - I was ashamed because at the time of recording this video, I recently purchased a fairly long list of mics which included the SM58 already and I was ashamed because I thought this one just because it’s the black one lol… nothing to do with the mic, more so my life choices of buying things I don’t need… I’m no audiophile and i only need one good mic, yet I have many! I shall be selling a few of them off soon… but not this SM58, I will be keeping this one lol
@@Apollo.308 lol - so you feel the struggle to then! lol - I just also bought an RE320 earlier in the week… found a good used one… I also just lost out on an RE27 Auction, that’s probably a blessing in disguise to be fair
I didn't even know this existed!
Now I'm thinking about buying it too...
lol! Im glad im not the only one swayed by a “special edition” lol
limited edition, released on August 1
That black one is gorgeous.
Yep! I couldn’t resist! Such a pointless purchase for me though lol

I will have to check this video out… but I worry it might make me want to buy an SM57 for no reason also lol…

Thank you! I was wondering if buy or not, just because it is black. So I will be ending doing the same as you! :D
lol! Awesome! Sorry if I was feeding your Gear Acquisition Syndrome lol
I customised my sm58 to be white with a gold head
Nice! I hope Shure don’t release an official white one, otherwise I’d end up buying that also for no reason at all :S
_Is it_ white and gold though, or blue and black? #thedress
Hi what country of manufacture?
Made in China
中国产的吗?
That’s a poor attitude brother. You got an affordable gold standard right there.
Not sure what you mean with regards to my attitude?
@@leo_hoang I am proud to own an iconic sm58 microphone. You said you were ashamed to have purchased it.

@@leo_hoang oh I see. I am waiting on my black sm58 to arrive! lol. I keep telling myself it’s my last mic purchase.
