🚓 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline ('50 or '51) - Dominic Toretto / Vin Diesel
The Chevy is modified with a Turbonetics marine forced induction system, a makeshift NOS system, and is bolted up to a transmission out of a tractor with 4 forward gears and 4 reverse gears - a key ingredient to driving 100-plus mph backwards. To make it race-ready, the Fleetline is stripped of anything not needed to reduce weight. Around 10 of these cars were built for this movie - only 3 survived. Normally boat turbo on this car produces around 5 pounds of boost. But when the wastegate line is pulled off, it puts the turbo on a full boost (around 30 pounds) as seen in the movie.

Not much is known about this car except that it should be the fastest car on the island - painted black with racing seats and fitted with a roll cage. When it went to the auction the motor and transmission were removed and used on another car for this movie. It tells that it could been a nice crate engine. Originally this car had an inline 6-cylinder 223.0 cu in engine with 145 BHP @ 4200 RPM
PLOT
Dominic "Dom" Toretto and Letty Ortiz are on their honeymoon in Havana when Dom's cousin Fernando gets in trouble owing money to local racer Raldo. Sensing Raldo is a loan shark, Dom challenges Raldo to a race, pitting Fernando's 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline against Raldo's 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, and wagering his own 1961 Chevrolet Impala. After narrowly winning the race, Dom allows Raldo to keep his car, saying his respect is enough.

Raldo's car is actual a 1956 Ford Customline. Some of them came from the factor with the Ford Thunderbird Y-Block

3:01 is actually true to what would happen if someone pulled their wastegate line for their turbo to go at max boost
Even if that was the case, it will only make the car go fractionally faster, as there needs to be an optimal amount of fuel to mix with the air shoved by the turbo to make more power

I’m suprised we haven’t gotten any older cars like those but overhauled with today’s engines and trans. They did the old car with just a stereo trick when they were trying to re hack god’s eye so they could do the samething in 11 so Dantaie can’t take control of their cars. I can’t wait for a solid trailer about 11 and what other spin offs we can see from this series.

I swear spectators get dumber every movie. They are literally running towards a flaming car heading towards their direction over 100 mph XD.
You know somethin,I dig me some good car movies and I like car chases and I keep trying to get into this F&F franchise but then I see a race between a jalahpi and a classic that are both probably the same year and the first 2 things that pissed me off is he runs to a pile of crates and garbage and a car that has no bumper no grill no front clip, just a radiator out there exposed and it doesn't damage it!
Then he turns on a nitrous bottle and not the exhaust manifold, not the drive pipe, but whole the turbo starts glowing!!!!
A car with no doors no front fenders no hood no front clip no front bumper yet it has a turbo and a nitrous kit on it?

Because USA imposed an embargo and forced other countries (twisted their arm) to do the same to make Cuba starved to death or make them submit to the USA. Cuba did not and still managed to survive with universal healthcare.
