- Many words have been written about how the US takes and ruins British shows but once in a long while, the reverse is true. Here is an episode of the sole series of Days Like These which was ITV's attempt to redo That 70s Show for a British audience. The original script was entitled Sunday, Bloody Sunday but re-titled I Hate Sundays for its British incarnation. Nearly a shot-for-shot remake but with little jiggles here and there; instead of planning to watch Steve Martin host SNL, the gang plans to visit a pub and try to get served. Instead of Lawrence Welk, Grandma watches The Good Life. You get the idea. June Whitefield guest stars as Grandma; that role was played by Marion Ross in the US version
What amazes me the most is the quality of the video, this looks legit from the 70s
I wonder if was intentional
@@tiago2189 Nah this is a VHS recording. Also in the 60s/70s the Brits found some sort of method for sitcoms and stuck with it until tv went digital.
What amuses me about this is that "Dylan" says that Eric Foreman want's an American sitcom family. He has one. That 70s Show is an American sitcom.
Those American accents are so over the top.
Also I don't think that American Sitcoms were even a thing in Britain back in the 70s
They did OK on the American accents obviously not all of us sound the same. But I half expected them to actually do a That 70’s Show cameo lol
@@jgdsgh Actually some of them were. Not a lot but some of them. I don’t remember which ones my mother told me about when she moved over here from Scotland and yes I know it’s not the same country but the same continent. Clearly. She moved here in the early 70s.
To be honest, this is the FUNNIEST episode of the british version. The one episode where they deviated from the American one, and brought some of their own soul into it.
couldn't have called an episode 'bloody sunday' in the uk lol
The America and British 70"s Show are both funny.
What is up with the orange blob thing?
This is a really terrible adaptation, yet still fun to watch. Thanks for the upload!
It’s actually not as bad as people make it seem
The sound on the second half of these is always off.
Juicy Fruit This one has it better off than most
Oh, the mother from AB FAB! Great actress! This episode is one of the funnier ones.
I cringe every time i see/hear that theme song
Being from Luton i actually found this funny, for the novelty, but honestly watching it now it's cringe worthy, just an english rescript of the first season, but as a Luton Town FC fan 8:14 made me laugh pretty damn hard XD
I assumed Luton was fictional. Just like there is no real Point Place, Wisconsin, where the original story was based.
I *wish* Luton was fictional.
The announcer "Days Like These can only get worse."
Anyone know how to contact him? I need lottery numbers.
Flashforward to 2020 and 2021.
I've never found Jackie annoying until I watched this video.
00:03 "Days Like These can only get worse", even the tv station is saying this show sucks
Well done Rosie Marcel
I'm in awe!
This micheal is weird
You know what your problem is? I'm too good looking
Well that American sitcom parody was insulting. It might've been funny if they had brought the American cast members to film it.
Is it me? Or does this Donna looks the same as the original Donna?
Nooooooo The original Donna is way prettier than this Donna .
Fun Fact, "This Donna" still acts on British TV and is quite a regular appearance. She plays, "Jac Naylor", a main character on the British Soaps, "Casualty" & "Holby City"
It’s just you
This was a bit of a turnaround. We Americans have been borrowing from the UK sitcoms for decades.
Is that the size of a real table????
Never heard of it😨
So this happened
The worst thing about this version is the foreign guy. Fez was way better than this character. His background and nationality is murky. Guy on this show clearly Swedish.
To be honest? When Dylan said Eric wants the American family thing? I expected them to do is that 70s show cameo lol. Smack the like button if you expected that also.
I don't know what's worst this or that 80sshow both were crap
Where's the rest of the episodes ?
Only 10 of the 13 aired and only 8 of them are available!
@@FredJensen4745 how come only 8 are available then where's the other 2 ? Lol
@@ChemicalCorpse91 whoever had their vcr set to record the show probably didn’t account for the show being moved to a different time so they weren’t recorded!
@FredJensen4745 Damn what's unfortunate man ! So basically the last 2 episodes got lost in time because of that vcr haha
@@ChemicalCorpse91 that’s just my assumption…
Well, it’s not that bad
Makes That 70s show look like friends.
Other way around. T70S is 50x better than friends
So was a kick in the teeth.
I'm just amazed that they could find an actor worse than Ashton Kutcher!
Ashton was easily the most hilarious character in that entire series, fucktard
@@testicularchin-slapper9686 I agree !
BURN!
*cringe*
fucking hell. Terrible
