Like, we lost it all in the blinding lights in the official video! 😫 The boys did so amazing either way! They were definitely noticed by the locals in these parts!! yes! This. It got so blown out by the lights. I didn't realize until the fan cams that they did a whole ripple from front to back with the choreography that ended with that insane lift.

Yes! There aren't many fan cams out there but they give a lot of interesting detail. And at least one has fewer strobes. :)

The camera work on VMAs was better than in: MAMA2022, AAA2022, GDA2023 and all this Korean award shows. They barely show us crowds, only SKZ and dancers☺

@@sara13.88 I just don’t think I was a fan of some of the angles, like the Birds Eye view during the best parts of the choreo messed with my head. And they missed innies resurrection section which was incredible

The arrangement for this performance was killer. The orchestral elements, the lights, the camerawork, choreo (especially Chan sliding across in front of changbin and I.N.s lift)!!! This was epic!

I need more people to appreciate this remix. What a homage to the hip hop celebration that vmas did. This performance was top tier and pulled many new fans. Nothing was off besides camerawork.
this performance was fantastic, totally stayed true to their usual talents, regular sound and their ability to remix their own songs while still staying true to the song they were nominated for. the camera work, however, was absolutely horrifying and they missed so much of their performance - it was ridiculous. they flipped jeongin like a pancake right dead center at the end of the dance break and still somehow missed it like ??? how.
My twitter timeline was full of new baby stays BEFORE they even performed! Based solely on Chan and Felix talking in the interviews and the VMA win! I'm so glad they won the award BEFORE they performed. They really showed everyone why they won it! Then after the performance omg! I'm seeing nothing but new baby stays on twitter going down the rabbit hole! We love to see it!
Also Skz remixes ALL of their hit songs when they perform them on shows like this! And it's NEVER the same remix either! They are actually insane!

Tbh I was really surprised at the quality of the camera shots from this performance bc american award shows usually have such jumpy cuts & show too many crowd shots but this one had better, more steady shots + mostly good angles (still could be improved A LOT tho)

They remixed Binnie part probably bc the VMAs were paying homage to 50 yrs of Hip hop. I’m glad they performed in Korean and didn’t westernized themselves. They did amazing🙌🏾❤️
It was awesome to watch them perform live with this; they just tore up that stage. The dancers deserve praise also watched a short of them practicing this song they worked really hard on it. The re mix of this song was spot on.
I think because it was their first time at the VMAs and because this was their first real huge American awards show they attended, they were considered small fry until they performed and won an award the first time they get invited. If you watch their interviews you can tell they’re a bit nervous and overwhelmed. I think they’ll have more say next time around.

I loved this remix. Camerawork was not the best imo.
The long video view was made for tik toc view. Genius really. I feel that you can definitely see how American production lacks after seeing Kpop production. Stray Kids definitely showed out on this.

I mean for a US show this was probably the best camerawork I've seen. They got to choreograph some parts of it and actually had it on whose part it was most of the time haha. Also the show was "shot on iphone 15 pro" or whatever so 3:00 was basically product placement

There was a still fancam and it looked way better than whatever mtv was trying to do. Also, I'm really proud of them because two days before this they had a concert in japan and had only one day to rehearse for the stage, some of the members were also injured and sick but they still managed to kill it 🎉

Yo - I didn't connect that at all! You're completely right; the WHOLE show was weird. There were presenters, but there wasn't a host, so the acts and awards were just kind of one after the other and the presenter speeches were SO SO bad. One girl literally said "Hey guys! OMG, look at my a**!!" as she turned around and showed the butt cheek cut outs on her dress - right in front of Shakira's little boys. After Stray Kids performed, they just cut to the next award. Everyone was half naked. There was no organization, mood, or flow to the show - and no theme. They just squashed Latin music and Hip Hop exhibitions together with some K-Pop thrown in ... so weird.
@@EFX5452 and if you noticed, the performances that felt the most professional were the KPop groups because they imported their talent. But they were having to use older gen equipment they weren't familiar with
The guys change it up a bit or a lot depending on the show all the time. It’s not a surprise for them to do that (as do most other artists) so I don’t understand the confusion. I enjoyed the slightly more dramatic production and performance. I was super proud. ❤
I think it felt strange for you seeing them in that setting because they didn't perform something more western-accepted or usual to the ear if that makes sense, watching them in an amercan show performing a song that is ALREADY different for kpop, in my opinion is the best decision they could've made because they were there nominated with this song and it perfectly showcases skz colors and we all know how skz don't give a shit about what's trendy or to accommodate to certain audiences just to be popular, they will stick to their colors and do their thing and they proved why they deserve to win.

It's imprecise saying that they don't care about trendy things because all their title tracks since God's menu have a specific structure for going viral, but we can say they are really smart to understand that doing their songs in their style fits the most with their image as group and they are the best at doing it. Groups should do what is better for them and that's what Skz did. We don't even know if they had a poppish song and if they had, they maybe haven't this song ready to be released.
They had to perform this one since it’s the one they were nominated for.

Definitely the camerawork. I think the Korean networks are used to filming their groups and focusing on certain parts of the choreo and song. They even have fan cams where it focuses on one idol for the whole song.
taylor swift was absolutely vibing too, and her jaw literally dropped when chan started singing - this has been such a huge opportunity for them (+ felix was trending on twitter again fro being the 'cute blonde' haha)
i think their energy was fn on point!!! the lil hip hop inserts and the overboard stage effects!!!! sploosh...lol but the camera man acted like he was having mild seizures 😅

Stray Kids always go above and beyond for award shows in Korea so I'm glad they brought that to the US. The other groups that have performed have always played it safe when it comes to remixing and strage production, especially when compared to what those same geoups do for award shows in Korea. I think this felt like stray kdis brought the MAMAs to the VMAs
I think it's the camera work too. In S.Korea, they put more effort into syncing it with the music.

I think you are correct Sebastine. Can't my finger on it but it was different feel to their VMA performance. The guys did great loved the performance and I know they changed it up. But feel or think it was due to be preforming in front of so many named big celebrities and piers in the entertainment business. Felix did say he was nervous preforming in front of Taylor Swift and others but was relieved when he say Taylor seemed to be enjoying their performance. They preformed after other acts. I am sure they were worrying about how well their own performance will be perceived. But despite it they still pulled of the performance beautifully, like the professionals they are. I know one thing after watching the full VMA awards is thank god Stray Kids had clothes on. I have never seen so much skin at an awards show. I am all about leaving a little to the imagination but some of these celebrities dresses left very little for the imagination. I probably wont recognize any of them if I passed them on the streets and they had clothes on. There was so much gyration and bump and grinding on the stage and skin that I didn't even get to pay attention to the actual songs. haha Stray Kids looked amazing in their fits and very proud for them for their award and all the other k-pop nominees and winners. Loved the Warning Shares rock performance, along with Shakira's performance was so amazing and Demi Lovato performance kicked ass. But my favorites was Stray Kids and Txt feat Anita. Txt' new song is good and catch but it repeated the same lines to many times for me. I still will add it to my playlist because I also love TXT.
MTV has the only American performances with K-pop worthy camera work that u have seen so far. Everywhere else can barely get the mics right let alone camera work. This coming from an American btw
They definitely changed up the song and the moves, but it was fantastic!! The awards shows are never going to have all the hype that their concerts do, but i think they gained some more attraction and new baby stays ❤

I think it felt weird because it’s not our usual camera work we are used to when they perform. Maybe not sure but something was off for me too but not in a bad way.
Camera work will always be ass at shows but it dont matter cause those who were there experienced what they needed to see LIVE!! As they said themselves alot of celebrities were congratulating them after the performance...also so many locals have influxed from this performance alone and its the 2nd most watched performance after Shakira🤷🏽♀️...crowd reactions were amazing as I've seenfrom fancams!!! And this is an s class vma remix...SKZ always do remixes for live shows nothing new...and the Changbin hip hop part payed homage to the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop which was honored at the vmas...I mean, like its going viral!!! They sang in Korean just like others sang in Spanish and Portuguese that night, so......but yeah SKZ killed it....always being different unique and authentic
The backing tracks were too loud and the camera editing was awful. Whoever was calling the cuts in the room…just no.
They still killed it, but it was unsurprisingly disappointing on MTVs part. It’s really not like it was in the late 90s/early 00s.

The performance was amazing, but I missed some camera affects too😢 Just 2 parts was filmed really cool- the Chang bin part and choreo break in the end, the rest was missed. But anyway Stray Kids was on top and did great job.

Some of the SKZ members (specifically, Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin) were in a car accident today (Wed Sept 20), but other than bumps and bruises, are OK.
JYPE issued a statement saying their performance schedule will be changed a little for upcoming events - the group as a whole pulled out of the Global Citizen Festival, but 3Racha (who were not in the car that had the accident) will still perform there.
I'm just glad it wasn't more serious. Whew.

I felt like their performance was very toned down except for the dance break and I.N being ressurected at the back. I don't think the were allowed to go their usual "god mode" at the VMA's
maybe they had like a time limit in which they couldnt make those epic remixes of songs they used to which would make the godly effect and also if im not mistaken this was the first time showing s-class on US tv so they had to stay more true to the original but yeah the epic dance break was pulling through!!
@@leldelaugale7195 if you compare it to their dance practice videos you can clearly see a difference in movement, maybe it was so that the dance break at the end would have more impact but their gesture were way more toned down. Or the effects of jetlag were taken into account when finalising the choreography. I'm not implying it was a poor performance but it's interesting to see the difference

How frustrating was the camera work! I'm over it now and just love that they did such a great performance! Think the camera work needs to catch up to the kpop scene lol That’s not meant to be mean to anyone who was doing that job it's just a different scene and if you're not used to it it's surely going to catch you off guard

Hey Sebastine 🤗 Yes ever since ive started watching korean live performances i now just dont like watching american ones the wlcamera works make me dizzy...they switch waaaay to often and dont focus on the right killing parts and like pan out at the worst angles..
It feels different cause of the camera angles…..we are so use to Mnet, and comeback stages over in Korea that seeing them over at the states feels off

To me it Felt like I was watchjng some kind of movie. Sort of like what I was watching wasn’t real but was some sort of scene for a tv show? Idk how to explain it. I think it must be because of the different camera angles than you see in korean broadcast and the way things are shot in usa that It seemed like I was watching an alternate reality.

It probably fault different because of the camera work, it was really inconsistent like some angles was great but then some was not great at all like when Han’s rap part came on and you barely could see him was really bad but everything besides that was really good
