Atores fabulosos!

    This will never be bettered.
Sometimes in art everything lines up at the right time, to produce a work that will stand alone.
    This production surely is that.
I've watched it ten times, and it gets better on every viewing.
    A masterpiece.

Beckett repeatedly, sometimes with great frustration, denied that there was much of an agenda or deeper meaning in Waiting for Godot. Some people have interpreted it as an allegory of the Cold War, others the German occupation of France, still others have read into it some psychological meanings. I think that it is intended to be absurdist, without much deeper meaning, and that it should be understood that way.I think that actually one of the fascinating aspects about this play is the very bleak and rather disturbing view of the world that is presented to us in Beckett's absurdist creation. Life is condensed down into absolutely nothing and only the friendship between Vladimir and Estragon is able to stave off temporarily the loneliness of such a barren existence.

panda todd I had to write a paper on the book and this idea came to my head. What if there actually is no meaning? But then I thought that even if it does not have a meaning and is literally a random absurd play, it still shows something about human nature and how we constantly try to give meaning to something where there is none.

Rabinovitz (1977) and Velissariou (1982) explain that today's emphasis in the academic studies on Beckett's work is focused on showing how the play reveals the limits of modernity and the overall loss of power. Rabinovitz focuses on exposing how modern objects are lost to the fact that time and space are not as absolute as it was thought. Velissariou shows how the language in Waiting for Godot reveals the fragmentation of modern language after the complete "absence of absolutes". Salatino (2001) exposes how the work reveals the helplessness of postmodern man, showing the "naked" human condition as it is and as it has always been. Campos focuses on showing how the book describes key elements of the postmodern era such as discontinuity, fragmentation, contradiction, the permutation, the loss of timeliness, the loss of meaning and the loss of totality.

Played Estragon many years ago. This is a very good interpretation, by playing it realistically it heightens the absurdity of existence and our attempts to make some sense of it. Some have played it like music hall comedians doing a series of set piece routines over and over again. I was rubbish as Estragon

I know it's not supposed to mean anything, but my interpretation of the story is that they are in A: Limbo, or B: a parallel plane of existence. Either way their minds are obviously from our world only they are not tied to any sort of logical motivation. The only instincts they reflect are simple ones like waiting or going. They are perfect manifestations of human character and reason in its most absolute and purest form. Also I like to think that the entire world is the barren wasteland shown here and that the only beings in existence are them. It is interesting to me because of the fact that they do not seem to realize the pointless reality they manifest, yet they continue to think, dream, and long. I find this work to be utter brilliance mainly because of the fact that the author casted plot and intention under quality of character, dialogue, and tone.
