Your mindset is just like mine. “I didn’t die, I didn’t hurt the bike etc”😂😂
Really fun to watch, I entered my first race at 47. Im 61 now, haven't been racing because of where I live but watching newer riders makes me want to get out there and have fun racing again.
vet rider here.... when I was 19 I took my then girlfriend (now wife 35 years later) to a local race. She said "why are the gates pointed backwards? " {me} To keep people from getting a jump. (Her) Is that a problem? (Me) Not as long as you don't try to go too soon! You guessed it...... I nailed it and sunk my rear tire about 8 inches deep in soft sand. Had to dismount the bike, dislodge it, and then go around. Needless to say it was a humbling and embarrassing move while trying to impress a lady. Good news is I am now 55 and still race to this day and haven't made that particular mistake since. Made lots of new ones though lol. Keep up the good work and see you at the races! Ride Red! (#5) #Hondaofsouthga , #bossmx,
Dude, this was just awesome. Great attitude. Racing for the first time is freaking terrifying. I ran my first race at 42 and it was the Mammoth summer race in California. Hair raising to say the least. So, i feel you.And you were hitting a lot of those big obstacles which is amazing. Really great riding. Nice pass at the end! Great job. Keep it up!
If anyone wants to learn about Jesus Christ reply
nice job, im 30 and just getting into mx myself so its enjoyable seeing you give it your best at 34. keep up the good work man!
From philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭love trail and motorcross racing
The little tap on the bar on your way to the trailer, that was pure joy! Thats why we do this!
Man I don’t even know you but I’m proud of you. You look like you can be top 3 anytime. Stay humble
Congrats. At least you didn’t flip over the gate
This is awesome man. Just made my way back into moto at 32 y.o. after 20 years off. This gives me some inspiration.
Hey Ryan my name is Riley and I'm a beginner too. When it comes to starts, my instructor taught me that my balls should be touching the gas cap to help keep the front end down. A problem you see often is riders sitting not as far up as they should. Second gear pinned at the gate and just let her rip. Also when I pick a gate, I'll walk a step and half back and I'll put my front tire there. It looks weird when you are lined up but it's helped me a lot from dumping the clutch to early and prevents me front hitting the gate back up. I hope this helped. Keep up the great work your videos rock!
Remember failure is a lesson. You cain’t learn if you don’t try
You came out on top regardless!!! Go get em !!
I’m 36. Still not too late!!! Watch some old races of how Bubba Stewart (fastest mxer of all time) takes the corners!
Man I’m 26 and was scared it was too late for me 👌🏾🔥🔥glade to see it’s never too late
Man, I’m 51 and just started riding again. Watching this video was awesome
I've never ran in to a start gate in 40 years of racing. Great 1st race overall and great attitude. Cheers!
I enjoyed the video. I used to race back in 1979 as a kid. The bug bit me a few years back to try to race again, but at 55 felt I better give up that dream. I hit the ground playing catch with my youngest. Even my teeth hurt. Lol Can't imagine crashing on a dirt bike. My brain wouldn't let me be cautious because in my mind I am still 30.
Miss those days actually....2005-2010 every weekend was racing in so cal....brought my 🐕 to every race......Glen Helen once a month.....butterflies every race, great times....injury once a year, wouldnt change a thing......competition is the test.......
you've inspired thousands with this content. May god continue to bless you. Braaaaaap
Found your new channel because i miss your awesome RC content (heck your channel is part of why I got into racing). Best of luck and hope to see some RC videos in 2023
I remember my very first race 1962 after I had 17 years of AMA Pro motocross outdoors national's and supercross and to this day I still ride every single day I can at 64 years old enjoy riding brother and be careful 👍
Glad I found this video. Have never been on a track myself but since I push my kids in motocross they wanted me to start racing too. At 31 I will do my first race.. Love the content man.
Gold Star attitude! I love it. Want to come race hare scrambles? The Florida Trail Riders series is a blast, and filled with guys in their 30s to 60s. Come home base with my crazy family.
I think it was a very good result, congrats ! The most important: you have so much fun !
Very Very good 👍 u have to start to finish 👏 👍 he'll of a job , I live in Florida from January to April I'll say hi in person at the track , I've raced for 50yrs still love it as much as when I started ,best exercise for body and brain have fun stay safe , I raced pro in the 70s in Florida , keep it on 2
Don’t have to watch it completely to give it a thumbs up!!!!
Haha thanks Robert!
Great video. Very entertaining. That was fun to watch. Let’s see more.
Thoroughly enjoyed that.
Never imagined I would see you riding dirtbikes. Racing dirtbikes is even more surprising, but in a good way. Keep rippin dude.
Nice Job and thanks for coming out and giving SSVMX a try.
I won’t make the Orlando stop, but hoping to catch the next series a few times!
Did my first race last October at 45yrs old. Lined up for 4 events now.
Had fun at all the events so far. My first “vintage” race I got a 3rd overall with a 2-3 finish. My second event just a few weeks ago I got a 1-1 finish. My finish at the second event was a direct result of my willingness to jump the jumps vs “rolling” them. So I won by a mile. It was a bit embarrassing and I felt like a sandbagger to be truthful. Plus it was only my second race on that bike with 6 rides on it total before my first race a month previous. One of the event coordinators told me I need to move up a class, maybe 2 due to how badly I beat the competition.
Just like you I explained I had done 4 races total in my life. 2 on my other bike and the 2 vintage races on the one I had at that event. So I’m looking forward to the next one. It will be a haul for me to get there but it’s at the end of July. I hope I do good.
I joined my first MX race @ age 38 and have since been addicted to the same experience you described after your first moto. Good for you!
Awesome! I’m 40 and rode as a teen on an XR 400. Itching to get me and my 8 year old bikes this year. Finding a lot of great places to go with him in your channel. But also I never raced in a track, was all single track stuff in the woods as a kid. Watching this makes it look doable for me to get out there. Love the videos!
As a fellow 34 year old who has his first ever race next week, well done!
First one of your videos I stumbled across. Really nice job taking the first step, getting on the gate, and riding your race.
I haven't been on a dirt bike in 10 years. Just bought a 2022 Kawasaki 250 and went to local track. Oh yeah I'm also almost 38 yrs old. I gotta say not too bad for an old guy. Keep ripping my man. Great video
Dude age has nothing to do with it I'm 52 turning 53 in a few days and I'm still showing the weekend warrior racers wanna be factory riders my ass every weekend when I'm passing them. If you think you're old going going to be old.
Awesome stuff. At your age I can definitely relate!! Hard luck on that second start. Twas pretty funny though.
This is the motivation right here! 🔥
My first race back at 37 years old ( I raced few years on 80s as a kid) was horrendous... guy lost control and absolutely whisky throttled it into me.. him, his bike and my bike all landed on me... broke my ribs... crazy swelling and bruising for weeks and my hip still aint the same...got back riding few weeks later but man I wish I woulda just hung back on the start like you..that was a great 1st race
You look good and go good. You’re doing alright and as long as you’re having fun that’s the main thing.
Excellent ride! Tampa mx is fun.
Nice job dude..that was cool...i did my first race about a week ago & it was thrilling..didn't come in top 5 but i don't care..it was fun..👍😁🔥
Great video and nice first moto! I think I'm going to make it to meet you in Orlando!
Hahaha, nice one. You will get the hang of it. Most important task accomplished (having fun)!
The quality of this video is insane, especially the intro, when you where loading the bike on the car! Great work my guy, I think you'll come far if you just keep posting :D
That was awesome!! I was cheering you on to pass the black bike!!
Good job brother ... your attitude should be contagious! I still hit the gate and stall to this day but like some people in the comments said, you learn from your mistakes . Bad ass video 🤟🏾
Yo, coming in for the first time watching this from your RC content. I don't do motocross, but from a racing perspective I can totally tell your racing style from RC and how you're probing at the folks in front of you, "clean. and consistent." :P
I want to get into motocross now that I have a few dollars I'm 30. Post more this was cool!!
So fun! In that first Moto I loved how composed you were, great job! If you get those starts a little better those boys better watch out! Oh, you didn’t get hurt and no corner marshaling 🤙🏽
Congrats Ryan!! AJ and the Lawrences would be very proud! Honestly I’m not surprised at all. You’ve been training, watching and learning from the best in the world. Good for you buddy. You earned it!!🎉
Sent it on the last lap in that first heat XD
that was awesome
Just come across your channel, loving it mate . Hope your still riding . I’m thinking about getting back into it after seeing this video
Sick video man I look forward to watching more!
GOOD JOB ! GREAT WAY TO HAVE FUN !
Just found you. Just subscribed. Just watched your first race. It was good!! I was cheering you on!! Then 2 moto I said he’s going to smash these guys , and you got hung in the gate!! Perfect!!! You made a come back. Playing catch-up you’ll ride harder. Great job great video. Luke 9:62
I may be going to tampa mx on thur ill let u know lol
That was awesome! Your RC racing experience definitely seems to help you in mx. great job!
Just seen you in my feed. Great video!! Keep it up boss!! My first race was at 47!!
That was fun, Ryan - glad you did well in your first race. I raced many moons ago, and only from 14-19 (should've done it a lot longer). I was 'coaching' you as you were riding, ha ha. Hope to see more. (And get the holeshot next time!).
Heck yeah dude, I'm 37 and just did my first 2 races since 2006. They have an 80 plus class so it's never too late. Good smooth race for your first effort
That was cool! Awesome pass
Next vid Ryan changes gear and takes an inside line, good job dude, you are 100% hooked now
Subscribed. Nice riding! I too ride and your RC stuff is what brought me to your channel. Braaaap
Whoot whoot! Subscriber #200! Congratulations! You did awesome! I'm also 34 and also did my first gate drop this year!! It is so incredibly fun!
Good for you bro! I was 36 my first woods race. I know the feeling brother. Keep working on your techniques and send it. I will be waiting for more gopro action dude 🤘
Man you were cruising out there! Great job on your first race, I wish mine would have gone half as well as yours did!
Just keep having fun. Fine line as a vet rider of being competitive but not riding someone else’s race. We have similar vet racing in California- OTHG. My last bike was an xr250 in the woods and stopped at 16. Fast forward- first race at 52- after riding for about 6 months on local tracks, now 53. It is great fun and really gets you in shape. Too many injuries other riders, including a broken arm on my end. Still doing it , but like I said the trick is to try not to get pushed outside your limits and stay healthy for the next weekend. Stay healthy for our other responsibilities like family, other activities and paying the bills. Trying to view it more as exercise and fun than competition- difficult. Motocross demands a certain amount of time to be safe, sometimes that is a difficult balance. So much fun and really puts you in the present.
Enjoyed your video and keep them coming!
Thank you 🙏 going to try!
Awesome !!! thanks for sharing and keep it going. good luck.
Killer first moto.
Really enjoyed this dude. Great racing on a great track.
holy shit... i was riding tampa at 87...lol... good job man°!
Amigo 🖤 i love your style el hombre. Your production is so uplifting as well. I like the setup & your Honda is so clean man 🏮 i find myself coming back to watch your videos over and over again. :) Love from Spain. I cannot find you on Instagram. I hope you make some more films hombre
Dude awesome race. Amazing looking tracks
Hell yes !!! Awesome video 🤘🏻
Nice work for your first moto mate!
That’s awesome man great work love it your first race the excitement in your face is awesome! I miss riding been about 11 years since I was on a bike and think it’s time to get back on the horse
nice videos keep up the good work cant wait for more
You said riding for a year? You look very comfortable and fast for a year, but track time over a year goes a long way. Awesome vid
He hangs out with the Lawrence Brothers and AJ Catanzaro
Wow, riding well and gaining confidence. Good job.
Can’t believe you only got 2k subs with the video quality you have. I’m looking at making my motorcross debut at 31 this year as well
Very cool video, you did really well your first time congrats 🏆
Loved watching this! Great video!
Love your videos bro! And that’s an awesome first race great job 💪🏽
Awesome ride for first race. You seem to be in good shape which is huge!
Bro that was so sick!!
I know this is old but you ride really well, I like the way you don't use your clutch much interns. If you were to just shift in the third down the straightaways and right before the bigger jumps you'd be clearing them no problem but good job look fun. I didn't start racing until I was about the same age. Ended up riding tell 48 and to many surgerys put and end to it lol. Just remember shift because you hit those jumps on the rev limiter like you are on the bigger ones you're going to go over the bars. I'm jealous keep with it
Nice job Bro , I wish I could do 4 laps. Arm pump after 1 lap was so bad I was just hanging on for dear life. You killed it work on that start and your good to go !!
I got the same issue....
Gotta grip with the knees and don’t death grip the handle bars. But the. Again in the heat of the moment you don’t think about it and jus go all out with taking a breathe lol
It took me 5 practice days before I could do the whole.moto and even then the first 2 where I could only at a very steady pace
Gripping the bike with you're knees and getting you're head forward over the bars is key.
Once you can do the whole Moto for 15 minutes then gradually add speed.
Great video bud keep them coming
Really a good ride for your first time out there. I had the same Idea to let everyone go in my first race. But there was one problem with that. Someone crashed his Honda after a jump, but I didn't know to look for yellow flags to tell me he did. Anyway it didn't end well for me, but the rider got out of the way before I landed on his bike. But good ride.
What a great video. I competed in my first race a month ago second Moto gate got me lol it happens!!!
Definitely good job bud 2nd gear holeshot on that beast plus you've got launch control start practicing with it
I'm only a few months into my journey with riding and drilling on the "Academy program" - - seeing how technically sound you are after just a year is motivating as hell! 👍👍 Great stuff, Keep it up dude!
Great video you did fantastic
Nice video! A common problem for people is having the front wheel to close the the gate because they think it's an advantage. I remember my first time. I would back the bike up a half a foot. A good start depends on a good "jump" from the gate, not how close the front wheel is. Another common problem, even for the pros is when waiting for it to drop the bike slowly creeps forward. If you review your second start, watch the guy on your left, he does exactly that and they could have ran into the same trouble. So my advice is back that bike up! And when you see that gate move at all it's full throttle all the way to the first turn and use your clutch to control keeping that front wheel down. You will pull your first hole shot in no time!
I started racing at exactly 34 also. I did pretty good , had a lot of fun busting my ass. Then I broke my L5, L6. That slowed me up for a bit. I am 57 this July, my broken bones include: both shoulders, both wrists, my right ankle, ribs 3 times, tail bone, and 3 severe concussions. Most injuries were during practice. None racing. I always did pretty good racing. Be safe!
Looked very fast and skilled to me!
Thanks Jody!
Dope! Good job! I’m 30 still have never done a race. I’d like to get more consistent with riding again and try it. I’m in central florida. Tampa is a nice track 👌
Hey man I’m 25 from Ireland looking to break into the racing scene. Awesome video and thanks for sharing 🙏🏽 liked and subbed 🏆
Come to Irish/ ulster championship over here! Great fun!
Hey first of all, congrats on that race, some tips from someone who doesnt is a top racer 😅
Explore more inside ruts, change trajectories, you had some oportunities to change line and just pass someone and you just kept on the same line behind them, that is important to know how to change, when you started to go on the inside ruts you saved so much time.
Practice some starts, starts are the key to get people slower than you behind and to not battle for lower positions but congrats men, it was a very good race.
