Sometimes being nice gets to the point where you start to resent others. Setting boundaries is very important. Don't be so nice that people start to take advantage of your kindness and use your good nature against you.
I appreciate this so much! I have been a pushover for 26 years amd I can't take it anymore. I'm becoming an asshole. I want to be a good person again without anymore anger and depression.
I’m 14 and I’m trying to look at life a bit more differently. I really need to start working on myself and setting boundaries, I can’t let others use me for their entertainment in a negative way. This video helped me and I thank you for it!
What am I going to implement first? Getting aware about what I want (what I don't want is pretty clear) and how to get there. Not feeling guilty about making myself a priority and asking for what I want. Trying not to explain myself, a hard one! It is all important what you said and I do already stand up for myself it is just that the environment these days (even I moved to another country and people are way more pleasant here) do not seem to understand or support that much standing up for yourself maybe because they are afraid to do it themselves or lack of self awareness and confidence. Lots of underdogs out there! And the overdogs like the narcs, it is them that scare me the most because they are so agressive and I am too gentle over all. They are sneaky in their manipulations and letting you feel guilty for normal behaviour. Work in progress.. thank you so much for your contribution to empower others!
I am such a people pleaser which also creates a lot of issues for posting on social media and creating content! Also, I love journaling! I haven't been great at it this year yet I have filled 4 leather journals already!
These are excellent tips!!! I’m not exactly your target audience - I would consider myself mostly an extrovert, and I’m an actor/writer/singer/talk show host - I literally talk for a living! But this video in particular really resonated with me... I’m so glad I watched it! What a gift you’re giving to people in helping us all to communicate better and take better care of each other and ourselves!!!!
Fantastic video. I've been doing all of this for a while now, but it is always nice to consolidate the knowledge. And I am quite pleased with myself after seeing this, because I can see, that I've come a long way.
Remember, too, that if you are confronting an abuser: you should *never* have to be perfect to be respected as a human being! "I statements" work with those who are willing and able to listen. If you are setting a boundary and the other person has a pattern of trying to justify their refusal with personal attacks, the best thing to do is remove yourself from the situation if you can.

5:03 I tried to use some I statements instead of you when I got confrontational with someone at my job. But they kept responding with "I'm sorry YOU feel that way" it made me angry because I felt like I made my effort to not say "You" to them but it just goes over their head

What's holding you back from being more assertive?
Great video, Myke. People pleasing and codependence are real issues that many go through. It's really important to stand up for yourself.

Sounds like you need to re-evaluate your relationships.
Some people are just toxic and they'll make your life more difficult.
Narcissistic say that …they can’t accept their wrong doing
Hi friend
Hello to you as well!
Where’s the bell ?
Standing up for yourself against teachers

How do I send this to my girlfriend without sending it to my girlfriend
That's a tricky one!
If you don't mind me asking, how's your relationship with her lately?
@@SocialConfidenceMastery difficult but still working through it. communication is tricky because of distance too
@@johnnydoe2672you're in a long-distance relationship I'm assuming?
