as a person that doesn't go to an american school, but goes to an european one it is really interesting seeing the differences between schools around the world. it's so funny how almost all of us have fantasies of different types of schools in different countries because of media, but in reality its really different than that. 😭
As an American, I can confirm that what Queenie is saying is a largely accurate generalization. Though something to note is that American schools are VERY segregated by race and economic class.
I've been to predominantly white schools, in a middle class neighborhoods that were well funded, had many clubs and sports teams. And I've been to predominantly black and hispanic schools, in low income neighborhoods that couldn't fund a club for longer than a month and had old textbooks. The history of American schools is a dark story of racism and classism, look up redlining and racial wealth inequality.
American schools also vary by whether they are public or private or charter. This topic is very nuanced but the gist is that money and race controls everything.
Idk if that's true for all Diversed areas. neighborhood which ranged from middle class to poor. my old high school was very diversed with majority being mexican. Still Our school had plenty new clubs opening by year and we were able to keep our school laptops after graduation. So i dont think race controlled it here but i can see how it would it probably other cities and states.
Same I moved a lot and for sure I’ve been to rich schools and poor school. It really impacts how things are run. But overall they similarities that queenie was describing.
The school I went to was predominantly in the middle of everything, poor, middle and high class. seeing how there are almost over 3000 students most being Hispanic, black, and Filipino, you can expect some type of controversy in every corner. it's fun getting to know people especially in multi ratio schools , it's something to look forward to ; new people and different cultures.
yes, American schools arnt the best, but history can speak for that. it's best to look at the bright side and maybe hope for the best changes at hand.
My school was diverse we had blacks and Mexicans we had like three Asian and white ppl tho you are right cause there were a lot of colorist schools that were mainly white in my area but most of the big schools were diverse

Definitely not in reality. Most American schools are honestly awful. Even American student say so.

And I’d say out of the 3 Korea is the what when it comes to activities you wouldn’t see anywhere else. UK would come second they makes America look bad. American schools are often ghetto unclean and disgusting. Teacher are awful education is terrible let’s be honest okay

I'm sorry but i'm confused by the logic. When an asian guy says he likes pale skin, he's still talking about other asian girls NOT white girls. So how is letting them know they aren't the preferred choices for both asian AND black men going to make them...feel better?

america is so big it’s hard to even say “american schools do this” because it’s so different from place to place. all through my years of school i’ve never had to pay for school lunch just because of the type of school i went to so it’s funny even how different it can be in the same country
Yeah I was about to say this as well like at my school we didn’t have to pay but the school a couple of streets down did
Same we didn't pay for food just grab and go. We did in fact we had a student store that sold additional foods then the regular free menu like chips,cookies, sodas,ect. We used our id to pay or just cash. It would be pack every friday because thats when the sold froyo cones. Now that i graduated I just miss the warm gooey chocolate chip cookies 🥺
I agree, the united States is so big you can treat each state as a separate country if you wanted too. South Korea is half the size of Florida, that's something to ponder on.

It’s nice to see the difference between the school’s, for me here in English high school I accidentally walked into a school changing room where 2 students where doing the deed, I apologised and walked off, i can confirm this has happened multiple time’s in my high school.

Hectic workload is an every school almost even in America. It’s pretty bad, but it really depends on what school you go to for Korea.

Wow I live in France and I lived in Congo ( African country ) before and it was great to see how it goes in Korean and American high schools.
The school lunch one is kinda true. If your parents make under I think 40k a year you’re provided free lunch but if not they expect you to pay. One time my mom filled my form out wrong and I owed the school -$356 ish at the end of the year 😭

I remember seeing couples making out in high school and this was in the early 80’s, it didn’t seem weird to me I was like wow that’s cool I’m gonna have fun here lol. School lunch was free and way better then the lunches they have now, rarely any fights.

Actually bullying in Korea is much worse, in most cases it’s literally attempted murder but the perpetrators always get away with it because of the laws in Korea.

Yeah American schools can be very wild or very similar to Korean schools depending on where you go but American high schools are known for a lot sex going on and stuff lol but we also suffer from hard beauty standards and “types”.

I live somewhere where dark skin is glorified and light skinned people feel insecure however this belief is certainly not the majority held in the world. The skin you naturally have is your best skin

They’re both ethnically half korean, and they live in Korea. Girl on the left doesn’t speak english, not sure about girl on right but she seems to speak it pretty natively.
jenny was born n raised in korea her whole life n queenie ( light hair ) was born in korea but lived in the us for quite a few years before moving back so her english is fluent

I brought my lunch to school and never bought it. One time I dropped half of my lunch on the floor and a teacher forced me to go get a sandwich from the lunch line for free. They definitely want you to eat
