My files are textured (not completely flat & smooth) so the thing keeps falling off. I think a lot of others in the comment might also have textured tiles. Anyway thank you for your instruction! I shall find use for them some other ways otherwise will probably just return them.
Hi there W S, thanks for watching and sending me your comment. You are right, tiles that are textured or porous (uncoated) will not provide the needed smooth surface that the suction cups need. One suggestion I would make in such a case is to apply 100% silicone caulking to the tile and the suction cup and hold the suction cup in place with masking tape while the silicone dries over 24-48 hrs (or whatever the manufacturer recommends) While this will make the suction cups semi-permanent (it will take much more elbow grease to remove it) it will definitely help you get the device to work over uneven, textured, or porous tiles. Hope this suggestion helps. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
Hello, i bought 2 of these, cleaned the bathroom tile from any dirt or moisture it could have. Made sure it was as dry as the sahara desert. Selected 2 tiles as soft as they can get, glued the caps, made the pop with it's suction cap. After 5 minutes they fall without having any weight on. How can i improve it's stickiness?
Hi Etienne, Thank you for watching and providing a description of your experience to me and the rest of our viewers. I will need just a little more information from you before I provide an actionable response. First, when you say "selected 2 tiles as soft as they can get" do you mean as close as they can get? Second, what is meant by "glued the caps"? Do you mean removed the caps? While your reply will definitely help me customize an answer to your particular situation, here are a few checks that you can do: A) The corner of the bathroom that you are installing the corner brackets to, how close to 90 degrees are they (use a piece of commercially cut paper if you don't have an angle measurement tool)?; B) If the angle is off, try increasing the distance the suction cups sit from the corner so that the bracket can flex slightly (make sure you clean the suction cups with Isopropyl Alcohol); C) Also, make sure that no portion of the suction cup is on or near a grout line (I am assuming the the size of your bathroom tiles is at least the diameter of the suction cups--if they are not please advise). Please let me know your results when you have had an opportunity to try my suggestions. Thanks for being part of the community--H.D.H. [;{ ]
I’ve used the suction cups once and they worked well. However, I moved and my attempt to use them again is not working. Is there a way to pull the suction cups out so I can re-suction them again? Or do you have any other tips to try?? I watched your other video in repositioning, but my suction cups are a bit older and are not as sticky anymore. Can they be pulled out to re-“pop” into place?? Or ???
Nothing I do seems to work for these cheap suction shelfs. You get what you pay for. Nothing beats drilling the tiles and attaching a proper shelf with permanent anchors.
Hi Alex O, thanks for watching and letting me know your results. I am sorry it didn't work for you. There are multiple variables that can impair the suction cups, so I understand your frustration. Permanent anchors may not be the way to go for many people that rent or for bathrooms that use porous material (i.e. marble or limestone as coatings). Perhaps a semi-permanent solution such as keeping the suction cups but using 100% silicone between it and the surface. Use masking tape to let the suction with silicone set for 24-48 hrs and that should provide a much stronger hold. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
Hi there LunaJo/Jolanda. Thanks for watching. I am sorry to hear that my suggestion with the isopropyl alcohol did not work for you. May I ask what type of tiles are you placing the suction cups onto and are you installing a corner bracket or a flat/side bracket. If you can give me your response, I will look at your specific conditions and try to provide a custom solution that will help you and other viewers. Hope to hear back from you. HDH [: { ]
Hi mizz terry, thanks for watching. Try the alcohol, but do not sand paper the tiles. The scratches left by the sandpaper will only create micro grooves on the tile surface that will only accelerate the loss of suction. Hope my comment helps you. All the best to you, HDH [: { ].
Hi Chelle Manza, thanks for watching. Yes, they are designed to be reusable, but I have found that every time you do move them...they stay on for less time. Hope this helps, all the best to you, HDH [: { ].
Hi artisticscientist, thanks for watching and sending me your comment. The length of time that the suction cups can adhere to the wall is affected by many factors. Some of the ones to look out for are the following: 1) porosity of the surface (if your tiles do not have a perfect glass like surface or are naturally porous like slate, then the suction will not last), 2) the amount of weight that the shelf is expected to hold (I find sometimes letting just the suction cups stick on to the wall for 24hrs can enhance their longevity), 3) cleanliness of the surface. I will be posting a new video updating my experience with the silicone suction cups because after about 18months, one of my shelves fell off as well. In the video, I will try to show how to make these suction cups semi-permanent so that for even porous or even imperfect surfaces the suctions can grip. Stay tuned. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
@@HANDYDANDYHUSBAND Nope. Still doesn’t make sense. Hi Steven Lovy, Thanks for your comment. Believe it or not the same thing happened to my shower caddy after about 1.5 years. I do not want to just reapply it. I am experimenting with a few different solutions and will create a video shortly on what method works best over a medium term (of course the solution's long term viability will only be proven after many years). Hope you can keep watching. All the best, H.D.H.
@@HANDYDANDYHUSBAND I just found this video as I also have the Tisken which was fine for months then gradually started falling off. Finally found in small print on Ikea site to put the suction cups in very hot water to somehow prime them again. They went back up but fell off again in less time than how well they first stayed up. Final straw was my toothpastes falling into the cat litter tray! So now I have a pile of Tisken caddies shoved into a shelf trolley with various toiletries in them, a few random suction cups still stuck to the tiles and my daily shampoo and cleanser stacked on the side of the bath as before I ever got them all! A friend who does a lot of DIY suggested a silicone adhesive for a more permanent solution as I really don't want to drill into the tiles in a rented unit (it's secure lease public housing so I CAN do it if I wanted to but I already OWN all the Tisken caddies so would rather not waste what I have purchased less than 2 years ago!) Falling caddies in the night is really not something myself or my cats like (one of the reasons for getting the caddies in the first place!).. so it's quite disappointing that the IKEA website advice and comments on people's reviews is so patronising about it! I will have a look now to see if you've come up with any good solutions to the non-sticky caddy suckers!
Hi Meowmix, thanks for watching and your question. Water and alcohol can be mixed so whether it is wet or not when you apply the rubbing alcohol is not an issue. What you should do is clean both the suction cup and the tile thoroughly, let it dry, and then reattach. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
Hi , do u have any other option to stick this . I brought 3 but one attached in good manner other two are falling down Fast . isopropyl alcohol from where I will get ?
Hi Feba Finny, Thanks for watching and your question. First, you can buy the isopropyl alcohol from any pharmacy/Walmart/Costco. It is often used as a disinfectant or as a topical rub to relieve muscle sore (it is also called rubbing alcohol). Some large super markets also carry it in their pharmacy area. With regard to the suction cups where one is sticking and two are not, please confirm whether the area the suction cups are being pushed up against is the same. Also, for the suction cups that are not sticking, do you hear/feel a strong suction when you apply pressure to them? If you do not, then something is affecting the seal (either the surface you are attaching them to or the cup itself may not be holding the seal). Finally, check to make sure that the suction cup is clean (no lint (especially along the edges of the cup). Please let me know if the suggestions work...I can provide more if you give me more information such as what surface are you working with, how much weight is the bracket expected to carry, and are any grout lines interfering with the installation. Thanks H.D.H. [: { ]
Hi there. Yes, I too was quite surprised how strong the suction is. Infact, if you apply it using the Isopropyl Alcohol it is very difficult to remove the cups without prying the edges with a flat edge. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more.
It seems these kind of randomly stick or not, whatever people do. It’s not the fault of the people I think, most of the time. The product isn’t perfect and some of them are just better than others are sticking..
Hi Roan, Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. I do agree that the ability for suction cups to properly adhere depends on a variety of factors and this may appear that their ability to properly adhere to a surface may appear random. I have another video plan that will help remove some of the variability. Thanks, H.D.H. [: { ]
Hi Giuseppe Nero, Thank you for your comment and for watching. The suction cups that I used are made of silicone (sort of like the same flexible rubber like material that silicone spatulas are made of). When you clean the tiles surface and press the clean suction cups to the tile, they are held on by suction. This makes them removable (so you don't have to worry about scrapping glue or silicone caulking/adhesive from the tiles). Sometimes, if the silicone suction cup is dry or brittle applying some silicone *PASTE* to it will enhance its seal and, therefore, its suction. For your added information, I have seen other types of brackets that have a hard plastic disc which has 3M tape adhesive on their ends (which would be glued on) or even are attached with screws. I have also seen people use silicone *CAULK* on the suction cups themselves (but I wouldn't recommend that as you pay a premium for the suction cup brackets and if you are just going to glue it on, you should use the cheaper brackets that have are the glue on variety). Hope this helps. All the best, H.D.H. [: { ]

Also let me know if it is an Ikea product or some other brand. Once I have your answers, I can try to help. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
Hi there, thanks for watching and reaching out for help. The suction is very strong but it will release with the necessary technique. I recommend using a 'folding tool' with tapered edges (see my Bagsmart video for an image of this tool). Alternatively use a *blunt* spatula or even the tapered end of a butter knife, coat the utensil some baby powder (this will help lubricate the end being pushed in without introducing oils that could damage the silicone cup) and gently pry one edge of each suction cup it will release once you have slid the utensil in far enough. Note: silicone is can rip, so be extra gentle and patient. Hope this helps. Best wishes and keep in touch.
Hi Tilak Kumar, Thanks for watching and fielding your question. The liquid that I use to clean the surface of the tile is called Isopropyl Alcohol. It also goes by the name of Rubbing Alcohol. It is commonly available at most pharmacies. Please let me know if it is not available in your area. Thanks, H.D.H. [: {]
HANDY. DANDY. HUSBAND. H, many thanks for the prompt response. I have another question, in the video could see that it was being plugged to plain tile however, in my house it is not plain tile. Do you think it will be fixed on such tiles as I tired n failed myself? Thanks
@@tilakchanti Hi Tilak Kumar, Thanks for your further inquiry. I am experimenting with further liquids and will be making a video shortly about how to affix these suction cups if applying to imperfect surfaces. I am not sure, however, if any method (besides glue) will be effective on porous surfaces. Thanks, H.D.H.
Hi Dharma Sinaga, thanks for watching and sending me your comment. It may be an issue with the suction or the surface. You gave minimal information, but I think both issues can be addressed by using a little bit of clear 100% pure silicone on the surface that you are applying the suction and on the suction cup itself. Use masking tape to help keep the suction cups stuck to the surface for 24-48 hrs while the silicone cures. Note that using this silicone will make the attachment semi-permanent, meaning it will take chemicals or a scraping tool to remove the suction cup; however, the caddy will remain fastened. Hope this helps, all the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].
Hi Emillio, thanks for watching. I did not understand your comment and when translated, I understood it as: "and where is the continuation of the video, where it falls with a crash, as usual in a bath? Nichrome suckers do not hold. Only sealant or screws !!!!" I am sorry to hear that you have had poor success with this product. I, for one, installed the corner brackets once and they have not come away from the tiles at all. It is only when I intentionally pried the suction cups off did they release--I only did this to help another viewer who had trouble removing them. I have heard of some people using silicone sealant in between the suction cup and the tile. The sealant will indeed create a air tight seal (if the surface is irregular or there are microscopic pores that let air into the suction cup). I think this is one solution, but you are left with a bit of clean up when you have to remove it. Thanks for your comment, all the best. Я слышал, что некоторые люди используют силиконовый герметик между присоской и плиткой. Герметик действительно создаст воздухонепроницаемое уплотнение (если поверхность неровная или есть микроскопические поры, которые пропускают воздух в присоску).
Thank you so much
Thanks
Hi Parul Jain, You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best to you and stay safe, H.D.H. [: { ]
mine is keep falling, uh
Here we go? А где продолжение видео, где она с грохотом падает, как обычно в ванну? Нихрена присоски не держат. Только герметик или на саморезы!!!!
Hi Emillio, thanks for watching. I did not understand your comment and when translated, I understood it as: "and where is the continuation of the video, where it falls with a crash, as usual in a bath? Nichrome suckers do not hold. Only sealant or screws !!!!"
I am sorry to hear that you have had poor success with this product.

Hi Fifo Laine, Thanks for watching and your comment. I am not fluent in French so please bear with me while I use Google translate to understand you and communicate my response to you. It appears from what you said, that the suction cups did not work and that even when you glued them they still did not work. If my understanding is correct, then I am sorry to hear this was your experience. I just purchased a number of new Tisken suction cup products. I will be putting another video together to help people just like you that have had difficulty. Stay tuned and I hope I can help you and reduce your frustration. All the best, H.D.H. [: { ]
IN FRENCH: Bonjour Fifo Laine, Merci d'avoir regardé votre commentaire.

Hi @@تجاربفيفو, Thanks for your added comment. Yes, it really can be upsetting for something not to work and spending money on it. I will have a video together for you in 3-7 days. All the best, H.D. This crap keeps falling off after 10 minutes 🙂
Hi Felix, thanks for watching and your comment. Yes, I agree. for about 18 months the suction cups worked, but then they fell off. I am experimenting with different semi-permanent options and will post another video soon with the method that works best to 'repurpose' the suction cups so that they actually work better but are harder to remove. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ]
