I rode mountain bikes on trails and e bikes on the street constantly for the past 3 years. I had a blast, and it was one of my lifes major passions. The moment I got my One Wheel GT 4 months ago, I knew I had found a new passion. I'm not completely done with bikes, but 95% of the time, the OW is where my mind is when it comes to going for a shred in the streets or on the trails (other than really gnarly stuff like bike parks). Both are incredible in their own way, but once you get a taste of the float life, it's a whole new joy.
I’m a corporate pilot and love taking my GT on trips. Just had a 3 day pay over in Austin and did 30 miles on local trails. Super easy to throw in the airplane.
@@Hakucho64 I fly private jets, which is why I can fly with mine. The airlines here in the US will not usually let you fly with a Onewheel, I have heard of some people being successful though with a some what disassembled Pint though.

I do really love it and will absolutely buy another Onewheel if my current one dies for some reason. Aside from topping off the tire with air every 6 weeks or so, it is maintenance free thus far. I call my onewheels my little time machines- time is money and these things help my day runs smoother and more efficiently. Living in NYC for over a decade has let me try many forms of transportation and my Onewheels are BYFAR the most utilized and more enjoyable. I first started on a bicycle, but getting sweaty before work isn’t cool. Electric citibikes have their own flaws- over crowded docks, lack of bikes, lack of charged EBikes. Grab the wheel and rip really is how it be tho. Plus I can take it inside easily to a gym, office or movie theatre.
Kinda forget that you have to learn to ride a bike and the same applies to the onewheel. When i let a friend try it for the first time i always tell them it's like learning to ride a bike all over. Some people can hop on right away and do well but no ones commuting or going on serious rides until they learn the device. Most people know how to ride bikes. Can hope on any bike. I've seen skateboarders, snowboarders, and wakeboarders first rides and its always scetchy. People who've been riding like myself make it look easy, but reality is your first few months with a onewheel is just learning to respect it for what it is. I think its great to have both options because they are so different.
This was great! I don’t think you can make a strong case that a onewheel is safer than an e-bike though. 😅 I guess if you’re just riding in the street maaaayybe but even then, I think an e-bike is probably safer. But hey that’s part of the adventure. 😊
I got Onewheel because Lectric delayed shipping my first new e-bike for another month after I sold my old already and needed something to keep me busy. Onewheel was the answer!
I've been alternating riding my acoustic bike and OneWheel to work and have a blast on both. However I've never had my bike decide to randomly turn off and throw me to the ground resulting in some road rash and peeled skin. I was going ~15 mph up a slight hill carrying some pickleball paddles and my water bottle like I've done dozens of times before and the OneWheel turned off. No pushback, no beeps, no warning. I might be sticking to two wheels for a while.
Great topic. I love my GT and Pint and wouldn’t trade them for anything. I do plan on getting an eMTB eventually and it will have its place alongside my Onewheels and Boosted MiniX. They each have their own application. I think that most people can ride a bike more easily while others may be intimidated by the Onewheel. But you def can’t throw an e-bike in your trunk and the Onewheel is for sure more fun.
Great video! I loved everything about it except suggesting that a Onewheel requires no maintenance other than plugging it in. What about the tire, bearings, battery? Those are all wear and tear items.
@@mark2000mark1 yea on the wheel it's something you may have to replace after several years of use if you take decent care of your board. We still have original Onewheels that are in great working shape over here.

It's actually really good on gravel, once you know how to ride and are comfortable. I ride on gravel running trails to switch it up and get comfortable on different terrain. The better you get on the Wheel, the more the world opens up.
well, only if you don't read any of the instructions, don't take the time to learn the basics of riding and then ignore pushback and push the board past it's limits... People can misuse any vehicle out there, bikes included.
I loved my onewheel. But my pint died and it’s been banned in my favorite place to float. Sunriver Oregon doesn’t allow them now on their miles of bike trails.
@@AlwaysDunnRight no signs. I only found out because I was out with friends. They were on bikes I was on a onewheel and the local police stopped me. Thankfully they decided to educate me instead of cite me. But looked up the local ordinances after and found out it was true. E-bikes totally okay.

If I need to go somewhere that’s far and need to get there fast then obviously the E bike wins but if it’s a short distance run or if I’m driving somewhere and I need a secondary vehicle that I can just throw in my trunk. My Onewheel easily wins.
@@Onewheel does that include axels on a GT, ghosting,and battery issues or the quality retainer rings. pint x battery cable…not trying to be an ass as OW has made my life so much better but, um you only look at the sunny side. If you’d actually own the issues and not send boards back giving excuses we’d all be better off. I’ve never sent my board in because I can get a truly quality fix for less than half of what you charge and they put ALL the 3rd party parts back on…I’ve had several friends repeatedly sending the same board in.

Ebikes are cool but they get old fast and mtb ebikes you have to strap em in the vehicle and travel x miles to go to the trails, spend money on gas and food etc. Onewheel you just hop out of the front door and the world is your trail 🤙🏽
It’s not just about speed. If you stay within the limits of the board it’s perfectly safe. If you have the GT you can easily go 20 miles an hour safely which is pretty fast, especially on that. The one wheel is way more convenient and practical to have unless you have a big truck you’re not taking your E bike with you while with my Onewheel I can have a super small car and it will still fit and bring it with me everywhere I don’t have to leave it outside of a store or lock it up. I can just go in the store and throw it in my cart and don’t have to worry about it. Practicality and convenience the onewheel 0:02 easily wins. And if we’re talking about the GT it’s still gets decent range you can go at least over 20 miles on a charge.

I own an electric unicycle, a electric bike and a one wheel the E bike easily wins when it comes to speed and range and hauling things but the Onewheel wins in it being convenient and practical for example you don’t need to leave it outside and lock it up or worry if somebody’s going to steal it since it’s so small you can just bring it with you which is a huge selling factor. It still goes fast.20 mph which is the limit of a class to E bike in a small package and if own a car you can easily throw it in the trunk your backseat front seat on your lap😂 and leave while you can’t really do that with your E bike unless you have a big ass truck one wheel is also more agile and it’s a different feeling and the fact that it’s hands-free is a huge benefit as well. Perfect for short distance runs. Get coffee. Or have as a secondary vehicle with your car especially if you drive downtown and you can just ride it through downtown. Plus it’s just easier to get just hop on and go and like the video said less maintenance.

True, we service um in our factory in San Jose. But Onewheels are incredibly durable and have really low cost of ownership over their lifespan.

High-end E-Bikes can go for 6k or more! I'd say it depends on what you're in the market for. The onewheel GT isa robust machine well worth it's price!

Perfect for short distance runs. Get coffee. Or have as a secondary vehicle with your car especially if you drive downtown and you can just ride it through downtown. Plus it’s just easier to get just hop on and go and like the video said less maintenance.

@@Onewheel I think we need to see a video of OW taking on potholes since you say, "Potholes are no match for Onewheel." And simply dodging them is not always possible. I'm not anti-OW and I spent at least a half hour trying to learn to ride his first one (Pint) without success.

will OW ever have a official repair centre over seas?! it seems ridiculus to have a device that runs for 6 months and it itself require roughly 1.5months roundtrip of travel to be fixed, all while you dont have a travel device. I want insurance so I can have a onewheel in the mean time while mine gets fixed. stop creating toys, create vehicals that work in a real world scenario.!

Maintenance?? Hahahahaha! Onewheel completely locks you out and punishes you for working on it. Unlike bicycles ease of repair and use. If Onewheel wasn’t so communistic I’m their approach to repair and mods I’d be an advocat. But nope. Not going to buy another
I got some range anxiety when I had my OW
GT gets 30 miles per charge which is plenty for getting around town.
OneWheel is LAME, even GT. slow, barely off roads, can’t get over a 2” stick, the list goes on and on
Have you seen the trails/features people ride and RACE on Onewheels!!? It's pretty capable tbh.
