Speaking of online only games, California recently passed a law where online stores need to disclose that digital games, musics, movies, and ebooks, are not permanent purchases that you own outright, if the licenses and products can be revoked in the future. The words “Buy” and “Purchase” cannot be used if a digital product license can be revoked and removed in the future by the publisher or online store. I've been using a VPN to play with my American friends from the UK. Haven't lagged once and the servers have been mad stable. No cross-region capabilities should've NEVER been a thing. Absolute stupid decision, and to be honest, I highly doubt it's really to "counter lag".
Honestly, selling the publisher might actually be a good thing, depending on which company takes over the IP they might be compelled to overhaul the game... I know it's unlikely, but hey, who knows?
They could have made it a single player experience with a offline mode with campaign the 1st and second one did and did fine they wreaked it with the multiplayer only experience

No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk have shown us that broken games can be redeemed. It’s a question of whether Nacon can do it in time before they run out of money, or the player base disappears
Stop comparing every broken game to cyberpunk. 1. Cyberpunk and CDPR had the necessary money and 2. Cyberpunk's gameplay and story were already at a very good level. The main problem with Cyberpunk was the technical side. TDU, on the other hand, lacks everything. Technology, gameplay, TDU DNA and above all the necessary money. In addition, they lose players every day who lose faith in the game...
@@benn87 you could argue the main problems with Solar Crown are technical as well. If the networking worked as intended it would be a pretty good game. I never said it was exactly like Cyberpunk, and I literally added the caveat about having enough money
@@reanukeeves2k77Keep in mind he mentioned not to compare it to cyberpunk then completely disregards nms, because to my knowledge hello games only made smaller games before nms, so they probably would have had even less money than nacon and kt and still managed to redeem the game.
If this game flops (which I now give a 65% chance), the developers will have blood on their hands for butchering a truly unique and nostalgic open-world racing franchise.
I play a mod of euro truck simulator 2 called truckers mp, this mod allow you to play with people from all over the world in the biggest map ever created, and all of these people are in the same server, in the same map, up to 4000 people can play together in the same map (Europe continent) If a small team of private players can archive this, why can’t a company do it with a so small map? P.s. the creators of tdu made 2 Nintendo switch games, Gear club 1 and 2. These games have an incredible graphic to be on switch, so I think it was technically possible to port tdu solar crown into the switch, if it was offline
@@CGGS_0 No its just a mod. There is a ingame multiplayer called Convoy mode but its just 10 players max with synced traffic and the players pc hosts it. Meanwhile truckersmp is server based with no ai traffic.
The game will be dead by Christmas. The reason for live service was to try and bankroll future updates through micro transactions. But no one is paying for their slop, and player counts have been south of 1000. The game deserves to die, because they don't have the awareness, skill, or wherewithal to be able to rectify their appalling design direction.
Since your Last hope of racing games has destroyed, reminding that we still got our last hope (Japanese Drift Master, Night Runner, Tokyo Extreme Racer, etc)
The game looked really off when it first launched into early access and still does. It's something much deeper than simply not using the most recent advanced rendering features like ray tracing. If we compare let's say The Crew 2 against TDU Solar Crown and you'll see what I mean. It's as if they're using the basic template lighting setup without fine tuning it. The game is so strange to look at.
8:26 Theo, I think you underestimate what they are saying about lag here. We are not talking about the eventual laggy cars in GT7, more like cars going through other cars, cars going under the map and then overtaking you, the disconnects on the pre race screen. I really think they tried to do it but, much like the base game, it was so unpolished that it would expose all of the game’s faults at once. The servers barely handled the launch, imagine the cross region sessions, it would be a disaster.
Mate don’t buy into that BS, i can confirm you there’s no lag, i play on US servers from europe and i get 60-70 (highest i’ve seen was 115 in the pre-launch week) ping compared to 30-40 ping on other games that aren’t region locked
@@dudebro484 trust me bro, by the way the game director talks, it would have been a game breaking experience 🤣🤣🤣. People underestimate the problems with this game so much, they often forget how many simple bugs turn into massive problems. Like the rubber-banding AI, that in most games are annoying but, in TDU SC, they manage to break the WR by 10 seconds. That’s one example that comes to mind. Disconnecting mid race is not exclusive to solar crown, but getting disconnected while buying a car most certainly is. This game is just something else when it comes to the severity of issues, it’s just on a league of it’s own. I bet it wouldn’t be any different with the cross region servers, the issues would be out of this world, that’s why they probably canned it in the first place.
@@tibiceltare but that’s more on your end though. Your internet connection is probably very good too, which might be helping with the stability when playing on another server. I think they tried to do this cross play and multi region servers, but it just would never work on their end, so they locked it by region, then by plataform and lastly by race, which is insane. I’m not defending the game, I just think it’s hilarious that they can’t be bothered to find a solution to stuff like this. No one on their right mind would launch a MMO game with region lock and no cross play in 2024, unless they couldn’t do it (probably because of the incompetence of the devs).
Missing old days where if you pay for game you own it and no in game purchase, while free games had in game purchase with was understandable what is not is that I have to pay for the game and then there is in game transaction like WTF, I can't believe where gaming end up now.
Simple ways to save the game, turn the reviews around and get more sales. 1. Make it offline ( optional online ) 2. Fix the damn performance It might not be test drive , but atleast people would stop refunding it. Can bring other players who don't care about the tdu s dna about lifestyle. ( it's not there anyway!) I love crew motorfest. But I hate that it's always online. It's singleplayer for most part but it's always online ! I don't want always online. I just need a switch to go online if i want to. !

I can switch between three devices with the press of a button on my Astro A50X, and it has the Bluetooth option. Perhaps you should try this headset if you like the cycling feature that much.
I ended up going back to The Crew 2. At least Ubisoft tried to save face by doing away with the Motorpass crap and made everything either purchasable or unlockable through the Summit (outside of the Forsberg Nissan and some outfits, no biggie), as well as a promised offline mode once it reaches EOL. Also language barrier aside, they don't seem to grasp why we're disappointed. Like in 13 years there should have been leaps and bounds made when it comes to handling crossplay and multi region matchmaking. I'd rather have some lag in a race than not even being able to race someone at all. I feel like it's about to be a repeat of TDU 2. Promise all these things for the roadmap, and then not even get the first DLC out due to the company shutting it's doors.
This is the issue with companies wanting to put money above making quality games.

It's even worse bc the region limiting on playstation is based on your account's region, so my friends that use their older US based accounts can't play with me even though we're like 5 km away from each other
This doesn't bode well for their next project if they can't even get this right. And I want that next project of theirs, a racing/management hybrid centred around sports car racing.
This is my first YT comment in probably a decade and I hope the devs see this. Yes the server is bad but the fact y’all released the games without houses, solo, etc. and expect anyone to buy the game and still put a “battle pass” is beyond understanding for the reason this game blew up in the first place. As a huge TDU fan I genuinely would’ve bought the platinum pre order if I knew the game was releasing plus dlcs for reasonable monthly fee for even furniture upgrades but I’m still waiting to buy the game until then.
For good order, Alain Jarniou didn't start the Unlimited series, others started it, he was the director of TDU2 not 1. You're forgetting something... half of those 501 players still have connections issues 😄This game should have never been always online, as with the previous series they should added a solid offline singleplayer mode. The whole battlepass is ridiculous, all the use the name TDU for is to cash in as much as possible. Who wants to buy a battlepass for this disaster? Don't think we even get to those seasons, with such low player count there must be every low sales too and the predominantly negative ratings aren't doing this game much good either. They cut too many corners on this game.
Glad I didn't preorder or buy this game! I am just so sick of battlepasses. I'll forever miss the PS2 generation when you bought a game and could unlock and experience everything in said game by just playing the game. You paid your $50 or $60 for the game and that was that. The publishers weren't trying to squeeze as much money out of you as they could with DLC and battlepasses.
Unfortunately KT Racing doomed Test Drive as a series with this massive failure. I highly doubt any other company will pick up the IP once it totally goes down after all that's happened.
People should have done research before buying this game. There were so many red flags. I'll never understand the rush to get a game day one especially when everything was pointing to it being a bad game. Wait until a game has been out at least a month and then check out the current state of the game. Then if all looks good buy the game. The current state of games being released unfinished is a horrible trend.
unless there's some major breaking news for this game, I might just be too busy with RDR on PC and Assetto Evo in January I won't even mention GTAVI which will have a lot of console players busy by the end of 2025 (if the release date isn't pushed back)
Focus on multiplayer: Basically ignore the fact of crossplay Have terrible servers Dont do anything to fix terrible servers No cross region in a multiplayer focused game Have 8 player servers Have forced pvp races
All they had to do was take TDU2, update the physics and handling of the cars, update the graphics, make new servers for online multiplayer, and sell it as TDU2 Remastered or something for $70. Would be 10X better than TDU SC.

Here’s what TDU should’ve done. 1. OFFLINE THE GAME. Literally if the game simply worked during the launch and betas there would’ve been more people who are able to positively promote the game rather than trash on it because of first impressions. 2. OFFLINE… 3. OFFLINE…… The whole server idea nonsense killed the game. It completely divided the loyal users who had faith in this game since the beginning of the franchise and the always online was one huge middle finger.
Yet another nail into the always online coffin. When will they learn that nowadays, always online is not viable? I was considering buying a ps5 just for this game. Saved me a lot of money.
TDU:
We made it region and non cross platform so it doesn’t ruin your experience playing
Also TDU:
We made it online only…
I would be SHOCKED if this game and its devs stay alive by its 1 year anniversary.
Tdu sc always being online was a major red flags warning tjat tdu ac might be missing the marks of a true test drive games
this game has so many red flags than Russian Federation victory parade, and the always online is basically confirmed my suspicions about this game long time ago
Lucky I held back on preordering it.
I never preorder games for this exact reason.
I tend to avoid buying games like this for a reason as well, pre-order or not

Lol been thinking that same thing

Seeing this footage of the game makes me sad. The Crew Motorfest looks twice as good, even TDU 1 looked and felt so much better.
As a Hong Konger, THEY MADE A DISGRACEFUL GAME WITH OUR CITY
Im glad I listened to the Pant man in his first TDU video when he said DONT BUY TDU 😅
R.I.P. TDU 💔
this genre is decades behind man, its sad that monetization takes a bigger priority than actually delivering a quality game
I appreciate the honesty you've had with this game, Theo!
Reminder that Night Runners exist, it's free, and way more fun than UnTested Drive: Server Crash Unlimited
The fact they made a battle pass that’s worse than Overwatch 2 says everything about where this game is going,
Fortnite jumped so every other new game can fall through the floor
Overwatch is that shit tho
Even after dropping the last gen versions of the game they still ended up with issues. Now imagine how bad it would've been if they didn't drop last Gen.
It's even scarier to imagine what they were going to release in 2022
@@ddv137 true
I burst out laughing sarcastically when it randomly happens when I start a race "Huh? Someone joined my race?! Wow! ahahha there's life in the game!" and half the time it doesn't work because the servers are crap.
Guess I’ll just stick to Forza Horizon 5. I was really excited for this game but once I heard “always online” I said “nope”. Waited a little longer (by waiting on your videos covering this game) and noticed I dodged a massive bullet. Sad to see this, but happy that you make videos about it cuz I’m not gonna lie you funny. Especially the whole cross region bit lol.
If you really want to try it then you can put on an eye patch and try it (spoiler it's not good)
@@indominusrex1652 hmm well I don’t feel like “test driving” a game tbh lol. Plus I probably won’t find players (I play on Xbox and live in the US but you know, more players play on PS)
It is really such a shame and very sad. I feel so bad for them and they just went headstrong into making the wrong decisions, but oh my goodness, your French accent at 7:12 was absolutely hilarious! 😂
Being completely honest, i saw this train wreck coming the very first day they announced that TDU would be on the hands of KT Racing, i mean, i'm a WRC fan and us fans of WRC suffer with these guys for years of poorly executed rally games
good video! sad to see how the events played out, but as you said, we could have seen it coming
No need to apologize or feel bad I like that you are positive and get excited most of these UA-camrs just sell negativity for clicks
My worst fear coming into launch was the game being DOA and apparently it half was
It's such a shame. Test Drive Unlimited 2 was the peak of racing games for me-it felt more like a lifestyle racing experience. I was really excited to get this game, only to find out that it might not be around for long. Hopefully they can turn it around.
The Concord of Racing games
I blame you and the other influencers they used to sell the game. Funny how I expected it to go bad.
Refunded TDUSC and took that money and brought The Crew Motorfest only because Ubisoft(Ivory Tower) outta all people are telling us they’ll implement an Offline mode. £40 well spent (TDUSC refund to Motorfest Ultimate edition that was on offer)
motorfest has room for potential if it becomes anything like crew 2 with the online variety
Congrats on getting a turtle beach sponsorship! I have a turtle beach headset, and it's the best one I've ever earned. So worth the 120 bucks!
If this game flops (which I now give a 65% chance), the developers will have blood on their hands for butchering a truly unique and nostalgic open-world racing franchise.
I play a mod of euro truck simulator 2 called truckers mp, this mod allow you to play with people from all over the world in the biggest map ever created, and all of these people are in the same server, in the same map, up to 4000 people can play together in the same map (Europe continent)
If a small team of private players can archive this, why can’t a company do it with a so small map?
P.s. the creators of tdu made 2 Nintendo switch games, Gear club 1 and 2.
These games have an incredible graphic to be on switch, so I think it was technically possible to port tdu solar crown into the switch, if it was offline
I used to play pro mods that was great don’t think it it had mp tho
I thought Trucker's mp was part of the backed-in multiplayer?
I’m pretty sure Microsoft Flight Simulator has the biggest map ever created
@@CGGS_0 No its just a mod. There is a ingame multiplayer called Convoy mode but its just 10 players max with synced traffic and the players pc hosts it. Meanwhile truckersmp is server based with no ai traffic.
@@tommcmahon14 Truckers mp now has promods support, never as popular, but still always at least 100 people online. It's a lot of fun
The game will be dead by Christmas. The reason for live service was to try and bankroll future updates through micro transactions. But no one is paying for their slop, and player counts have been south of 1000.
The game deserves to die, because they don't have the awareness, skill, or wherewithal to be able to rectify their appalling design direction.
just wish i wouldve listened and not bought it, but i had faith in the game, lesson learned.
Same here. I've been good at not buying games at launch, but I let nostalgia cloud my thinking on this one 🙃
Since your Last hope of racing games has destroyed, reminding that we still got our last hope (Japanese Drift Master, Night Runner, Tokyo Extreme Racer, etc)
France men dont understand how games should work, ask Ubisoft.
Your enthusiasm for racing games is why I come here.
This game has potential they just need to be more open about the issues and address them with the community.
Maaaaaan we missed out on an even funnier and buggier experience :( the videos would have been hilarious
The Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown situation is insane
Missing old days where if you pay for game you own it and no in game purchase, while free games had in game purchase with was understandable what is not is that I have to pay for the game and then there is in game transaction like WTF, I can't believe where gaming end up now.
Simple ways to save the game, turn the reviews around and get more sales.
1. Make it offline ( optional online )
2. Fix the damn performance
It might not be test drive , but atleast people would stop refunding it. Can bring other players who don't care about the tdu s dna about lifestyle. ( it's not there anyway!)
I love crew motorfest. But I hate that it's always online. It's singleplayer for most part but it's always online ! I don't want always online. I just need a switch to go online if i want to. !
I’ve uninstalled the game, the game has nothing that makes me want to load it up, I’ll check the game again in 6 months if the games still alive
You release a half baked-game in 2024 and you deserve to go out of business.
The spoiler on the Mclaren 720S doesn't even work 11:40 😂
it pops out if you press the button for it...
I hate to play devils advocate but I want this game to fail because it's hilarious to me to see all the blunders and backlash from the community on their twitter page and Kingdom Twelve roaching this game

It’s not just no cross region - there’s no cross region saves. If you VPN to another country, it starts a new character - not a joke.

The most obvious answer on will this game survive is usually the right one and i dont see it surviving
"test drive unlimited.... is ba-" dead again
"Is b -AACK"
Unfortunately KT Racing doomed Test Drive as a series with this massive failure. I highly doubt any other company will pick up the IP once it totally goes down after all that's happened.
As someone who played the first 2 games, when they released, I have to say I'm sad. I really wanted it to be a sucessful.
I'm happy sticking with The Crew and Forza.
I HATE the handling in the game. The handling alone made me never continue playing. All the cars feel super slippery and snap over steer!
Gaming industry is cooked
R.I.P Test Drive † 2024 †
Why was I even excited for this game???
People should have done research before buying this game. There were so many red flags.
I'll never understand the rush to get a game day one especially when everything was pointing to it being a bad game.
Wait until a game has been out at least a month and then check out the current state of the game. Then if all looks good buy the game.
The current state of games being released unfinished is a horrible trend.
Man even Fallout 76 can have personal camps in their world space😂

unless there's some major breaking news for this game, I might just be too busy with RDR on PC and Assetto Evo in January
I won't even mention GTAVI which will have a lot of console players busy by the end of 2025 (if the release date isn't pushed back)
I’ve had more fun wandering instagram during a 40 minute shit than I’ve had playing this game
Focus on multiplayer:
Basically ignore the fact of crossplay
Have terrible servers
Dont do anything to fix terrible servers
No cross region in a multiplayer focused game
Have 8 player servers
Have forced pvp races
All they had to do was take TDU2, update the physics and handling of the cars, update the graphics, make new servers for online multiplayer, and sell it as TDU2 Remastered or something for $70. Would be 10X better than TDU SC.
The team behind tdusc doesnt have access to tdu 1 und tdu 2 code and assets because it was made by a different studio eden games and publisher atari. Now its kt racing and nacon and atari still owns the rights for tdu1 and tdu2 stuff but they went quite.

Great video.
You know how indie games on steam are better, because they’re usually made by players who know what players want, not businessmen and women who are primarily making a product to make money.
Games should not be made to make money, they are (or were) an art form for gods sake.
I didn't have a chance to play test drive growing up, and i really wanted my first to be a good experience, if anything im glad i chose to buy a pair of asics shoes over this.
Here’s what TDU should’ve done.
1. OFFLINE THE GAME. Literally if the game simply worked during the launch and betas there would’ve been more people who are able to positively promote the game rather than trash on it because of first impressions.
2. OFFLINE…
3. OFFLINE……
The whole server idea nonsense killed the game. It completely divided the loyal users who had faith in this game since the beginning of the franchise and the always online was one huge middle finger.
Yet another nail into the always online coffin. When will they learn that nowadays, always online is not viable? Also, they made it always online, forced PVP but they region locked the thing and the max size of the lobby is like what? 8 people? How the f*** do you make an MMO with 8 player lobbies? 🤦♂
lol, they'll be selling "crew credits" before long... and since cash is so hard to come by in this game, it'll probably work
