It's worth noting, that as someone who used to be *very* conservative, it's good to understand what is actually meant by "elites in power". For one, let's get the obvious part out of the way: Jews. It always means Jews, when they talk about "the elites". But outside of that, it essentially means "groups of people (that we hate) rising above the stations in life we think they deserve to be in". Who is a part of that? Well everyone who isn't a white, straight, rich, conservative, Christian, male. If you don't fit that mold and you 'dare' to rise above your station that they think you should be at, then that makes you an "elite" in their worldview.
Because they believe in a hierarchal structure to society, and that there are those who not only deserve to be on top, but that anyone else "daring" to rise up to the top must be pushed back down by any means necessary. And the reason why they (which is to say the white, straight, rich, conservative, Christian, male) is not considered an 'elite' in their minds is because such a person is inherently *supposed* to be on top of society by default. And when he/they aren't, then clearly it is the system "rigged" against them because of "The Elite" keeping them down.
Case and point: Look at how conservatives lost their collective minds in 2008 when Obama was elected, then lost their minds *again* when Trump LOST in 2020. Both things basically boil down to the same (so-called) "issue" in their brains: The "wrong" kind of person was put in charge over the "correct" kind of person, ergo it must mean that the system is being rigged against us. (Rather than just admitting that, y'know, they lost and aren't actually popular; but that would mean admitting to actually thinking of their political opponents as being 'people' at all)

It was always to move away from the Washington consensus, but the early days of the Heritage Foundation were not explicitly fascist.
They needed Joseph Coors' money who was the president of Coors Brewing company... As in the idiot who asked employees to pass a lie detector test... As in the idiot who paid out of his pocket to help the Contra affairs. Turns out that this guy had moral limits! So Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan were okay for Joseph Coors, but fascist and Nazi were not.
However, Paul Weylrich was there at the beginning and Weylrich was often associated with Lazlo Pasztor in Eastern Europe back in these days... As in Arrow cross party's Pasztor. And was known to be really soft on Domionism.
So you can see how easy it would be to move from Goldwater to harder right to fascistic as this organization becomes less dependent on Coors' money.
Some of this may or may not explain why the heritage foundation sounds like a bunch of drunks... 😅

Here's the scary reality. We're likely to turn into more conservative people as we age, just like our grandparents. My elderly in-laws do not have the white brain matter anymore to sort out lies on social media. They rely on fear to survive, because they literally lack the software to solve complex problems any other way. Without information moderation, we are doomed to be tricked (just like they were) into these crowd funding scams that do irreparable harm. Section 230 ensures taking advantage of the vulnerable with disinformation is always going to be profitable for internet platforms. When we rely on Elon Musk to sort our information on the internet, we are getting the library we deserve.

@@freedomishavingachoice3020 "We're likely to turn into more conservative people as we age, just like our grandparents." I don't believe that to be true. What I do believe is that at a certain age, most people stop growing mentally. Let's call it about the time we stop going to school, whether it be college, high school, or sooner. Think about the music people favor. It is almost always the music that was popular during their late teens and early twenties. The same goes for just about everything else, except for their body fat percentage. So, we don't grow more conservative, we stay how we were in our early twenties while all younger people accept society's progression until they are in their early twenties. By the time we are in our sixties, we are about 40 years behind the times. But we did not regress to being like our grandparents, or even like our parents, who would be about 65 years behind the times.

Wonderful suggestion that will probably be taken by no one. You don't understand the root causes of why people don't vote or know about their state and local policies. I live in Maine where we have early voting, which is great because I work the night shift and would never be able to get somewhere on voting day, but not everyone has such opportunities. And I am not aware of "state and local policies" because those are found on the local news (I don't watch it because I don't have cable and can't stream it) or in local newspapers which I can't afford. Or maybe I could talk to friends about it if I weren't deaf. I imagine a lot of people have the same problems, even the ones who can hear fine.
I'll bet you think this comment is super helpful, and maybe it would be if you understood and empathized with the actual challenges to those ideas. And you'd probably need to spend more than half a minute on making your comment.

What I found to be the most terrifying after reading 600+ pages of this document was the very clear and laid out plans to take down women's rights and LGBTQ RIGHTS literally stating that anyone who displays being LGBTQ is automatically p0rnograph1c and should be imprisoned for exposing people to it... They also mentioned taking away rights for gays to adopt or be married, taking away medical and decent systems and replacing them with RELIGIOUS programs instead like gender affirming care could be changed to CIS conversion therapy. I seriously had a very bad mental breakdown after reading 600+ pages of that in less than a week. I also told people to read it and they ignored me and said I was overreacting. As a trans, autistic person project 2025 is literally like a horror book

You have been fed a bunch of lies about both drugs and welfare. Most people on welfare stay in poverty because there are so few ways to get out of it that just giving them enough money to be able to eat and not be homelss is not so bad. You need to look at welfare as "we the people" (you, me, your grandma...everyone) subsidizing the crap pay that businesses give people. This may shock you but most people on assistance....have jobs!!!! they just dont make enough..I know what you are going to say "Just find a different job."
Ill run right down to homeless shelter and tell them that. Im sure they will just slap their foreheads and say "damn, why didnt I think of that!?"

The war on poverty actually really helped man. You should look it up sometime. The problem with just telling people to “get out and vote” is what you said right before that: the Electoral College. Only people who live in swing states have a statistical likelihood of affecting the presidential election. For congressional representatives and local elections, we have lots of other barriers - namely single-seat districts and plurality voting. So the first step to fixing all of these issues has to be electing people at the local level who will support voting reforms, and one we have sufficient support at the local level push these reforms up to the state and then federal levels. _Hopefully_ with enough grass-roots advocacy and willing legislators, we can eventually pass a Constitutional amendment to replace the Electoral College with a popular vote for President … but that’s going to be a very long-term objective.

As proponents of communal democracy, it is vital that we remember that the oppressive systems we endure and the right-wing organizations (described in this video) that create them will not be effectively challenged by a "leftist heritage foundation or state policy network" but instead by cooperative community institutions engaging in a wide range of mutual aid, political organizing, reform lobbying, and justice advocacy. If I may be so bold, I ask a question. I know who the Chair Person of the Republican National Congress is. That's Rana, who doesn't use her actual surname because that might be contentious. That's public. I don't know who ANYBODY ELSE in the RNC is. I have tried to look, but that seems to be a secret.
Are they grand high wizzard with oak-leaves and diamonds in the KKK?
Are they all owners of fire-arm companies and what remains of the tobacco industry? I know there's a multilayer connection between the RNC and the National Rifle Assoc. I also hear the NRA was used as a conduit to smuggle money in from Russia to fund the Trump election in '16....

There was a scandal at the NRA when it was revealed that NRA executives especially the chairman had been embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars from donations in order to finance a jet-setting billionaire lifestyle much like that of Trump campaign manager and Putin asset Paul Manafort. The financial crimes were so extreme that the NRA was facing bankruptcy. That story seemed to just fade away and the NRA continued in their evil activities, and it was later quietly mentioned that the org. had been bailed out by .....two Russian oligarchs who donated enough to make up for all the stolen money and make the NRA solvent again. Naturally, police were not involved in any of this, because they don't interfere with, arrest, or investigate anything right wing, including terrorist groups. Sorry about the essay, but more attention should be payed to the influence of Putin and Putin's anti-democracy operation through financing of right wing groups by Russian oligarchs. Groups like the proud boys would be nothing but skinheads meeting in an alley were it not for the financing and support from the Putin regime. All the right wing think tanks, PACs, white nationalist terrorists and the Republican party are being financed by the Russian oligarchs--it's part of Putin's plan to damage or destroy democracy in the West. They have delivered the Trump election, Brexit, and now the propaganda campaign against supporting Ukraine in order to damage NATO. Here in Canada, it's the same way. Every crackpot right wing hate group now has the ability to organize nation-wide protests and slick public relations all for the purpose of electing a conservative general gov't, which hasn't happened in a long time because their policies and direction has been taken over by the pro-Trump racist fringe anti-vax nutjobs and most voters are turned off by them.. They are a minority but a very loud one, but they are a threat to our country's existence.

Fixing campaign finances, dark money, so that positions and ideas determine a candidate's credibility instead of how much money they can bring in will fix so many problems in this country. Thank You for shedding some light on this topic. Yes, I am old enough to remember fully the Watergate trial. I have noticed the change in the Republican Party and how they handle, especially the position of Presidency and how it goes against the Constitution. Of course as we all know, the path to the Presidency, does start in the states and its disctricts. So we never had a doubt it started there.👏👏👏
Most of what the Heritage Found would encourage, like dark money, federalist judges and definitely funding justices in exchange for rulings like Thomas and Alito, actually go against the Constitution.
The spiritual transfer of the two parties was definitely becoming visible by the 1950's. Reagan really embraced pre Civil War policies. De- regulation, trickle down theory, were actually a way of markets, workplaces and taxation of corporate/industrial America before the Civil War and would never prosper America in the market, trade, taxation system we have today. When the Civil War took place, we did not have Social Security or Federal Personal Income tax. Today, it would actually have workers paying more than corporates and wealth in taxes, yet making far less wages. Its a way of keeping slavery. It creates "oligarchy" by manipulating wealth of the nation and buys corporates their say in legislation. Which is why groups like the NRA think their britches are bigger than what they are, now.

So while it's not a democracy in the traditional sense, even being called "indirect" democracy, there is SOME power for the people. The issue is, finding the pure people who are going up for representation.
