when I grew up we only had rotary dial phones for many years, I love them, love the sound they make, and been wanting to take one and make it into a mobile phone for many years.
This antique phone with a distinctive sound and a Rotary dial cost me 1 US dollar.
In this video I will clean and repair this old phone and put it back in business.
I founded the youtube channel with passion. Many rusted or broken metal tools are often discarded if not restored. Look forward to your support of my channel. Many tools will be reused for reuse. It is simply sharing skills, or simply entertainment videos. Thank you
I hope you find something useful & enjoy this video!
I am happy to receive your feedback, advice, suggestions to improve myself.
During the actual repair of this cutter, we also had a lot of difficulties and challenges because they were old, most of the plastic was weakened.
!!! I apologize for the mistake if I have made in this restoration !!!
Oh my goodness, 40 years of dirt? And it came off so easily, too! One might think it was put on there only yesterday. You certainly have a talent with a scrub brush!
These telephones had a different ring tone.💍😇💍☎️📲📴📞📵📳☎️
Hmmmm....................Yah, I think your right.
Love the sarcasm!
It's fake
its fake
It looks like it sat in a closet for 40+ years, then the outside was muddied and painted before doing this video. It is way too clean on the inside, and there is zero corrosion on the inside from it being in the elements, just normal use and age patina.
Pottery
It could’ve been thrown out in a junk yard and it most likely wasn’t out that long since only the outside is messy. I know the junkyard or old friends/grandparents or eBay is where most people who do restorations on vintage items like this get their stuff
You mean some of these videos aren’t exactly what they claim to be? I’m shocked!!!
Yep, never seen that dirt naturally can look like this. Here should be a lot of dust everywhere. Maybe greesy dust, but not like this.
I hate to be negative or suspicious but I see a few items on these restorations that seem like they are way dirtier than they should be. Also it always looks like the same kind of "dirt" if you know what I mean. I love the restoration but of it does not seem genuine.
I like how he has smeared dirt on it in random places to give the illusion of this being real. Genius 👍🏻
that not even in dreams is only dirt
😂
I don't recall seeing that in the video..........?
Note selective bird sh@t - on the phone but not the line or handset cables !!!
80's baby here it was so good to see this restoration and hearing that ring thanks for the awesome memories
I have a Rotary old telephone Sweden black-Ericsson in good condition for $120 on eBay if anyone wants to contact me
Both my grandmother's had rotary phones in their homes when I were a kid. Thanks for the memories
The other day I thought to myself, can a rotary phone be restored like old metal toys??? You answered the Q!
The dirt looks staged, not naturally accumulated. 🤣🤣🤣 Good restoration though.
The squeaky clean coiled wire is a dead giveaway.
Why do you think none of the metal parts had any rust
It's completely fake
Buen comentario.
If “one mans trash is another mans treasure” was a person.
My grandpa still has a working one in his house. Its so cool.
thanks for watching

The numbers in the red circle and which are written in white are "Indian" numbers, but they were widely used in the Arab World, assuming they were Arabic numbers. I was pleased to see this phone device after it disappeared from the people. Nice work. I hope you make other nice videos like this one. Thank you.
The underneath of the phone has Arabic writing. You can see it at 16:50 on the bottom.
Thank you, I was wondering about that and now I know! Have a lovely weekend
@@jwmtlmb You have a good eye for detail. I would have missed that. BTW, I hope Matt will love you back soon.💕
@@jwmtlmb yes of course

i can't remember if i ever took apart a rotary phone when i was a kid. i know i took apart our black touchtone to see what made it ring

cool video, i bought a 80s at&t dial phone brand new in the box (new old stock) for $75 on ebay, works great.
Thank you very much for watching and the kind comment
Wow... I feel 100 years old seeing that phone....
Nice restoration! It looks like from LM Ericsson model. :)
I use an old rotaryphone at landline for my daily call. It is an old FeTap from German Bundespost, made in 1983. It has the same green color like this phone here.
Bravissimo! ! !👏👏👏👍👍👍😭😭😢😢
Wow that inner dial is so cool! Analog devices had to be made so precisely! Given that phone lines are digital, now, does this phone still take and make calls? Great restoration!
Some house still use landline so it is perhaps possible to use one.
@@notmasterdelectronics You can use one, but you can't use the rotary dial when a machine asks you to press a button (happened when the digital phone broke and I called the phone company).
@@Cannonfodder0617 yea thats true
@@notmasterdelectronics i still use landlines, not planning to ever stopping.
But it only works if our internet is working. Internet down and no phone 😲
Have an analog rotary wall phone still on a land line at my folk’s place, works just fine for basic calling. Spinning the dial generates a number of electrical pulses, depending on how long it takes to return to neutral. These pulses are sent to the telephone provider, and their hardware (mostly software now) does all the rest. It’s actually nice to have in the sticks because the old landlines carry their own tiny bit of own power and still work when the rest of the electricity goes out!
Huh! So it's got European style "Arabic" numerals on the main dial, with an Arabic adapter. Where is this from, it's super neat
On the back, u could read in Arabic "made in Cairo" Egypt
I would guess Egypt
I personally find the white flash transitions to be very irritating to the eyes, it's bright and quite painful.
ugh same, it's not needed at all. It would've been fine without it.
Agreed. Total sensory overload.
Where this flash transitions I just watched the video and only one or two flash transitions?
Same
I have a Rotary old telephone Sweden black-Ericsson in good condition for $120 on eBay if anyone wants to contact me
Parabéns pela restauração...❤
Just beautiful! I grew up with a phone like that. :)
Thanks for watching
Nice Job ,really Nice video ,keep that way !!!
Uwielbiam Twoje Odcinki❤❤❤
I just brought an old 228 wall phone from eBay. It was very interesting how your video shown most of the phone parts were slotted together. Was curious how to clean it, and was surprised you used simple soap and water with a brush to finish the job. Thanks*****
Great upload! I was eagerley waiting to see if you would ring it to see if it worked at the end and you did! Thank you and great job of restoring it.
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍 muito bom.
Uma restauração muito boa.
Parabéns.😎🇧🇷🇱🇷
yes is very good 👌

Amaria Ter Um Desse Aqui Em Casa ❤️❤️ Amo Coisas Vintages
I have a vintage telephone like that one but cleaner and a different color
Why do i feel that phone was purposely made look like old with by applying dirt and grim
Right! Funny how the inside and the bottom is so clean, despite the outside looking like it was submerged in mud (or vomit? 😂) One gets the feeling that the phone was dirtied up to make the restoration and result look more impressive.
Because that's the truth with all these overseas "restoration" videos. Clickbate garbage.
I agree. Purposely made to look grungy. If it was real, there would have been human gunk all over it, especially the mouthpiece.
How does one apply "grim"? Maybe you meant GRIME?
Did you know who's invented of first telephone!?
I have one that belonged to my grandmother . It’s the standard grey one also with Arabic numbers on it 🤩
Thanks 😊 for watching

That phone is burdened with glorious purpose!
Yep...its antique alright. Great job restoration!!!👍🙋♀️👍💕🇺🇸

Amei! Parabéns 👏
This was awesome! Not a fan of the like button animation though…was way too distracting. But definitely worked hahaha

Trabalho perfeito muito carinho no q faz.💚

“These old phones are built like tanks” -my dad. So if anything can be made to work after being in such horrible condition, it’s a rotary phone. You did a fantastic job with the restoration.
wow where did you find that treasure!!!! i cants wait to see what you do!!!
Thanks for watching
Was about to say that isn’t vintage… until I did the math and thought about the fact that it’s 41 years old😅😭
I used those phones as a kid, plugged in the wall and no where to go.
I guess im vintage.
Two words to make me feel too
Beta tapes
41? Not older? 🤣 I thought it was muuuch older.
But the 60s was like 60 years ago. 1960 to 2000 is 40 years. 2000 to 2021 is 21 years. So it was 61 years ago. Not 41.
This guy must be good at math, i see.
What math are you doing 😂 just kidding
I have two of these in black color...that came with my house in 1964. They are still almost mint condition ! What would they be worth ??
I remember those phones from the 70's and 80's
My gosh, what in the world happened to that phone?! It looked like it had been through some stuff, if you know what I mean. It looked like how I feel after raising 3+ kids on my own followed by a bad divorce. Lol. I LOVE the green. It would go perfectly in my home. 🙂 I just love to see old things get a new lease on life and I REALLY enjoy your videos. 💚💚💚
Thanks for watching the video and thanks for the kind comment
ممتاز صنع فى القاهرة made in Cairo

I HATED those phones! I could never remember if I rotated to three twice or three times when dialing my old home phone in grade school! I was OVER THE FUCKING MOON when push button phones came out! THEN I knew I was dialing the right number!
Thanks for watching.
Never had a problem with them, there were a few wrong numbers, but generally reliable. I probably had more wrong numbers with a touch tone.
Goeie restoratie! En hij deed 't ook nog! Mooi.
yes is very good 👌
love ❤️ from morrocco 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🙏🏻
Not so sure about the "vintage" label though. That Ericsson logo isn't that old.
Although I guess in the Tech sector anything older than 10 years qualifies as vintage if not antique nowadays.
I guess it’s just because rotary phones haven’t been used since the early 80s. That was 40 years ago. I think I was 9 when my mom got the first touch button phones for our house. That was 1982.
We had this phone when we were in in India up until 2001 along with two cordless phones.
he didn't restore the phone, he REVIVED it
We had two exactly the same one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom
He just released his home number 😂😂😂
Nah that’s the Dont Hug Me I’m Scared ring tone. I’d lose my mind.
Í love Vintage. It's beautiful OLD TELEPHONE ☎️👍
Parabéns!! Muito inteligente .
Desmontar e depois montar novamente nao é tarefa facil.
Se eu fosse fazer, sobraria peças no final. .😁👏👏👏👏👏
That's cool. It has Arabic numbers on the dial!
Boa noite.
Beau travail . On avait le meme chez nous autrefois
I'm dying to get a phone like this one in black color, remind me of my years as a child and having one in our apartment.
These phones always had to be turned back in to the phone company if you moved.

What about all the electronics and airings.

thanks for watching
Lindo!!!!!!
What have they done with that phone, used it as a brick?
ASMR 🙌🏾
Thank you for watching
To think that 200 years ago, it was not possible to even think about such a thing as a telephone.
Just like Reba McEntire said in her song "Why Haven't I Heard From You:" "Well back in 1876; an old boy named Bell invented a contraption that we know so well. By the 1950's they're in everybody's home; it's a crazy little thing they call a telephone. Now there's one on every corner, in the back of every bar. You can get one in your briefcase, on a plane or in your car."
Was it in an auto boy paint shop?!
where are you from ?, Egypte ??
