Roosevelt Johnson, the head of the Ulimo-J faction in Liberia, on Monday (6/5) urged his rival, Charles Taylor from the National
Patriotic Front of Liberia, to join talks in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire. In an exclusive interview with WTN, Johnson blamed Taylor for the "total breakdown of law and order" that has gripped the Liberian capital, Monrovia, for the last month.
SHOWS:
ACCRA, GHANA, 6 MAY, 1996
major general roosevelt johnson SOT: saying we've been asked to attend the committee conference on liberia because there is a total breakdown of law and order. there is no government because of the irresponsible decisions made by mister taylor.
more sot: if you can recall the undersecretary of state for african affairs, mister moose said the united states wants a ceasefire and wants monrovia free of arms and everybody must attend this summit and i think mister taylor calling for a unilateral ceasefire is in the right direction
more sot: and he (taylor) asked me to surrender. i said me surrender to mister taylor to be slaughtered that is the last thing i will ever do. we fought them for six years to stop them getting power and even now he is killing people in an attempt to seize power. i think mister taylor should come to the talks. it would be good for him

If you ever knew this man personally, you would have known that he was genuinely good hearted. He helped save many of us when we should have been killed during the 1990 war.
You people cannibals right. You were killing kids and eating their hearts

I don’t think he fought for him more like just fought together since the same tribe
@@emmettcarter9209 Prince Johnson was the leader and Butt Naked was his subordinate.
Edit - It wasnt Prince Johnson. Butt Naked fought for the man in this video, Roosevelt Johnson.
@@Ali-7676 that's the late Roosevelt Johnson & not Prince Johnson. And yes, Gen Butt Naked fought for Roosevelt Johnson.

The man who butt naked fought for was a good man,
IS that what you guys saying?
Hmm Liberian man la jes Liberian man.
If so don't criticize Prince Johnson na.
Confused Liberian people!!!!
Butt naked didn't fight for him.
All those commanders of ulimo had their own mini armies which weren't loyal to eachother at all
The United States want.... what???..
Peace is good for everyone. Why must you guys killed Tolbert,?
Tolbert government was autocratic and the whole group of americo liberians treated the actual natives of liberia like slaves
If someone made you feel bad for your culture kept mistreating you it’s not hard to see why he was killed
Mr. Carter, can a leader be killed for simply being "autocratic" or for treating"actual natives like slaves"? What then would you do the white guys who enslaved black people for decades? And so, it haunted us all.
@@ferrislkpokpa7867 black people as a whole revolted against the autocratic whites as well it’s why we have much freedom today. The more you hurt people no matter how powerful those people will try to bring you down
