Roosevelt Johnson, the head of the Ulimo-J faction in Liberia, on Monday (6/5) urged his rival, Charles Taylor from the National
Patriotic Front of Liberia, to join talks in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire. In an exclusive interview with WTN, Johnson blamed Taylor for the "total breakdown of law and order" that has gripped the Liberian capital, Monrovia, for the last month.
    SHOWS:
    ACCRA, GHANA, 6 MAY, 1996
major general roosevelt johnson SOT: saying we've been asked to attend the committee conference on liberia because there is a total breakdown of law and order. there is no government because of the irresponsible decisions made by mister taylor.
more sot: if you can recall the undersecretary of state for african affairs, mister moose said the united states wants a ceasefire and wants monrovia free of arms and everybody must attend this summit and i think mister taylor calling for a unilateral ceasefire is in the right direction
more sot: and he (taylor) asked me to surrender. i said me surrender to mister taylor to be slaughtered that is the last thing i will ever do. we fought them for six years to stop them getting power and even now he is killing people in an attempt to seize power. i think mister taylor should come to the talks. it would be good for him

If you ever knew this man personally, you would have known that he was genuinely good hearted. He helped save many of us when we should have been killed during the 1990 war.
