- Maajid Nawaz argued with a caller and insisted that it's important to recognise that grooming gangs are disproportionately Muslim.
Maajid spoke to a caller, Daniel, about the revelation that the Rotherham police chief ignored the sex abuse of children because of a fear of racism.
The caller thought Maajid Nawaz was comparing "apples and pears" when he "kept mentioning Muslims".
Maajid Nawaz provided statistics about grooming and sexual exploitation, citing Rochdale, Rotherham, Oxford, Bristol, Aylesbury, Newcastle and Peterborough as examples.
Maajid said: "The pattern in all of these, overwhelmingly, is South Asian Muslim men, primarily Pakistani, sometimes Somali Muslims, sometimes North African Muslims.
"It doesn't help us Daniel to pretend this wasn't a phenomenon that was replicated across the country."

I am a Muslim woman of Somali origin and I wholeheartedly agree with Maajid. In Bristol the 13 convicted groomers where of Somali background. They should not have received prison sentences. Happens in Leicester too. Same culprits. Back when I was at school and still going on now to my sister's generation who is in school. What isn't out in public is how many non Muslim Asian girls are targeted. Hindus, Sikhs etc. I know generally we don't really discuss these issues with our parents as they're generally conservative and boys/dating isn't openly discussed. We were all too scared to report for this same reason - in case our parents found out. But many, many non Muslim Asians were targeted are still targeted today. Thank you Majid for speaking up for all of us.

I don't know about this tbh, I dislike stating this but for those of us who care about these particular 'Western'(and frankly international) problems we shouldn't employ hyperbole so easily. Nevertheless, general Human and specific child trafficking are repulsive and definitely in the top 15 most ghastly national, international/worldwide and continental "man vs man" issues that need to be addressed and dealt with accordingly.

I was a soldier who served in Afghan and would often come across men in there 60 -70 going with young girls of about 12 -14 years old when searching there homes.
Why aren’t you mentioning that some of the Rochdale child abusers, who we were told would be deported are out and about on UK streets some even intimidating their previous victims

Well done Maajid, I am a foreigner myself, I am really ashamed,I grew up in a country with multicultural population , we were brought up respecting other cultures, race and religion- I think parental supervision are vital in their growing years.
