Hey Sam, Grand National expert here. On your radio, they're still a few out there. And a couple guys that will referb them. (basically cleaning it and replacing the rubber belt that drives the cassette wheels). There is a guy that will solder a USB port as an 'AUX input' so you can hook up a phone or whatever to stream from a device. On the important parts about your car, if it's stock, a LOT of parts are timed out. And quite a few parts were substandard when brand new in the 80's. Even at stock boost. For your scan device, you know your GN is an OBD1 so the options are limited for a basic scan device. The port only updates every 1.4 seconds, so if you do log from there, that's pretty slow. To scan a stock ECM correctly, you need Powerlogger. That's a circuit with a USB output and it installs on the test port of the ECM. It logs data in real time so it's MUCH faster. So monitoring for knock while tuning actually works. If you still have a stock ship, toss it if you want to drive the car. Today's gas has a much faster burn rate (and other factors) that make the stock tune dangerous. That, and it's a shit tune anyway since it had to work with all drivers, in all conditions, in all traffic scenarios. You injectors if stock have timed out. 1/3 of a century with gas sitting in them means they need some serious love. It's the same money to just get bigger/better injectors and a matching chip. I recommend a set of 60's and a matching TurboTweak chip. It's a tried and proven setup for 'stock' turbo Regals. And Eric, the chip burner, has been doing this long enough he can get VERY close on the base tune due to over a decade of experience. Now, for what's timed out and weak from the factory. Your timing set, if original, is a grenade with the pin pulled. The top timing gear is a nylon coated aluminum unit. They work GREAT for 100,000 miles or 30 years. Which ever comes first. When you pull the timing cover, you're most likely going to find that a bunch of the plastic teeth have retired and moved south to the oil pan. While you've got the timing cover off, here's an article I wrote almost a couple decades ago on how to make the oil pump more efficient all over the RPM range, and fixing a design flaw that makes it a LOT better at low RPMs and before the pump gets up to working pressure. www.turbobuicks.com/threads/how-to-build-a-front-cover-oil-pump.39169/ Your fuel pump. It was too small from the factory in the 80's. If it's stock, it's too small. A "plain ole" 22L will work with most cars. And the power wire that feeds it, is too small from the factory. You can buy a ''hotwire kit'' for the fuel pump. OR, you can just grab some 10ga wire and a relay. Tap the charge lead on the back of the alternator, mount the relay on the fenderwell where the fan delay relay used to be (if you still have the relay that has 2 plugs on the bottom, take it off, throw it as far as you can, then walk out there and smash it with a hammer. The part is NO GOOD). After you have the relay mounted, there's two open wires behind the alternator, one of them is a fuel pump test lead. Use that to trigger you relay, and run the wire inside the frame to the fuel pump. That will get your fuel pump sorted out. Your valve spring were weak when new too. They're the same units that came in plain ole 110hp Regals. And they're waaaaaaay tired now. I've measured some that were only 45#s on the seat. That's nowhere near enough to hold back 12.5# on the back of the intake valve. Get a set of upgraded springs that won't wipe out your can and you'll think your car just gained 100hp (because it did). Touch ever vacuum hose under the hood. If they turn your finger black, you know what to do. Also blow through both check valves under the hood. Odds are at least one has failed and you're boosting your HVAC controls or pressuring the charcoal filter (toss that too. That charcoal is LONG since expired). Spark plugs, nothing gimmiky. Plain ole NGKs are all you need. I recommend starting with UR4s or UR5s. 5's being slightly colder than stock. So, for you, I'd recommend starting with 5's. Do that list, up the boost until you see knock. Play with timing to see if you can up the boost a little more. Find the ragged edge and back out a pound or two and a degree, and let it fly. That should net you a full weight reliable 12sec car with the A/C blowing, and your prettiest lady riding shotgun.

glad to hear that you're not going through health problems. you're one of the best things to happen on cleetus's channel. keep it up sir and thanks for sharing your life experiences
Sam I do love your spray wax. I've bought two bottles so far. Ive still got a little in the first bottle and gonna do my whole truck again soon with the new bottle. Also have a bottle of the interior cleaner.IDK if you remember but I posted a photo on your facebook or cleetus facebook of my 2010 GMC 2500 hd truck 69 k original miles on it. I'm the second owner bought it in 2017 from a contractor friend. It's the 6 liter and it also came with two batteries which is the first one with a gas engine that has that option that I've ever seen . Anyway I made a TikTok video about how good your wax was and also posted a photo of my truck to you and you responded to me which I do appreciate it. You make the Cleetus channel that much more fun to watch. I do love watching those guys and they are all so talented. Ty is the best dang welder Ive ever seen he's even better than me LOL. I Was a mig welder for 8 years of my past career. I'm so glad you have good health that allows you to do this. I'm 65 and have horrendous back problems from my real career of being a brick / block mason for about 25 years. It just broke me down and it does me good to see you in good shape and just keep going you are so blessed. So God Bless you brother and I hope you have a good weekend coming up. I may do a youtube video about your wax on my next wax job. I've kind of let my channel just go and I did try to build a subscriber base since 07 but it didn't take off so I gave it up. Take care. Also I noticed some original radios for the buick on Ebay so not sure which year your's is.
Thank you for the update. It was awesome to see you draggin your truck with the new whipple. A couple minor adjustments on the launch and I'm sure you can drop into the 10's.
At 3:07 thanks for giving the all clear on you're health. Alot of people we speculating on some of Cleetus videos on what the monitoring device you were wearing was for.
You remind me so much of my Grandpa, just you Ascent and build, manorialisms. He was from Princeton, nc. Don't mean to sound funny, but I love seeing you on Cleater videos, it's like getting a glimpse of him again. He passed in 1998. He was a Merchant Marine.
Not sure if you remember me. Mark with AIM Supply. You provided us a ton of good products and service. Still have some of your original stuff in my garage. Glad to see you doing well !
Didn’t know you had a channel Mr Sam but subscribed and gave a thumbs up immediately before even watching the clip, purely out of respect for a great man. Thank you Mr Sam for joining garrets team we all appreciate you very much.
