@@terrythegnome2408 This is why they lose the big games against really good defenses. I watch a lot of 9er ball. Kyle would rather have CMC running routes than staying in to block. Always a great way to end the day seeing you upload a video focusing on the 49ers. Positive or negative, you do an amazing job of breaking down complicated concepts for the everyday person.
In the 49ers offense the center calls the protection, which is incredibly dumb. I played center at the college level, absolutely no way I would have been able to call protection accurately consistently. Glad I had a good qb who put us in the right protection more often than not.
I've been following the 49ers for a long time. The one constant demoninator throughout the Shanahan era is (outside of Trent Williams) a fundamental lack of building the offensive line. There are so many weapons at HB, FB, WR, TE, and now QB... but to continually rely on Purdy's ability to escape and make off schedule plays is insane.
He could dial up faster passing plays, too. I feel like too many of the passing plays take three or four seconds to develop. Baker was releasing the ball in two seconds, which is why he didn't get sacked all game.
If I recall correctly, I believe they call 3-4 plays in the huddle and Purdy usually kills if he doesn't see the right coverage. But the Shanahan offense is usually based on position less player progression reads.
And a lot of the blocking issues seem more scheme related than skill related. Kyle is great with run blocking but in the passing game hes constantly letting his QBs get hit just from not picking up simple blitzes or trying to block elite pass rushers with TEs and RBs.
Seeing the different angles makes me so much more impressed with purdy cuz he takes so many hits and still does a geeat job of throwing where his receievers wont take a massive hit. Would love to see him progress in his pre snap adjustments but idk if kyle will allow that or even coach it since pass protection has always been his kryptonite
Was there. It was hot as hell and between tailgating and the game I was like 8 tall boys deep when Moody went for that game-winner at the end. I hate that Brock isn't allowed to adjust the protection in Shanahan's offense. He should be able to 5-0 it or change the slide, seeing as how he's the one who has to take the blows
I guess some plays need to look a certain way upfront for the play to work, that’s my only guess why Kyle isn’t letting him do it because Brock’s IQ is really up there
It’s amazing how little time Purdy has to throw. He is so instinctive and makes such quick, accurate decisions and passes. They really need to pick up a top O-lineman on the left side.
The Shanahan scheme gives Purdy answers for the blitz, but Brock has to be so fast and just hope a late hit doesn't kill him. So often you see him throw and immediately turn away to take a shot.
Thank you Chase..you break down the tape better than anyone else..also, really enjoy. “the facility“ you’re doing great work on there. Keep up the great work, man.✌🏼
When Purdy struggled with the multitude of picks against the Chiefs, I have to legitimately wonder if it's because the backup receivers (because they were down to their 4th WR) didn't run their routes correctly on those plays? Purdy often throws early with anticipation before the receiver has even finished making a cut, which puts the onus on the receiver to run the correct route.

That has become the standard defense against the Niners since the Ravens game last year. Six in the box. Don't understand how the running back not reading the blitz and staying home to block. You asked why (at nine minutes) they did not turn the blocking right. The main reason is that McKivitz does not have the mobility to turn outside fast enough.
I’m hoping they draft a high end right tackle next year. Mckivitz is doing all he can but he just doesn’t have the talent to block some of these faster defensive ends
@@pigskin94pvp82Agreed! I'll give him some credit Mckivitz has definitely gotten better, but still not good enough especially in pass pro. Honestly Trent looks slower this year too

Yup, and that goes for 99.99% of the population. That's why we watch the games from our couches, in the stadium seats or the sports bar. Being an elite QB also means being an elite thinker/having elite brain processing abilities along with excellent vision. Purdy is just one of those rare guys.

Man, watching this makes me think the Niner's need a new offensive line coach. Every play started with lame protection followed by a miracle from Brock but they were still gettin' hits on him.
Brock is good, no doubt. One thing I see he needs to stop doing is stepping forward as a habit, before the throw, when it's unnecessary. This creates balls being tipped and high throws sometimes on underneath routes.

He probably should've went after the ST coach, it's his fault if they brought Moody back too soon.
Really questionable pass protection schemes. Even Trent Williams was letting rushers come free. Shades of the Super Bowl, when the guard helped out triple teaming one rusher, while letting Chris Jones, who was lined up right in front of him go free. That one play cost the 9ers the game, as if Purdy had had even one more second to set to throw he would have hit a receiver in the flat for a likely TD. It just makes no sense. Understand that a lineman can get beaten by a bull rush, a stunt, a swim move, whatever, but to not even attempt to block an obvious pass rusher is nuts. It not only puts the play and game at risk, it puts the season at risk. One big hit on Purdy and they could be looking at getting a high draft pick next spring.

These play breakdowns really help illustrate a strong rebuttal to those naysayers (ESPN's Nick Wright, especially) who casually dismiss what Brock Purdy has accomplished over the past two seasons as being "just a system quarterback": A system quarterback wouldn't be throwing as many high-risk, tight-window passes as BP13 throws on a routine basis. A true system QB would be leaning on his running-game ootions more and throwing safer and more-selective short-yardage screen-style passes

Everybody says mahomes is better, they even say Lamar is better. I want to see Lamar and mahomes make these throws Brock makes every game. Most of mahomes throws are check downs or shirt passes, and Lamars receiver are usually wide open or have lots of seperation. There is no way Lamar or mahomes makes these throws
@JP-ml1xe I would, Lamar can't make throws that purdy makes every game. Sure lamar is electric, but if you need him to thread the needle like purdy does, he can't. Also purdy is mobile, he's not a statue like goff or Stafford, and can throw it with more precision than probably any QB in the league
No, you should not put your hands on a teammate. However, when someone is having a non physical moment with a player that is clearly struggling… do not walk up like you’re hard and give the notion you’re going to do something about it. Pepper had that one coming, wrong or right. Everyone needs hold themselves accountable for their own actions that caused the escalation in the first place. A lot times, people get knocked out for 💩 like that, and let’s face it, a lot of these guys grew up with the strike first and strike fast mentality… they had to. I know it’s not the streets, but that defensive notion should always be ready.
Gurendo shoulda been the 2nd string to CMC, his speed is more transferable as a backup to CMC than Mason’s, I think you throw mason in if it’s 2 or 3rd&1 and you wanna punch it in or hit ‘em w/ a play action.
Why does this Shanahan scheme not have blitz side hot routes, or give the QB the ability to make them at the line? Like what is the passing game philosophy? Im sure Shanahan has a reason i just cant see it
I agree. All really good players. But to be all on the same team ? Head coach , Gm and owner and defensive coordinator happen to look similar ? Jk. I love the 49ers. I love our diversity. When I watch teams like the ravens or Texans you tend to notice it more compared to our team.
That play to kittle is a typical play the ravens use for lamar and Reid uses with mahomes. Easy for the QB and very effective. for some reason shannahans calls plays for Brock that are extremely hard where he has to throw the ball into a tight window before he gets drilled. I'm convinced shamnahan would have been fired already if he didn't luck out with purdy
Anyone notice how the folks who got fat checks this offseason (Aiyuk/Trent/CMC) are turning out to be albatross around the 49ers neck this season. Trent really is regressing
Deebo didn’t choke out anyone. He didn’t touch the kicker at all. There was a mild physical altercation with the long snapper. This is why you guys lose credibility. Just don’t speak on it if you don’t know, it isn’t that hard.
Lmao the guy started with saying bucs defense is really good and brock is reason they won lmao. Almost every qb has thrown multiple tds and over 300 yards lol this guy trolling us. Bucs defense is dam near last

The 49ers offensive line has been pretty bad for awhile. Whoever is running the show is failing hard. It was PAINFULLY obvious in the Super Bowl when Burford (the RG) missed his assignment. . . a guy you might know. . . CHRIS JONES. . . and let Purdy get smashed while BA is running wide open for the Super Bowl winning TD. Pathetic. Kyle of course doesn't adjust because he is arrogant and refuses to admit mistakes. Then in 2024. . . Purdy is constantly facing free runners because of pass protection brain farts by the entire O-Line. Even Trent Williams is letting free runners smash Purdy. Grotesque. If you would take Purdy over Lamar theres something wrong with you. You dont need to be a Ravens fan to see it.
On the out pass to Jennings, could he have had Pearsall deep on the go? Or did the defender only break down when he knew Brock was going to Jennings?
No, you should not put your hands on a teammate. However, when someone is having a non physical moment with a player that is clearly struggling… do not walk up like you’re hard and give the notion you’re going to do something about it. Pepper had that one coming, wrong or right. Everyone needs hold themselves accountable for their own actions that caused the escalation in the first place. A lot times, people get knocked out for 💩 like that, and let’s face it, a lot of these guys grew up with the strike first and strike fast mentality… they had to. I know it’s not the streets, but that defensive notion should always be ready.
Kittle has been struggling with injuries
When does kyle protect Brock🤦
Gurendo shoulda been the 2nd string to CMC, his speed is more transferable as a backup to CMC than Mason’s, I think you throw mason in if it’s 2 or 3rd&1 and you wanna punch it in or hit ‘em w/ a play action.
Guerendo can't block yet. That's why on one play, Trent was upset.
Can we get a Herbert breakdown?
That's an easy 1st read no pressure 20 pard pass to a guy wide open unless I'm blind
he was shot this year at Union Square
Why does this Shanahan scheme not have blitz side hot routes, or give the QB the ability to make them at the line? Like what is the passing game philosophy? Im sure Shanahan has a reason i just cant see it
Just noticed that the 49ers have a white QB, RB, FB , TE , WR. Crazy to think. They like that white chocolate in Frisco
White DE lmao
Insinuation?
It just so happens that they’re really good football players.
I agree. All really good players. But to be all on the same team ? Head coach , Gm and owner and defensive coordinator happen to look similar ?
Jk. I love the 49ers. I love our diversity. When I watch teams like the ravens or Texans you tend to notice it more compared to our team.
@ You missed the Chip Kelly Era. That was your window.
Cowherd: football is a circumstance sport and Brock Purdy is lucky to be in the circumstance of being in Kyle’s system. Bo Nix is a way better QB
Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on Cowherd.
How does Brock never get roughing the passers called like if any of those hits happened on mahomes the defender would be shot on sight by a sniper 😂
Why is it that all coaches praise Purdy but Talking heads and NFL fans shit on him?
So what does he understand that nobody does? Did I miss it?
So, Nick Wright is moot
what does he mean by "renewed faith" in Pearsall?
That play to kittle is a typical play the ravens use for lamar and Reid uses with mahomes. Easy for the QB and very effective. for some reason shannahans calls plays for Brock that are extremely hard where he has to throw the ball into a tight window before he gets drilled. I'm convinced shamnahan would have been fired already if he didn't luck out with purdy
Wrong. Shanahan ain't going NOWHERE.
Anyone notice how the folks who got fat checks this offseason (Aiyuk/Trent/CMC) are turning out to be albatross around the 49ers neck this season. Trent really is regressing
O-line going to get their QB hurt if they can't get it together. A free shot at the QB is unforgivable 5 on 5.
Does he understand a qb rating of 35 against the Chiefs sucks?
Dude what is up with the protection scheme. IMO it is really not very good, its the same scheme that lost them Purdy in the NCCG. This is ridiculous.
Line missing blocks all day! Smh
Deebo didn’t choke out anyone. He didn’t touch the kicker at all. There was a mild physical altercation with the long snapper. This is why you guys lose credibility. Just don’t speak on it if you don’t know, it isn’t that hard.
5:03 “The Raiders”
It is pronounced “yoos-check”. Not juice-check. The fans just chant ‘joos’ when he makes a play.
Notice OL letting a guy getting free yeah bs all year he bailing them out.
Yah it’s been bad
He didn’t go for the throat
MVPurdy
Lmao the guy started with saying bucs defense is really good and brock is reason they won lmao. Almost every qb has thrown multiple tds and over 300 yards lol this guy trolling us. Bucs defense is dam near last
Pearsall is already just as good if not better than aiyuk
Better than a guy who was a 2nd team all pro? Is he a deep threat like Brandon? Nope, good player but man let him play a full season first
@obiarah4161 Brandon's a deep threat? Please, he's above average that's all.
Way too Early BA route tree is crazy. Pearsall is good it his first year but BA all pro and a huge distraction to the defense. DMO will tell you BA the Truth
@mister_dave1184 he averaged the second most yards per reception last year, if you don't think that's a bonefide deep threat, you don't understand ball.
You obviously don't know a thing about ball
Trent Williams has been simply average and is a problem that needs to be fixed and it will only be fixed by him and him alone.
Grotesque. Kyle is going to get Purdy killed because of his hubris.
Az cardinals caint wait for jg to see thi
OMG niners Oline sucks. Specially RT. Jesus Christ!
